  1. i wouldn’t constrain your game to only 2 cores. that limits what the OS has to work with for that process.
  2. so we’d switch to linux and run DCS there? do the hotas units have linux drivers? and the rift and windows odyssey both have linux drivers?
  3. FPS drops and micro stuttering when there are many enemies and allies? adding additional RAM won’t fix the stutters. it’s not a RAM issue.
  4. Question about older CPU... it’s not like a full picture hanging on the wall of your house, but it’s a full picture on your monitor.
  5. DCS and Pimax when you say “improvement”, how much is that? more than 10% ?
  6. Holy Oculus !!! i mentored it because some players have adobe auto updaters running. anti-virus, motherboard temperature monitors, water cooler monitors, web browsers, spotify, itunes sync, you name it.... but when you ask them, nothing is running :)
  7. Initial VR load-in frame stutter yes it will make it smoother when your system can’t keep up. i was just pointing out that you are trading latency for smoothness. if that’s an issue you can always turn down the graphics settings
  8. [MERGED] DirectX 11/12, OpenGL, VulkanAPI Discussion very few titles support it and those that do have shown minimal performance improvements. DX12 is a dead horse.
  9. the easiest way to deal with this is to only install applications you need.
  10. lots of how-to’s on the web and youtube... but why would you do this? i’m asking because it’s unlikely you know how many resources the operating system needs, better than the operating system. thats it’s job. it’s what it specializes in.
  11. keep in mind that adding extra pre-rendered frames introduces extra latency. setting it to x. means you could be seeing the action x-1 after it happened. depending on what you fly and and what you do, it may not matter... or it might.
  12. Does DCS World support 10-bit color? many, many, many software titles are able to output unbanded colors using 8 bit. including graphics and video production software. why do you think DCS needs 10 bit and new monitors to solve this?
  13. 2 bits will fix all the banding issues?
  14. and it depends on how much optimization we get. 100%? i’m in. 20%? i’m out.
  15. start the VR software first. wait until it loads (time it), then load DCS?
  16. true. but it’s a lot cheaper than the real thing!
  17. “less than forgiving”, huh? damn it, we just proved that once again didn’t we?
  18. Best MOBO, SSD etc for DCS don’t future proof if you value money. it’s the same as buying the $1200 betamax machine.... completely useless.
  19. how is the 16GB of system ram and a 2080ti gpu related? i didn’t think they had anything to do with each other.
  20. Does DCS World support 10-bit color? technically possible is one thing. supported with money and effort is another. the truth is that there is little profit to be made in this space. and i should note, you don’t have dial back a monitor. it will just work.
  21. yeah the stream cdn’s have amazing capacity. i’ve seen them saturate a 300mbps link and $280 router so badly the router couldn’t even resolve dns requests.
  22. Pulled the trigger ah! thank you. that explains my confusion.
  23. where is this option? and do you set it separately (and to a different value?) from the Rift setup configuration wizard?
  24. what headset/mic do you recommend? and how does do you attach or fit them with the headset?
  25. Does DCS World support 10-bit color? windows and the graphics drivers have supported 10-bit color for years and years. the issue has always been the output device (monitor) and the source (games). if you have one of those new black friday 10-bit output devices, you have everything you need, except source (game) support.
