Just a quick question, are you using NWS HI on the deck?
-
Oh man, thanks Chuck. I thought you were not writing this and have not really been interested in learning the F14 because without your guides it is just to much work. Guess my weekend is set.

Hi Blue73. Its been a long time. I have not been flying the past couple months. Started up my panels over the weekend and yeah my FLIR Sensor switch and LTD/R switch are working in the terminal window but do nothing in the sim. Not sure what it could be and to be honest not had a very hard look. -
Switch Positions - default.lua

Just got on my machine, the flaps for the Hornet are already part of the input by default. Look for Flaps Switch Auto / Half and then Flaps Switch Full / Half Hope that helps. -

This is very helpful, from Chuck himself... https://www.mudspike.com/dcs-heatblur-f-14b-tomcat-preview/ -
This will help ...

There was a roll bug introduced 2 patches ago. They said it was fixed last patch but I am still getting the same roll. Not sure if anything has been reported on this as I only flew the Hornet a bit last night and did not do any more investigation yet today.

Ahhh thought I was going crazy last night. Thanks guys.... sanity still in check for now!

The way to look at DCS-BIOS is if it is related t the plane / cockpit, then you should be able to interact with it, if it is related to the sim, then probably not. I stand to be corrected on this, but from my limited knowledge it is how I understand it. I am sure with some clever code you can get it to do anything. Download DCS-BIOS, and then in the docs folder is the control-reference.html file. It lists all the commands you can use, that way you can search thru it to see if what you are trying to do is there.

Tagging along... Can I add, does the refresh rate make a huge difference in DCS like it would in a FPS?
-
Also if you use brakes, you run the risk of not letting the wire pull you back when you have come to a stop, and then it can hang up on the hook and you can not get unhooked.

I think part of the appeal of the WW2 birds is having to make those loooooooog trips before you get to your mission. Makes you realise how tough it was for the pilots in that uncomfortable space., then only half way thru engage the bad guys the turn around and hope your machine can get you back safely.

I think he designed and made it..... -
If you want to use Roles, when you setup the mission, don't set your Mustang as Player, set it as Client. When you start the mission, you will then select it from a list of Roles.

AUTO is still buggy, the 83 are still your best bet for this. I find even in CCIP the 83 are the better choice.

Help with potentiometers and usb controllers for DIY F/A-18C UFC.
TechRoss replied to Headwarp's topic in Home Cockpits
Just a thought (I am busy putting together my Desktop UFC so in the same boat um jet as you) you do not need all the buttons and Knobs on the UFC. Certain ones you will only use at startup. I only put things I need in flight / heat of the moment on my UFC and other switchboxes. No need for Radio Volume really, or HUD brightness etc. You set those when you have time and that is normally on the ground. Just a idea, saves you space and ports... -
Seems to work sometimes and not others, last night got some good hits in some tricky terrain, today, can't lock up anything and they are in the open..... not sure what is happening.

I am not 100% sure I understand your questions correctly and not sure why you want to use the keyboard.lua. Here are the commands I use for the Hook and the Gear that will work with a WH 2 pos switch. These go in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Input\FA-18C\joystick\default.lua { down = iCommandPlaneGearUp, up = iCommandPlaneGearDown, name = _('Landing Gear Control Handle'), category = {_('Special For Joystick')}}, { down = gear_commands.HookHandle, up = gear_commands.HookHandle, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Arresting Hook Handle'), category = {_('Special For Joystick')}}, You will need to keep a backup of this lua file because any updates will over write it. Try use OVGME to make this simple. In another of your posts you mention about switches not being in the same position as the Plane when you first jump in the cockpit. You need to go into DCS Options > Misc > set the Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start checkbox. This does not always work, but it is the best we have for now. Good luck

Hi Mr Burns, thanks for the response. I was at one stage thinking of getting a second monitor, maybe touch, and doing the instruments export, but now that I am actually building button boxes I am not sure. The more pics I look at for ideas, the more I realise I am going to have to end up building side panels and a centre mount for my stick. I just cant see any other way of doing it nicely. One of my biggest problems is the desk I use is a corner desk, and I still need a bit of space to work on.

Have you looked at the MOOSE Recovery Tanker function. I am sure that will do what you need it to do.
-
What map are you flying on? If you are in the F10 Map view, you can click on the Airport of Choice to see TACAN info IIRC. I don't think many airports on the PG map have TACAN. For ADF, you can look at the runway, normally near one end you will see a freq, and a hexagon or something like that. That is the ADF. I stand to be corrected but you should be able to use all aircraft on all maps.

You need to open the COMMs menu like you would say for ATC, or Wingman. Normally the \ key if using simple radio mode and I can't remember for normal COMMs as mine is bound to my throttle. Anyway, call up that menu, then look for F10, (this is where F5 would be for ATC, F7 for AWACS etc.) once you press F10 you will get options like air to ground and air to air. missions Select one of those, again using F keys and then choose the mission type, easy, normal hard, again using F keys.

I would think if you setup your WPs so that the tankers landing WP is on the base you want it to land it will RTB to that base. Remember to set your 2 WPs for the actual refueling orbit. It should orbit till it needs to RTB and then go where you told it to go.
