  1. They are referring to F-14 and showing how the F-4 has the capability of printing online. F-14 Documentation has been back burnered to make the F-4, so hopefully it gets some attention soon for more flexible formatting. And an update in the Mods folder…. because seriously, choking down 30+ giant images from a slow server just to look something up quickly is a Huge PITA.
  2. Zoom out for taxi and takeoff. You should see all the way down to the Engine instruments field of view wise in that phase of flight. Gives you better overall sighting of the surroundings. Zoomed into the hud is for Fighting and maybe landing if you’re stuck without head tracking.
  3. They ran different motors with the same head. Look up Zebra Phoenix. Old white motors with new grey AIM-54C heads. The actual missile was built on board from parts as needed. And unlike the Airforce and Army, waste not want not. Just tell the C what butt it has on and it manages.
  4. Also most of the difference is once it has left the rail, so that’s definitely ED’s side.
  5. When you’re in a full crew and you get it you notice it. *ftch-click*ftch-click*ftch-click*…..
  6. Don’t know why, but I thought Heatblur didn’t have FFB for a while.
  7. Did Heatblur ever get a new FFB stick? The Rhino’s are starting to come in faster, and I might have a Sidewinder FFB 2 franken stick up for grabs if Heatblur needs a janky old spare.
  8. Unless it’s part of the phantom launch, you know what I meant;) Were the 414’s the kaboom engines, or were those the ones before the 412s?
  9. Perfect! Just what I needed!
  10. Because DCS is the free spinoff of a paid training product. ED believes they have industrial secrets deserving of protection. It’s not old abandonware that got its source code dumped by some packrat dev. It’s a going concern that just happens to also have a “free” branch. After people got in the old version to keep running the hawk, ED has locked down the code pretty tight. Just ask any unofficial mod maker how hard it is to do things like integrate radios.
  11. The correct phraseology is: ”Soon” which means any time between now and the heat death of the universe.
  12. Is it part of the phantom? Because right now, it’s an all phantom all the time crunch.
  13. You can also cheat a little arduino DCSbios Rx light rig. (Or Helios if you can grock its crazy programming) Not as helpful when both radios are squaking, but some level of helpful.
  14. I mean, deep down, this is still a Pentium III and sub 1GB RAM level game in its physics bones. It’s not even a spherical earth model, so don’t expect the most sophisticated Stratosphere (Stratobox?) simulation.
  15. Does anyone have pictures and or the grip manufacturer/part number of the controller used for the Tomcat A/B LANTERN? I want to build one using THESIMNET’s components, but really need to see some of the Left side details,(like what is the actual type of switch on the side there) as well as the drawing sheet for the shell itself. Can I sneak a peek at it in ModelViewer? Or is the left side not modeled since nobody ever sees it?
  16. As with all documents of Soviet equipment, has it been independently verified? There was, and is, a lot of “politically approved” science being done.
  17. I mean, they have plenty of Crypto rigs, they definitely can manage. As has been proven by the blackmarket Tomcat parts, embargo and sanctions are just ideas on paper to make politicians feel like they accomplished something useful. ‘S all good, nothing to see here for you.
  18. We’ve had the 135 late A for some time. Work on the Early A was concurrent to the Phantom due to some common factors, and The Phantom is in current all hands phase for EA release. That’s been the word for about the last 3-6 months. Phantom system development will feed early A. And most wirk has been towards Phantom EA release. A lot of Heatblur still has Day jobs, and yea, with luck the Early A will drop the day after Iran finally scraps their last Tomcat. So we can enjoy it without the shadow of it being used as an Iranian training tool.
  19. Point the radar narrow beam straight at the jammer strobe line an try to burn through em with brute force I think. Remember to turn Jam strobes on on the HCU.
  20. Unfortunately Electronic Warfare is still one of those cutting edge military tech things. Even old units directly tie to modern stuff. Also noise and interference are orders of magnitude harder to model than perfectly well behaved EM waves. War gamer dice rolls are probably the best we’ll see in commercial stuff for some time.
  21. Easy solution, use the free and superior in every way due to bridle catchers Forestall. The Super Carrier (aka: Combined Arms the boat) is probably never getting better and heatblur can only work with what they’re given.
  22. Those are the radio display. It’s been broke like that for a long time.
  23. Bugs and PROBLEMS. It’s being described as a PROBLEM. Seriously, you Don’t work for or rep ED or HB. Other people get a say here too.
  24. Are you having a particularly hard time in your life right now that clinging to game realism is the only thing holding you together right now? The Bingo button is slow for the method of interface between the pretend real cockpit and the user interface of the game. While with an absolute rotary encoder it’s fine. Most people are not playing with an absolute rotary encoder to set their bingo. If they’re very lucky like me the have a basic encoder or are using the mouse and or a key/joystick bind and that’s artificially slow for the real input you cherish so much. So is it “realistic” for the sim engagement of the knob to take significantly more time and effort as well as requiring constantly looking at the knob taking away eye time from other tasks? Or is the same amount of simulated “effort” more correct to “realistically” represent the tomcat? What definition of Real are you using, and is it appropriate to the tasks intended to be simulated by DCS? Same age old simulator question, Fidelity vs Functionality.
