  1. Yeah, I really can't say it isn't a great tactic. I just feel that maybe the map should be constructed in such a way that it isn't as easy. On the beta map both the first objectives can be taken before the defending team even gets into position...
  2. Or a perfectly good reason to buy a new motherboard! :smartass: OnT: It's a bit unfortunate that your computer doesn't seem to be able to allow overclocking. I know it's hard but I've been there myself in the beginning of my computer career and it sure does suck. Learning from mistakes and acquiring a greater interest in overclocking allows one to make informed buying decisions in the future so that this can be avoided. Also it will make computers a lot more cheap (maybe not in total cost, but in value ;)).
  3. I'm also a bit undecied about the balancing. Given the game is still in beta but the balancing doesn't seem just right yet. Also I really don't like the ability of the attacking team to just fill up an ATV with 5 C4 charges and put the C4 controlling guy on the back with a driver in front and just drive up to the objectives and suicide. That makes 4 lives lost for 2 objectives accomplished and 50 more lives recieved. Way to easy imo. It's almost 100% success rate on that thing with a decent driver.
  4. I usually lock it so that it sticks to the ground in the area near a target and the slew it with the thumb-hat or analog-thumbstick of my X52 onto the target. It kind of sticks to the target rather easily I'd say. Often I lock it up really far away in almost level flight and the release weapons and head in another direction before even getting close to the targets maximum range.
  5. I'm still undecided about this. First time i really didn't like it. Second time I played hardcore and was impressed, then let down. Third time I went back to normal mode and came to the conclusion that it is better (as in more fun, not necessarily 'better'). Fourth time even more normal mode and getting fed up with it. Fifth time really enjoying the good visuals and lovely audio, though not perfect. Sixth time I was really getting annoyed about the normal mode and annoyed that you can't call medics by just clicking a button (irl you never look around to see the nearest medic, you just shout?) and getting a sore pinky by continously pressing crouch (is it even possible to switch to a toggle button?). Not sure there will be a seventh time =) Imo a tad too much battlefield (but true to the name, very good actually!) for my taste and a little to less slow realistic tactical team action (I am describing another game, which one? ;))
  6. I saw that there is a free weekend for Shattered Horizon this weekend, to get more players enticed about the new maps I guess.. http://www.shatteredhorizon.com/ http://www.steampowered.com/ Free to try if you're interested. I'll pass though...
  7. Sure it does. It is essentially the same as buying download and burning it to a DVD by yourself. No difference in activation what so ever.
  8. I also think that the best idea is to go with a completely new 2x2Gib set. Putting four sticks next to each other is begging for a hard-to-cool hotspot in your case.
  9. Try uninstalling drivers/profiler and reinstall, plug in the device in another USB-port. Make a new config from scratch and make sure to load the right one. Make sure all connectors are firmly in place. Now I'm out of ideas.... note: this list should probably be done in reverse order =)
  10. Unless some...thing(?) sends you a message before they let loose the other thing saying: "Hey, i've got this thing on my tail and it's going to hit you right..NOW" :D:cry:
  11. Are you sure you have the latest version of SST and drivers? They fixed Right Shift not being recognized some versions ago...
  12. I tried out Shattered Horizon with a guest pass for three days. It was an interesting environment to play in with rather nice looking maps with lots of tactical possibilites. But the game engine is a joke, looking like something that could've come out 2-3 years ago but still being resource hog like something from tomorrow. It fell really flat after two days of playing when realizing that there are only a few maps. The gameplay is very reminicent of the space battles described in Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (good book btw). But the game is barely worth money imo. A friend snatched it on the steam holiday sales for less than 10$ I think, which is what I belive to be the upper limit of what I would pay for it.

    Incredible RC!

    Cool!
  14. With a little luck and careful planning I could possible free up a sunday afternoon/evening again...
  15. I remember a year ago a lot of people on these forums where asking the same thing. Saitek solved this issue in the latest version of SST (which was almost a year ago now). Try updating drivers and software
  16. I feel that the X52 never slides. Just like prophet said the rubbery pads underneath keep it firmly in place when manouvering. The stick is quite "fluid", i.e. easy to move around, so the base stays put. Even if it's a tad on the light side.. As for a non-hotas joystick I could vouch for Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, very good stick with a little throttle as well =) (looks just like a Cordless Freedom 2.4 so I expect them to be very similar)
  17. How does this work with the black box and all that?
  18. Either try increasing your deadzones or switch back to the "old" trimmer style in the game options.
  19. Happy to be of some help. Looking forward to new version of the program.
  20. New error in latest update (v0.71): It shows some kind of loading screen and tries to access a registry key that does not exist on my 64bit windows 7. The program won't start at all. The key searched for is stored here on 64bit Windows 7: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LockOn Launcher\Main ---- Solution ---- Making a copy if this key, at the location the program searches, creates this error instead: Window title: "streaming" Message: "Access to the path 'C:\Settings.lola' is denied" Button: "OK" This window is impossible to get rid of and keeps popping up continously until forcing the program to shut down. Running the program as administrator makes it start up normally. Thanks for the tip on where to change the language, it is well hidden ;) I like the program idea but all in all I'm not interested in another program that requires administrative rights to be run. Until the program can function without them I'm sorry to say I'll never use this... :( edit: Also I found a bug where the program crashes: Use the tool for starting a program (for example TrackIR), manually close the program and then try to press "deactivate" button from inside tool. Program crashes. Just in case you didn't know...
  21. Not going to turn this into the heated discussion this topic always ends up with but I can agree that I spoke rather clumsy in my last post about utilizing *all* cores. Your post also makes me wonder if you ever read past that sentence?... Still I don't really agree with all of you that this is the gray area you are all making it. But let's end it at that. I agree with Frazer that the OP just wanted to know how to make the game run at it's best. This question has without a doubt been settled and I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my view upon things. Sometimes it's just better to keep my mouth shut and and this thread wouldn't have derailed...:noexpression:
  22. I fixed this by making a macro assignment to the POV hat where continues presses are made REALLY quick to increase speed when a modifier button is held down (you already have one on the HOTAS anyway so why not use it for slewing the shkval quicker as well?). Without modifier the hat works just as normal starting out really slow etc... I find it very useful anyway
  23. I do not fully agree with you actually. It IS (imo) black and white. Either the game is able to utilize all cores or not. My understanding is that Black Shark is not. The following is my humble observation to this fact: Black Shark has never ever used more than 50% of my CPU. In fact, it realiably stays at 45-50% usage when playing since (I believe) the game is not able to utilize several cores at the same time. That Windows 7 load balances processes (windows background processes and games alike) so that it is dividing the load over all available cores is nothing the game can influence (other than setting affinity to specific cores, thus improved since patch 1.0.1a). This is turning into another debate I guess but this was not my intention. It's just bugging me that everone seems so confused over something that (at least in my view) has a definite answer.. I'm not claiming to be a computer expert to such a degree that I know exactly how Windows 7 load balances between cores or understands the inner workings of Black Shark. But I do know some programming, even involving multi-core development/programming of scientific software/algorithms, which to some degree makes me hurt when people are misinformed =/... Though I can agree with you that the confusion I implied in my first post may in this thread be only my own... Dual Core support could in this case actually be interpreted as making sure that the operating system load balances on all available cores... No harm intended =D If you're interested I think I will be availabe for some friendly fire online tomorrow evening ;)
  24. I use it as trim as well but unfortunately it sometimes de-registers my pressing of the button so trim is released. Can be slightly annoying during tight manouvering =D Also, on a related note. Is it really possible to map the analog "mouse-stick" on the x52 throttle to Shkval in game? I've found no axes for controlling shkval? My axes list looks like this (which confuses me because I saw someone else's and it look different). Note that my x52 wasn't plugged in when I snatched this screengrab. Can this change the number of items in the list?
  25. Happy birthday to you! Probably one day late but I still hope you had great day!
