What do you use the CP2 for - apart from the landing gear handle!
wowbagger replied to imacken's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Technically I own one. It just hasn't been delivered yet. Fedex said it was scheduled for yesterday and then let it sit in warehouse not far away all day with the status of " At local FedEx facility Package not due for delivery ". -

I forgot the Blackshark and the Gazelle - I'm constantly adjusting the brightness and contrast of the various displays for night missions. Actually, your point about remembering which one is mapped to what is mostly why I got it. With only a few buttons I have to remember what button A does in this particular plane vs in another plane. But with a lot more buttons, I can afford to have more dedicated to doing the exact same function in every plane so there is less to remember. ... Not sure if I explained that well. -

Yes, CM3, but I can't use a mouse with my left - too many years of right hand dominance I guess. Plus there's no mouse pad or room for one beside the throttle. -
Does anyone know in which file we can now edit the maximum field of view for the Blackshark? Default max is set to 120 degrees, much lower than other modules and therefore doesn't play well with Zip's excellent Instant Zoom keybind mod. Cheers

It depends on the birds you fly I guess. I'm looking forwards to having the extra buttons and rotaries. The Tomcat Auto pilot is 3 buttons by itself. The Viper autopilot uses 2 or 3 buttons as well. I want the rotaries for adjusting volumes for all the annoying things that go beep in the cockpit and drive me crazy. Also lights use up a ton of buttons/rotaries. I hate using the mouse in cockpit - remove R hand from stick, move L hand from throttle to stick, grasp around for mouse, bend head backwards, sideways and down to find the button, click it with the mouse, realize it should have been a right click, then move hands all back onto HOTAS. -
Can we give you a hard time about a little wikipedia copy-paste? Thanks for the update. Greatly looking forwards to some Pacific action.

Ah, the log has its clock set to ZULU and I'm on local - that always messes me up. Cheers

Introducing the Virpil Control Panel #2!
wowbagger replied to HC_Official's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Nooooo! Say it ain't so. My CP is supposed to arrive this afternoon and I was hoping to avoid all that mess. Well, thanks for the update. -
More anecdotal analysis. I changed an audio setting, flew a mission, restarted the mission and got a dx11backend.dll crash. So I restarted DCS and tried the same sequence of play -> restart - resulting in the same crash. Then I disabled Real-Time Protection and tried the sequence again - no crash this time. I quit DCS, re-enabled Real-Time Protection, restarted DCS and tried the same sequence again - no more crashes. For now ... EDIT: nope, this doesn't consistently prevent the crash either. One thing I have noticed is that my log files are all 2 hours behind my system time for some reason. That is, the above crash log is labelled as 11:56:24, but it actually happened at 13:56:24.

I'm loathe to even suggest this, but I think there was another flight sim which showed similar crashing errors and users found they could avoid them by disabling Real-Time Protection. I think it was blocking memory access. I can't test it since my game has stopped crashing for the past three days since I moved my Page File to a non-system drive. If and when it starts happening again I will try this out.

[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
wowbagger replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
Has anyone figured out if it's possible to run Liberation on a network pc which does not have DCS installed on it? I have edited the paths in the preferences file, but it still hangs on start up with <can't find DCS installation> (or something to that effect). Cheers -
Yep, I'm in the same boat. After I updated nVidia drivers and Windows, the crashes came back with a vengeance. So I ended up changing the Page File again - I set it to System Managed Size on the C: Windows drive and set an additional fixed page file (32768) on a separate drive. Both are SSDs. This has gotten rid of the crashes for now, despite all my many efforts to induce them over a couple of days and several system restarts. The problem seems to be memory related for me, since changing the page file is the only thing that has affected it noticeably on my system.

No FPS capping, no vsync. I do use g-sync.
-
Okay, cheers.

Is this problem affecting those with AMD GPU's too?
-
Right, but I have deleted both folders repeatedly over the past week, and it sometimes still remakes the old C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ folder.
-
My DCS still sometimes creates a folder in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\, as well as in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\. Don't know if that is significant in any way at all.

Dude, do yourself a favour and stop obsessing about someone's possible intentions for something that 'might' happen at some point in the future ... maybe. Instead, just go hop in the Tomcat and bust up some bad guys. You'll feel so much better.

I think whatever is causing the crashing doesn't have just a single symptom. The Page File change stopped my Second Load crashing entirely. I can use pretty much all my modules without fear of crash. However on WednesdayI decided to re-install the A-10A and on the very first attempt to load a mission it crashed. By contrast I then took the same mission, edited it in the Mission Editor to use the A-10CII and it worked flawlessly. And I have played several other missions/modules/campaigns since without issue. @BIGNEWY I assume you guys have been trying to track what kind of hardware the crashes are happening on to see if there is any trend. It is so strange that no one at ED can replicate it. It must be that everyone at the office has the HIND already installed and it contains the cure. You should probably release the HIND this weekend to fix all these issues for the rest of us.

I have the same experience. Since I changed the page file allocation I haven't had any crashes throughout several days of playing and many restarts - running with full screen enabled (though it also worked with full screen disabled). If it hasn't fixed the problem, it seems to have at least circumvented it on my system.

I don't think the campaign creators have any control or knowledge over when these things get released on standalone, much less on Steam.

F10 orders not working properly
wowbagger replied to trashcan's topic in Fw 190 A-8 Horrido! Campaign
Are you using the communications menu key, or the radio push-to-talk key? (also, why does this key have to be labeled differently in every single module - it's such a pain to find and bind). -
DCS: UH-1H Huey Detent (VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle)
wowbagger replied to WarmRed's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Great! I'm glad they work for you. I pop them in and out pretty much everyday depending on whether I'm flying helos/warbirds or modern jets. I made another set which is slightly taller since I decided I don't need the tiny bump of feedback after all. Thanks for the message. -

The Page File change seems to work for both Full Screen enabled and Full Screen disabled on my system. The only crash I have had since changing the Page File was once right after I switched from Full Screen disabled to Full Screen enabled. But I emptied the metashader, fxo, and temp folders right after that crash and have not had another since that time. I have tested with multiple mission restarts, and DCS restarts, and a couple of pc restarts and it seems to be holding. If it hasn't fixed the problem, it seems to have lessened it dramatically.
