One thing many air start Quick Missions for various modules suffer from is spawning you in about 10 feet from the target - giving you almost no time to prepare: get your bearings, get your plane set up, get your weapons setup, decide your run in etc. So, even if they are quick I prefer a little more separation at spawn. Cheers

Have to agree, there is a bland look to the cockpit textures of the A8. It might just be the shade of grey that was chosen and the way light hits it, but it definitely looks washed-out, smeary to my eyes.

Yes, I meant the user doesn't have the option, sorry if that wasn't completely obvious. You can't modify purchased campaigns and save the changes, so you have to load each mission into the editor and change it each time you fly it. And then it's no longer a campaign with tracked progress. But we all know all this stuff. The most sensible is a pre-warmed option in settings - much like a pre-aligned option some modules already have. And there's already take-off assistance available in the warbirds, so I can't imagine, conceptually, this would be such a big deal to implement. It would be a significant improvement in my opinion.

Well, to be fair, with campaigns you have no option to spawn with the engine already running.

Bumping this. Tonight I fired up the Anton, thought I let her warm up enough, took off, engine seized shortly thereafter..., switched to the Tomcat. I really like the Fw190-A8, but the more I fly her, the more annoying the engine warm up is getting. Would love a 'fun enhancing' pre-warmed option in the settings. Cheers

DCS: UH-1H Huey Detent (VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle)
wowbagger replied to WarmRed's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Nice! Thanks for sharing. I was thinking it would be great to have a thread for sharing useful controller 3d printables. I made a quick and dirty solution to flying aircraft that don't have afterburners, without having to change the detents. These spacers just pop in and hold the rollers above the detents. Edit: Updated with final version. CM3Lifts.zip -
Also, it's a game, so ... There are, and should be, some accommodations made to extract maximum enjoyment for everyone involved.

Sounds awesome! Champing at the bit, can't wait for this one.

{ ED INVESTIGATING } MFD Text and symbology messy with latest update
wowbagger replied to Foogle's topic in Problems and Bugs
I asked a similar question last week about the TDC AXIS not working well in a three year old thread (moved to resolved), but so far have got no reply; I hope you fare better. The communication on these issues is not what I had hoped for or expected. -
{ ED INVESTIGATING } MFD Text and symbology messy with latest update
wowbagger replied to Foogle's topic in Problems and Bugs
That could well be true. In which case I would have expected something like: As it is I still don't know if they recognize the scope of the issue, and I don't know how to apply the fix or if the fix is indeed meant to work for a normal, 2d, non-exported display. All it would take is a few answers to questions in these threads and one clearly worded reply. -
{ ED INVESTIGATING } MFD Text and symbology messy with latest update
wowbagger replied to Foogle's topic in Problems and Bugs
I can't understand A) how this is a fix {what file is being referred to?}, and B) how this is a case by case basis. Isn't everyone seeing the same change in the MFDs' text ... on their normal main displays and in VR? Is it resolution dependent? Again, this isn't only about exporting the MFDs. It feels like this fact is being willfully ignored in an attempt to just make the problem go away. -
{ ED INVESTIGATING } MFD Text and symbology messy with latest update
wowbagger replied to Foogle's topic in Problems and Bugs
Even on a normal 2d screen this looks a major step backwards in terms of legibility to me. I'm not talking about exports - simply playing the game on a single, 2D, flat, pancake screen (in this case 2560x1440 if that matters). I eagerly look forwards to a more comprehensive and inclusive reply on this problem from the dev. -
{ ED INVESTIGATING } MFD Text and symbology messy with latest update
wowbagger replied to Foogle's topic in Problems and Bugs
It's been a week now. Has the developer commented on the results of this change at all? (@RAZBAM_ELMO) Also, anyone know if there is a lua file to set the default settings for contrast and gain? I am simply NOT going to sit there there clicking my mouse 60 times every time I want to hop into the Harrier. Cheers -
Virpil CM3 throttle – setting up detents and comparison with CM2
wowbagger replied to imacken's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Brilliant! Big thanks. -
Sounds good. Thanks again for the continued support, updates, and workarounds.

I was slightly disappointed to not see any mention of FLAK balancing by ED in the patch. Do your updates make things manageable, or would you recommend waiting for ED to fix the FLAK itself? Thanks much for the continual updates, and the new, awesome looking campaign. Cheers

Agreed. This always drives me crazy in many of the forums here. The F-14 has 16 pinned threads ... and that's after they cleaned it up last year. Pinned threads should have their own subforum called "SUPER IMPORTANT, READ THIS FIRST !!!!!!!!" And leave the normal forum free for topics of current discussion.

I meant if the Seat Up/Down only moves the camera, why was it added at all? That function already exists.
-
Really? That was already available in Cockpit View settings - Move Camera Up/Down.

So glad you're still making campaigns
wowbagger replied to wowbagger's topic in F-16C Red Flag 21-1 Campaign
Yes, those are the ones. -
Can't wait to get stuck into this one!
-
Title says it all. I loved the training missions you did for the F-16C as well; I wish you were doing all of them. Looking forwards to diving into this one. Cheers

Yes! I have been waiting for this with eager anticipation. Thank you.

Best Syria missions and campaigns?
wowbagger replied to CommandT's topic in User Created Missions General
Yes, I agree with you on all points, except that what you're describing I would characterize as bad AI. If you have to use scripting and extremely precise waypoints just to prevent helos from running into trees and buildings, or use scripting to pretend the tanks can't instantly see 360 degrees, through foliage, then the AI isn't that great - especially for a flight simulator. And especially for a flight simulator which ships with very little content (less and less with each new module) and relies on others to provide it .. or not. It's a weird design decision for DCS which I have never understood. I would think ED could hire 3 or 4 people to do nothing but crank out campaigns for their modules. That would be a lot of DLC and provide a lot more incentive to buy many of the actual modules. I very often read "which modules have the best content?". It's also how I make my buying decisions. I guess if they are serious about their own dynamic campaign, many of these AI issues will get sorted out and improved (otherwise the whole thing is pretty pointless). I'm looking forwards to that. But right now I still think Liberation is a really good way to employ your modules, understanding the limitations of DCS, and given the paucity of other options. This is particularly true for the Syria map (which, again, is fantastic in my opinion). -
I'm impatiently waiting for the Harrier to get its reported DMT and TDC bugs sorted before I think about investing time in there. Also, apparently many of the excellent training missions are now broken and there is no manual yet. Otherwise I'd be definitely learning the Harrier. I have been waiting on that for years now.
