  1. The VKB axis-to-button function is far less easy to figure out, for me. I was able to assign buttons to the rudder axis, but I haven't sorted it out for any of the others. Maybe I will have to have another go at turning it into a normal HAT. The Alpha's scroll wheel is a great addition - would love to have something like that.
  2. Excellent! I will have to try it for TDC to see if it feels better than the MCG. I really don't know how else to use the MCG stick though ... DLC on the Tomcat I suppose (I have still never found a use for the Master Mode axes thing). I love the Virpil axis-to-button feature! I also have buttons on pretty much every axis - flaps, zoom buttons, engine cutoff, external view. Also I find the Virpil software a thousand times more intuitive to use than the VKB stuff. My only current issue is that some of the axis-to-buttons won't work in toggle-on mode, but only in normal mode. But I think that is already under investigation.
  3. I believe I just used the axis-to-button function and assigned buttons to the 0-20% and the 81-100% of both mini stick axes, and then assigned those buttons to Move Right Slow, Move Up Slow, etc (or whatever those camera controls are called - the same as the Numpad default assignments). The X-65F has a tiny mouse controller stick on it. It was too inaccurate to use for pressing buttons, but worked well enough for slewing the exterior camera. I was surprised how much I missed it when I switched to the Virpil .
  4. Glad you got your throttle back in time for the big 2.7 drop! Do you prefer to use the throttle stick for TDC vs the one on joystick? My old throttle (x-65) didn't have a useable stick, so I've always used the one on the MCG. Right now I use the CM3 stick for rotating F2 view and not much else - haven't reassigned anything yet to try it, too loathe to mix up my controls - but I'm wondering if it's better as TDC than the MCG stick.
  5. +1
  6. Totally worth it (for me ), I am sure. Thanks for updating all your campaigns and just generally keeping things running the best they can be. Much appreciated!
  7. You were not kidding! I'm about halfway through Horrido! - I stopped playing WWII because of the flashing graphics glitches I was suffering each time combat erupted. That seems to have been fixed now, and the Channel map with the new weather (and whatever they did with gamma/saturation/lighting) looks freakin' amazing. I've decided to to start the campaign over from the beginning and enjoy it again in the new glory. Then Wolf Pack and the Big Show - almost certainly not in that order .. or in any order. Excellent campaign, by the way - fantastic atmosphere and fun missions. I'm always happy just to make it back to base, no matter if it was a successful mission or not.
  8. I didn't notice it in the notes, but the WWII flashing graphics artifacts glitch seems to have been fixed. If so.. huge thanks! I have to say, I love whatever was done to the gamma/saturation. The Channel map now looks, and plays, amazingly well. Love it! Combined with the fire effects .. I am very impressed. Thanks for taking the time needed and delivering an awesome patch.
  9. +1 Thanks for putting your time and effort into it.
  10. To me the Hornet and the A-10 feel very similar; both are extremely good in-depth modelling of systems, one is a bit faster, one has more fuel, one can do carrier ops, one can stay on station forever. But you spend most of your time head down staring at DDIs, and the actual flying is not particularly engaging. For actual fixed wing flying, the Tomcat is the best, the Harrier is fun, the Mig-21 is great. For cockpit ergonomics and view, the F-16 is without equal. The Viper also has the potential for a lot of systems integration in the future. Jester is fine and the Tomcat is a challenge to fly well and makes you think about approaching combat tactically instead of relying on technology to give you an edge (AIM-54 excepted), and is my favourite fixed wing module. (It also has very good developer interaction and support, which I value highly in a module). The Sabre is great, but really not much more in depth system-wise than the warbirds, and very limited in terms of the maps/era we have available in DCS. For single player content, F-18, A-10C and Mi-8/Huey are the ranking champs - but I'm hoping the F-14 and F-16 will start catching up over the next year or two now that we have PG and Syria. Decide if you value systems vs flight mechanics, and then get whichever plane you wish had a poster of hanging on your wall, and have fun with it.
  11. +100 Excellent idea. Crimson Skies in a HIND vibe, but with pirates . I would be all over that!
  12. The campaign is such a mixed bag. The writing, story, and voice acting are very good, in my opinion. But some missions are much too deliberately difficult, far too many happen in pitch blackness, and things like the mission 8 bug still exist. I had the exact same experience - after picking up the the Kiowa crew there is no instruction, so fly the rest of the flight plan and mission failed. On mission 7 you get " I have a target I am lazing now" but no coordinates, directions, or distances to help find it. And the omniscient DCS AI does nothing to help matters. I have changed all the nighttime missions to dawn missions to make them doable for myself (and converted it to play as KA-50).
  13. Between the clouds and the prop calculations I'm starting to wonder how my framerate will like 2.7. I hope the impact is minimal. And before I get jumped all over - as is all too common on here - I'm not complaining or advocating for keeping things static. I'm as eager to see the new toys as anyone.
  14. Yes, I changed it myself too last summer. Folks like to defend Razbam, but it is precisely this kind of thing which puts many of us off. It feels like they don't listen to what users want, don't care, or willfully refuse to change what they have originally done - no matter how small or easy the change is. So incase you care where the bad feelings arise, this is an excellent example of the process.
  15. Okay, it pops up after you select topics. Did not see that before. Thanks for the help!
  16. Is there a way on the mobile version of the forum to limit a search to the forum or the topic you are currently viewing - such as exists on the desktop version? If not, please consider this a request to implement one. Cheers
  17. After a proper "champing at the bit" in the newsletter, instead of "chomping", take all the time you want for 2.7. You've earned it.
  18. This looks like a ton of fun and I would be all over it except that I find the Hornet to be one of my least favorite places to spend time (for a number of reasons). If they made something similar for the Tomcat or the Viper it would be an instant buy for me.
  19. Yes, sometimes (very rarely) it seems to show up, but whether by design or bug I'm no longer sure. Big Newy confirmed that your own waypoints are not supposed to show on the F10 map at all.
  20. I would love to have my own waypoints show up on the F10 Map. I really don't understand the current system where other flights' and your wingmen's waypoints show on the F10map, but your own do not. It seems like a basic function which is strangely absent. I find the kneeboard maps pretty horrific texture-wise and hard to navigate without the ability to zoom in and out. Also many mission briefings are unclear about the flight plan, and being able to look at it on the F10 map before takeoff would help a lot. Cheers
  21. Well, I know which bugs have been and continue to be ignored for years. I know how the bug reporting continues to be treated on this forum and the way the users continue to be treated on this forum. I am not talking about years ago, my frame of reference is current. And I'm quite certain no other developer has so many modules on the go. Having bought their products, I am also entitled to voice my opinion about those products and the way the company does business. But you will note, I am able to do it without having to dismiss the views of other people with hyperbolic, judgemental, ad hominem nonsense.
  22. Given the way the 3 Razbam modules which I own have been handled up until now, I'm amazed to see so many more already on the roadmap (well not really), and even more so to see so many people eager with anticipation (really). Elmo was correct in saying that Razbam does things differently from other developers.
  23. Sounds awesome ... just so long as JTAC will still laze the panzers for me.
