  1. Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear! Many thanks.
  2. Hey all, quick question about what is working and what isn't right now. I started back in on Fear the Bones but after several tries on msn7 I can't get the AIM-54s to do much of anything (even high and fast and giving them lots of distance). So I will shelve this campaign again and come back to it later. Thinking about jumping back into the Thunderbolt or the Spit. Are there any current DCS bugs which break these great campaigns too badly? I hate relearning an aircraft and getting into a campaign only to find some crappy DCS bug or idiotic AI behaviour which ruins the otherwise amazing atmosphere. Has anyone been playing a particular one recently and had a frustration free time of it? I've been away from DCS for quite a while and since the family is away for the holidays, wanted to get back into these wonderful campaigns. Cheers
  3. All I want are pheonixes that know how to do their job. Please Santa. Happy belated JH. Happy Holidays everyone!
  4. See this thread. It is a very simple fix which you can do. You shouldn't have to of course, but it is something which has been ignored by the developer.
  5. I have the same issue with the controls assignment interface always defaulting to the AH-64, no matter what aircraft I'm currently using. Makes setting controls laborious and difficult.
  6. So basically forced advertising every time we want to check the forum on mobile. Classy.
  7. I didn't change anything between 2.7 and 2.8. I think I actually reduced gamma to 2.0 because the world is so bright and washed out. There are two problems with the current lighting on PG. 1 - The view from the cockpit is massively over bright on everything out the window. Details get washed out and it's difficult to see things. Here's the what the world is supposed to look like: Here's what it looks like inside the cockpit: 2 - Then when you zoom in and out the brightness changes so much is destroys any sense of immersion. Another example of the zoom effect.
  8. It's not only VR, it's on pancake too. This has to made optional. It's not how the brain perceives the world and is so very distracting. Simply zooming your view makes the world change.
  9. Yes, would love a Special Options ... um option to remove suppressors by default. They make the Hind look like it should be singing opera (almost certainly Wagner).
  10. I found the same thing on the Huey & the Apache Instant Action FreeFlight Mariana missions. Looks like a weird LOD issue. Flappie is already on top of it.
  11. Thanks Flap! And apologies for being off topic in this thread.
  12. Hey Flap, thanks for checking things out. Just to clarify, that was with the standard Huey and Apache Instant Action quick missions that come with the modules, not one I created. I didn't change or customize anything.
  13. Hey man, if you were replying to me I think there is no point in me testing. My ship issue is very clearly a LOD problem. If your ships are not there at all - ie planes falling into the ocean and no collision with objects, then it's got to be something completely different. Try the A4 solution perhaps. I'm sorry, don't have time this weekend to do much testing of such stuff. Good luck!
  14. First off, excellent idea for a sub-forum! I have been wanting something like this for a while. I posted this in another thread in the Virpil sub-forum more than a year ago, but it seems like a good excuse to get this sub-forum going by posting here where it might be more useful. These are inserts which you can pop into your CM-3 throttle detent levers to quickly and easily disable the detents when you want to fly helos, warbirds, Cessnas etc, without having to unbolt things. It lifts the levers up so they don't engage with the detents. Fully lift your detent levers, pop these in and you are good to go tank or B-17 hunting. When you want to go back to engaging Zone-5 in your tomcat, just pull them out again. There is both a Left and a Right lift because the levers themselves are different. The U shape end goes up. If you print them on their side, the only support needed is a tiny one for the handle. detent lifts.zip

  15. I don't know if it's related but, on my rig (latest update Nov 2, all mods off), the carrier in the Huey and Apache Instant Action missions is invisible until you get within a few meters of it. It seems to be a LOD issue. Here's the track file. lod.trk
  16. You needn't disable Vaicom. The brilliant lads and lasses in the DCS community have already come up with a community fix and all seems to be working again. Massive thanks to all involved in getting this working once more so quickly! And to @Hollywood_315 for making this possible!
  17. Cheers @Hollywood_315! A lovely and generous act. I think Vaicom is the best money I spent on DCS. I hope your work continues to grow and flourish in the DCS World, as it should.
  18. Yes, the Vaicom main page now shows this: Awesome move on Hollywood's part.
  19. I will be honestly surprised if this thing ever gets to a state when BD can finish the manual and the training missions. I've owned it for 4 years now and haven't gotten into it because the training missions are broken, the manual non-existent, and things keep changing, now and then. There really isn't a good stated reason why this hasn't been brought up to release standards (to match its release status) except, presumably, a lack of will. I know lots of people love it and consider it a favourite. I don't have the time or desire to relearn modules, so it isn't for me. My perception is that this is a pattern with Razbam and so I've bought my last RB module. If the map ever gets to a universally respected state I might eventually pick that up. I only wish Razbam actually read these forums so they might see how their approach is perceived by some of us. Meh, whatever. There are so many modules out, coming, and promised - far too many to lose any sleep over one.
  20. Just like Razbam's coders.
  21. Oh, ya sorry, I didn't mean that Paradise Lost should be redone - I know maps cannot be switched with a total redo. I was just thinking that sometimes the island seemed a little bit too built up and modern for the jungles of Vietnam and Laos vibe, and maybe some future Huey action could work on the older map. You're right though, I hadn't thought of the airbases. Maybe a FOB of some sort? I know every map is going to be a stretch of imagination to one extent or another (won't even mention the Northern Territory). However that has always been a strength of Reflected Simulations - taking an 'inappropriate' map and telling a damn good story about a different time or place. Keep 'em coming please.
  22. Just finished and wanted to add my thanks for a very entertaining, and extremely atmospheric experience. For me, feeling like "I'm there" is the most important thing for any simulator (way... way higher up the list than pressing 5k buttons in the right order again and again, or failing a mission because I didn't get proper ATC clearance), so a combination of Huey + Reflected is exactly what I'm looking for. Now I'm wondering if a WWII (optimized) version of this map might not be an even better place for some Huey fun. But looking forward to whatever may be simmering on the Reflected hearth of creation. Cheers Greg!
  23. Cheers Rudel, I actually should have known this myself. I came across this in warbirds' the train strafing missions and reported it a long while ago. I knew there was something obvious I was missing. But I've been away from DCS for about 6 months now and everything's a little rusty. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
  24. Okay, not sure if this is a mission bug or a DCS bug .. it seems very weird to me. When I fly mission 11 it overrides my SnapViews.lua settings and gives me a very wide (zoomed back) field of view. Mission 10, and all previous ones were no problem. It is repeatable for me, even after a game restart. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might cause the game to do this? I'm sure it's something simple and stupid that I'm overlooking. cheers
  25. I concur that campaigns should be as open as possible, letting the users choose what they want to restrict ... or not. It's pretty damn easy to not press F2 F2 F2 F2 if that's how you want to experience the game. Given how cinematic DCS can look, frankly it is a huge loss to needlessly lock out the paying customer from experiencing everything that is going on in these complex, detailed missions that the designers spend so much time creating.
