  1. Thanks for a fun and challenging mission! Great idea to significantly improves one's Hind handling skills. Nice background atmosphere too. Train bridge sooo tempting... Cheers
  2. I don't have FFB sadly (had a logi Wingman force two decades ago, but none since), so I can't speak to that. Glad yours is working smoothly though. Still love flying the Hind. I tend to fly with all channels off most of the time except take off, hover, and auto-pilot modes.
  3. The trim bug seems to add extra roll when trimming. Disabling roll channel removes that.
  4. You can also disable the roll channel (and the pitch channel if you like) and then the mag trim button works pretty well. Or, as cow_art suggests just use the trim hat. I find it flies pretty well with the roll channel off. I turn it back on for take off and auto-pilot modes.
  5. But it will still fly like a Hornet and still have that cockpit.
  6. Confirm, this is still not working as expected in open.beta and in closed.beta. The TRAK button doesn't seem to do anything.
  7. @AlphaJuliet, yes, you're absolutely right, turning down the gain helps this issue substantially. Thanks for the tip!
  8. No doubt. I'm sure I underestimate the amount of work that goes into maintaining campaigns, much less creating them. I'm amazed at how often some of the campaigns get updated to account for this or that. Needless to say, your efforts are massively appreciated!
  9. Can't servers put both carriers on the map? If there is a particular server someone likes to fly on, and that server uses only the SC, then maybe it's time to pony up the sale price of the SC and get on with it. Other games' servers definitely run map rotations which mix and match various DLC. Some don't, some do. Often is the refrain 'this should be free for multiplayer, because it will fragment the community'. I don't think single players should be expected to subsidize the multiplayer community (not suggesting you are saying they should, @Furiz). ED so far thinks it's better to do things this way than to raise the price of all modules to pay for these 'extra's. I guess they have crunched the numbers and have their reasons. The money has to come from somewhere. If you make it so that only the fringe elements, that few people care about, have a price, who will buy it? I don't know how much extra work is involved in copying a Campaign mission and making a Stennis and SC version, which users can use depending upon their situation - exactly like @Reflected has done with a chunk of missions being ported from Normandy to Channel. I think it must be a LOT less work than porting from one map to another. Maybe creators should think about including both versions to expand their customer base. I may be wrong but I suspect that a majority of people who buy campaigns also buy things like the SC and Assets Pack anyway because of the immersion factor. My opinion is that everyone should pay for the pieces of the game they use. We can agree to disagree about this. I hope we can agree that the Forrestal is a welcome addition to the game; whatever form it takes.
  10. Isn't it like any DLC for any game? Get it if you think it adds value, otherwise don't. There are plenty of games with people using items/skins/levels they bought along with others who have not paid for the DLC. Friends don't want it, don't use it with them. With the carrier it's only about eye/ear candy, Stennis still works. The World War II Assets Pack is slightly different because it is essentially a barrier to entry for any of the WWII campaigns and provides things that are in the basic game for modern time frames; but it keeps getting additions and improvements (hear that FLAK, I said improvements - I am looking pointedly at you FLAK ). And the developers need to make a living or none of this happens. Interested to see how the Forrestal will add into the mix.
  11. Yes, I always have to change the symbology colour to red, or make it a much darker green - BUT then the dark green is on other pages too which don't have the map background and are therefore difficult to read with the dark green on black background. I wish you could change symbology shade for just the EHSD without affecting other pages.
  12. Thanks, I had been assuming it's just user error, but once it occurs, it seems impossible to fix. Is it modelling some kind of system damage? I have triple checked that the DMT is SOI and still the controls behave in this reverse way.
  13. Do you know if this also includes the behaviour of the DMT's horizontal controls occasionally becoming reversed - ie. 'Y' moves the designated point right and 'I' moves it left? Because this is still unresolved. Happy to make separate bug report if necessary. @Hornet81 cheers
  14. I can't seem to toggle off the Ground Track indicator line on the EHSD using the 'TRAK' button of the MPCD. TRAK.trk
  15. Just confirming this. It is not TPOD related. It happens even without a TPOD loaded. The TDC moves the waypoint in directions relative to aircraft heading. But the DATA function automatically switches the EHSD to North up orientation, making it tricky-to-impossible to accurately move the waypoint using the TDC.
  16. I had the exact same thing happen to me, flying with 8 sabres yoyo-ing all around me until one smashed directly into me as well.
  17. Yep, though this isn't mission specific, it's simply the current AI Flak snipers at work. I'm suffering the exact same issue in the cross channel campaigns. ED is currently tweaking the Flak - they have specifically mentioned low level Flak, but I'm not sure if this particular behaviour is under the microscope. Let's hope so.
  18. I've been flying the brilliant Big Show campaign. In three mission attempts in a row, the very first burst of flak is a terminal hit on my plane. Only after I have been hit is there any indication that flak is targeting us and I start to see the black puffs pop up all around ... as I am already spluttering deckwards, wind whistling through the thousands of holes in my wings and fuselage. I know Greg is constantly tweaking and altering his campaigns to circumvent the AI deficiencies (massive appreciation of this!). I may have just had some bad luck, but I think I'm going to have to shelve the warbird campaigns until the flak changes arrive.
  19. Oh, that's my bad then - I thought that update had already arrived. Whoops. Thanks for the clarification.
  20. I'm still getting this behaviour in the Mi-24. I can issue a Vaicom radio message and immediately there is a beep to indicate a complete message was understood. However no radio transmission is sent in-game. After a while if I trigger the Hind's in-game push-to-talk button (not my Vaicom tx# button) the original radio message is sent; ie, I hear my pilot's voice saying the radio message and then I get an immediate reply ... sometimes. Other times the Vaicom radio message, while succesful in Vaicom/VA, seems completely lost to the ether in DCS; ie. my pilot never issues the message and no reply is heard. I believe I'm using the latest version of all Vaicom files/plugins.
  21. Yep, I find the Hornet complex systems-wise, but sterile and boring when it comes to actually flying it. I get that this is what makes it such an effective platform in the real world, but it feels more like data entry than piloting. Traps are fun, but I much prefer the Tomcat for naval ops ... and flight dynamics ... and just about everything. I had zero interest in the Viper, but bought it on a whim when it was on a crazy low sale and I had points to use up (ended up being only a few bucks more than most 50% off modules). Maybe it's because I had no expectations, but I enjoy the Viper immensely now. The view, the cockpit ergonomics, the approach to systems - it all feels so much more comfortable, manageable, and just a nicer place to spend time in. I don't need one plane to do everything, which is a major attraction of the Hornet. But the Hornet kind of feels like a Warthog in a different guise. I would happily pay full price for the Viper at this point. This is a great thing about DCS - different folks, different strokes. I can't wait for the Viper to steal some of the Hornet's limelight when it comes to content creation though.
  22. Anytime someone mentions auto start in a post someone always has to question the reasons and motivations. The thread then devolves into a tired litany that has been repeated ad infinitum. Don't be that guy/gal.
  23. I can't seem to turn off the Ground Track indicator line. Is there some trick that I'm missing? Cheers
