But ED does already know this and is working on a change.

Sort of like a mass delusion? VR players only think the aircraft disappears before their eyes, but it is, in fact, really there the whole time. It would be interesting to hear from VR players who don't suffer from this. Edit: Or better yet, it would be most interesting to hear from those ED employees who use VR themselves.

Great to hear, thanks

Still no first-hand reports of the base overheating with prolonged use?

I can’t quantify the improvement in FPS because I was already at 60. But I was able to increase settings for a better experience and still maintain that same 60 FPS. Something I was unable to do before the patch.
-
Quite likely. But I think the key point is I got a pretty big performance boost after this upgrade.
-
Yes, I had actually considered this too. It sounds like something I would have done.

My FPS is a solid 60. I haven't really been paying attention to external views, sorry. I've just been using MSAA x2 and was able to go up to x4 with the latest update. I'm going to be trying DLAA next time I fly. No, I don't experience those drops anymore after the update.

Sorry, my misunderstanding. Yes, I, too, wonder why they haven't added a simple on/off switch (assuming that's doable within an acceptable level of effort)

The other side of the coin is that my VR performance, as well as my buddy's, has never been better. For few days I just assumed ED had cracked the nut and everyone was seeing the same thing we were. I still suspect that's the case for the majority of players. If that's what they were seeing in testing, it's completely understandable why the patch was released.

Sure It’s hard to know what makes a difference sometimes. There are so many variables with all the settings to the game and PC, combined with the effects of mods, it’s hard to know what’s relevant. Personally, I’m always trying new things people recommend for increasing performance. With that in mind, here is my setup in it’s current state: 5800X3D / 4090 (undervolted) / 64GB RAM / Reverb G2 Standalone DCS with a fresh install just before the patch The recommended settings in this video: https://youtu.be/mf_lprzt41M?si=jkjyq-TKhe9zns4p No mods, not even the OpenXR Toolkit or Quadviews. Here are screenshots of my current settings. Let me know if I missed anything and I'll edit this post:

Fine. They haven’t said enough to satisfy you, but they’re obviously aware of the complaints and have said they’re working on the problem. Granted, not the specific part of the problem you’re concerned about. I guess there’s no harm to rant and rage about it here, so knock yourself out.
-
Yes, good point. Reverb G2 exclusively.
-
LOL they said a little more than that. At this point it's evident you just want something to complain about.
-
Yep, I think this last patch showed me you're all on the right track. I'm looking forward to more improvements.
-
I'm one of those that saw huge improvement, even on Heatblur's Cold War server. It actually feels like a whole new game simulator for me. I'm running a 5800X3D and a 4090, but I was having enough performance issues prior to this patch that I had to turn down some of my settings. Now I'm back to where I was previously, with even better performance.

From the changelog: Improved Spotting dots. Adjusted appearance of spotting dots in VR to be close to their previous state. We are looking at feedback. Currently we are working on the advanced functionality for spotting dots rendering which will depend on VR hardware type and its properties which we hope to deliver in future patches to address difference in dots sizes between different VR devices and monitors.
