Game/sim mode problem? Maybe the campaign forces sim mode and your controls are defined for game mode.

I don't have that problem, so I guess it's something on your end. Freezing when entering a mission points to a problem while loading textures. Could be the disk has a problem.

I use CAPS LOCK as an on/off modifier and assigned all needed cdu letters to their corresponding keys on the keyboard. So to input something in the CDU I first hit CAPS LOCK, type away and then hit CAPS LOCK again. Works very well.

Any other headtracker? If yes, check the refresh rate. If not, get one instead of the new monitor. ;) If you rather play without a headtracker and if this monitor and your grafics card support some kind of adaptive vsync (e.g. Nvidia G-Sync) you could give that monitor a try. If not, I wouldn't buy it.
