Appreciate the words of wisdom! Boring grey is better than Ace you know what colors any day. Bright pink on a fighter jet, no! Looks like a schizophrenic anime project.

F/A18E/F Super Hornets block 1 and BLock 2 E/F ( lot 26)

Key take away point, If NAVAIR thinks it is enough of a change that it required requalification, then that's enough. I too long for a Super Hornet but it's not as simple as you'd wish it to be. -

When the Super Hornet was introduced via VFA-122, I recall that pilots of Legacy Hornets had to requalify as the Navy considered it a new aircraft. There is a change in the Flight model and many systems despite what you just said bro. -
Thanks bud. Sorry it's been so long but I took a break from DCS. Yes, I've tried that and a repair did not work. I've even downloaded the updates and still the same thing. I can see the textures try and swap when I re-arm and change the livery but it always reverts back to the default tanks. It's like something is overriding the chosen livery. Any further help is greatly appreciated.

Nice shots! Wasn't going to mention the burners, but you forgot to deploy the airbrake Lol! -
The Supercarrier & VR; is it possible to achieve 90fps?
Jackjack171 replied to obious's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
No worries. I was simply responding to your statement about RL NVG use on deck and if black outs are a thing. You are correct at saying that "This is DCS." You are free to play as you choose bro. -
The Supercarrier & VR; is it possible to achieve 90fps?
Jackjack171 replied to obious's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
May I ask where you've seen pilots goggle up on deck and taxi? The light configuration is complex. Second, the deck crew would need to goggle up as well in order to see the goggled crew because the deck (would be have to be configured for such) is dark. Not to mention, the wands we use to direct with, are not NVG compatible. We don't wear NVG's on a CVN, only on LHD type ships is this accomplished. After 20 years onboard, working the Flight deck, the things you speak of are purely fantasy! I'm a retired Flight Deck Chief bro. And a total blackout would send everyone to the beach, as I stated in my previous post. I was not being passive aggressive, merely stating a fact! Whilst it may be an uncomfortable truth, it is what it is. And while you may not agree, my statement about cutting your nose off still stands. There is no point in Night flight ops if you can't operate properly. The US Navy may be a lot of things these days, but we still practice safety and efficiency! -

So, when you taxi around at night with no flood lights, how do you propose to see? Cut off your nose to spite your face stuff right here, don't you think? -
No worries bud!

IRT wartime, who said this? IRL if the Island flood lights go out, you can't do night flight ops! It's as important as the Lens. If the Crash crane is INOP, we cannot have flight operations period. Certain things are integral to Flight ops and the Floods are one of them. If a real black out happens onboard the ship, the birds will more than likely go to the beach.

Hi all, I discovered the IDF mod, and I think it's great. However, I recently went back to the "Vanilla" F-16C and now my wing drop tanks will not show the proper texture for any livery. Something is overriding the default texture over the livery selection. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated. I used OVGME to install the Sufa BTW.

To be honest, the lights are only used in-port. They should never be on for flight operations, nor did we turn them on at sea. It's like a big "Eat at Joe's" sign out there in the pitch black.

More like Ace combat mixed with Dungeons and dragons. But hey, free choice and all... Separating the real from the fictional would be most welcomed. Going to the user files section lately is almost always a "WTF" moment!

The holdback bar for the E-2/C-2 is a longer, slimmer bar also. It wasn't really gray but more unpainted metal like. If I recall, the E-2 bar was similar to the S-3 only, the S-3 bar required a small, thick plastic piece to be inserted into it prior to hook up. Prowler bar was similar to all of the aforementioned.

Low priority maybe. In the amount of time it took to type this post, you could have flown it by now. And there's way more than one rendition!

Exterior lights (no taxi/landing lights) on the catapult should only be used during the night or case III. They also are not used during the day around the pattern either. Other than that, you are fine! FYI, IRL lights on deck mean a hydraulic or brake failure and is a signal to the deck crew that you have no brakes and to take steps to get you stopped and secured. I hope that helps.

Any suggestions for an adequate Throttle? F16 or F18?
Jackjack171 replied to Eisprinzessin's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I use the Super Taurus/Libra setup...it is awesome! Definitely the split F-18 throttle is what you want. -

Please keep in mind, the oilers are never really with the carrier group IRL. They sail around from point to point, alone. They have their own mission and it's all logistics. We never really see them (not even for PHOTOex's) until it's time for VERTREP/UNREP. USNS's support whomever is in the AOR and are only partially manned by Navy personnel, the majority of those crews are civilian. I hope this helps or at least, clears up a few misconceptions.
