Not to be negative but I have been putting all of my liveries in DCS World Openbeta/coremods/aircraft/liveries. I have never changed and never had an update change or delete them. I've only had issues when I put them into the saved games folder. In fact, @silverdevilfound this out through doing it this way, it works! He stated that he could not see them when he placed them into the Saved Games folder. The standard may be flip flopped around I think!

No problem. No they will not get removed...if a major change happens with the original skinning, you may see some spots but as a whole, no!
-
You have it right with the latter option. The "\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\A-10\Liveries\A-10CII" is where the liveries go!

No worries! I was using the following as a way to show that, the word or words "pattern or bolter pattern" are all over some of the manuals. Maybe it was a way to describe the pattern I'm guessing?! So when you said there is no such thing as a "bolter/waveoff pattern", it made me wonder. I guess it is all context however. And yes, NATOPS can be a pain!

"Penetrations in actual instrument conditions by formation flights of more than two aircraft are not authorized. Flight leaders shall follow Case III approach procedures outside of 10 nm. When within 10 nm with the ship in sight, flights will be shifted to tower control and proceed as in Case I. If the flight does not have the ship in sight at 10 nm, the flight may descend to not less than 800 feet. If a flight does not have the ship in sight at 5 miles, both aircraft shall be vectored into the bolter/waveoff pattern and action taken to conduct a Case III recovery for the remaining flights." NAVAIR 00-80T-105 Thank you for the clarification. Above is a example from the -105. I'm sure you've seen this as I have but why does NATOPS refer to it as the Bolter/Waveoff Pattern? The above is just one of many instances where this terminology is used. Could it be for descriptive purposes?

On occasion when I was a Deck Caller, I'd take my last shot off of CAT 1 or CAT 4 depending. CAT 4 USUALLY would suspend. That messes things up a lot, especially if you have to break him off and send him to the Bow! I did an entire deployment and CAT 4 was down hard the entire time. But I digress! There are guys in the break and on upwind to land while we are getting the last shot off. Hence the "Launching A/C must be at or below 500' until 7nm upwind". I didn't realize how much I miss this stuff IRL until now! Ha!

I'd hate to be that guy but after a long pause, I thought that I should point out that there are 2 shooters on the bow and waist. IRL, at any given time there is only one, a Bow Shooter and a Waist Shooter. There are Shooters that are UI or under instruction but you never have one for each CAT. Also with the bubble up, the shooter is inside the bubble. When this happens, the guy doing the pointing is an enlisted man called the TSPO or Topside Petty Officer. Maybe that's too complicated for DCS at the moment but I thought I'd share that tidbit of info! To be honest, in DCS it would be a paint swap of the trousers and the color of the Jersey, not the Float coat, would be green!

I'm not sure what DCS uses as a measuring stick and that maybe the issue. IRL, we would use the number of aircraft on deck to launch (Case III) and multiply that by a number. It took maybe 5-7 minutes to get a launch out. At night, it is a slower pace for separation and safety. Whatever number you ended up with was your "Ramp" time. This is the time the first aircraft crosses the ramp for recovery. This information is then given to Primary and dispensed to CATCC. In DCS, there is no living "deck caller" Primary or anything else. Maybe that's the problem, I guess!

Just a friendly FYI, T-45's never do Case III work. It is purely day CQ!

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Jackjack171 replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Isoko with the FDNF love! Many thanks and what an outstanding job you have done once again! -
I'd love the inclusion of a MEU. That would be awesome! I was jokingly referring to the idea of a Tomcat aboard the CDG or anything but a USN CV/CVN. I'm personally waiting for the Apache btw!

While make believe and fun are great, a Tomcat or Hornet on either one of those ships would be historically blasphemous! Come on man! Kitty Hawk and Enterprise are the only 2 that make sense.

Carrier captain turning the carrier into the wind on takeoff/landing

Thank you for clarifying and you are correct. -

I'm not sure what you are saying. My apologies. I do not know the exact distances, I only speak from experience. IRL, the CDC can see them but up on the flight deck, sometimes you saw the escorts, sometimes not. They are not a softball's throw away from each other. It is really hazy in the NAG sometimes so that's a factor. There is limited sea space but you wouldn't see them as close as you do in DCS. -

Very true! Just to piggyback IRL, the escorts are miles away. Sometimes you won't see them for days. And you never saw an LHA/LHD in close formation doing simultaneous Flight Operations. The DCS formations Photo Ops close! -

I had it happen as well.

Really nice. Did you ever release this?

Drop lights or the long range line up lights? I find the line up lights a bit of a distraction from the plain old drop lights.

80-85% How much power Hornet needs to go over catapult shuttle?
Jackjack171 replied to =4c=Nikola's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I agree. And we need a Shooter or TSPO as charismatic as this gentleman! JK -
IRL, the Bow and waist Shooters will coordinate with each other. It depends on what aircraft are where. The E-2/C-2 and tankers are "normally" the first to go. You want the big birds out of the way. CATS 1/3, 2/4 is what you are looking for. Along with the standard CASE I clearing turn, it's a separation thing. If the E-2 is being launched from the waist, you wouldn't want a jet on CAT2 as the hot exhaust could flameout a turbo prop. I hope that helped.

Good catch!
