They (Hull number lights) are never on at sea. Only in-port or anchored out in a liberty port. They are way too bright for at sea operations so in DCS, it's kind of pointless.

This is what we (Directors/Deck Callers) were told. The minute that the aircraft in the lower stack saw the last shot off of the waist, they would commence. We also for the Flight Deck Beacons on all for sides of the Island. The Green beacon can be seen also. I see them on the Island in DCS but they are not active.

For the fourth time, have you submitted a track? It is pretty difficult for anyone to help you if you only make complaint after complaint. HB is very good in support but if you do not do your part then... Most of the repliers here including myself have no trouble with the Tomcat. You typing the same complaint is not going to help you!

Flew it today with gun strafing and dogfighting, no problems. I guess yours is an anomaly! Maybe you should do a clean install. Did you give the devs a track as mentioned earlier in this thread?
-
It's not disdain, it's that people keep bringing it up as if they are handicapped with the OG HUD and cannot live without a digital one. Second, HB already has addressed the issue ad nauseum! It's just getting old or I should say, ancient! I would love an F-14D or F-14B Upgrade but it's not happening. Not for the foreseeable future anyway! There is comedy in all this though, so there's that!

Another Sparrowhawk thread? Oh I wonder how they ever survived back in the day before HUD's were a thing!

Which guide is that? That's actually contrary to the Chuck's and also F-14 NATOPS. Using Bomb mode because of a failure to trim properly isn't a good habit to get into either. The OP should get used to trimming. It takes time my friend. And I've had the Tomcat since day 1. Just work on basic flight and feel her out. get used to it. Do not dogfight, don't carrier land until you try it ashore and feel confident in pattern work. Yank her around and find out when she likes to holler and scream.

Had a thought. It seems that weight matters in DCS only when going supersonic or dogfighting but not during carrier operations. I launched a bombcat with a pretty heavy load, still perfectly rotated. The catapults seem to get you airborne no matter what. IRL, I've seen an S-3 settle below deck because of an incorrect shot. 5 -wet Rhinos seem to struggle a bit too. But not in DCS. It would be cool to have a weight board operator as IRL. He shows the weight to the pilot and back to the ICCS or TSPO to confirm. It would be totally up to the pilot (you) to confirm or pump it up or downOIP.jfif. Also this could go along with the whole "Air boss" feature. IRL, the pilot has to give a weight chit to Flight Deck control and the shooters collect it there and do the calculations as far as end speed goes. This would also put the responsibility on us as the virtual pilots to make sure our weight is correct. Just spit balling here.

Thank you for all of the replies guys!

Thank you! That's what I needed to hear but also, does it take long to get it? I can wait a while but not so that I forgot about my order. On the website and other forums, it seems it takes quite some time to receive it. I have the TM Warthog and use it for the F-16 and A-10. I need a true Tomcat stick.

Hello all, I am asking anyone who has the Virpil F-14 grip are you satisfied with it? Also, on the website, it says backorder. Does it take a long time to receive? I'd like to purchase it soon, if it's worth it. Thank you in advance!

You know, I had that happen too! I thought I was tripping! I'll test it out again because now I'm curious.

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)

I see your point. Kind of like in the RAG where the instructors have different helmets and patches. Thanks man, I brain farted when I posted earlier! -
F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Jackjack171 replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Out of curiosity, why would you want 2 separate bodies? -
Since we are being wishful, IRL at night when ready for launch after wipeout, the pilot will turn on his external lights instead of a salute because you can't see a salute. Would be nice to get this. The salute at night is just unreal.

In case you want to write a support ticket (digitalcombatsimulator.com)

Do you have a track to post? Unless you are specific and trying to get things done, you are just pissing in the wind bro!

correct as-is Cat crew standing past the foul lines
Jackjack171 replied to Swift.'s topic in Bugs and Problems
As long as you don't cross the line, it's ok. But yeah, they could be positioned back a few feet and not all up on the line the way they are now. -
The personnel are called Final Checkers.

12 slot buttons! And don't forget Fast Eddie. I swear you used to be an AB bro! I would like to see this as well, but that would include cyclic flight ops and I'm not sure DCS is capable of that level of complexity. I'm still waiting for wands for the directors at night and the lens to be calibrated for the Tomcat. Also, we would need: Ordnance arming on the CAT DE-ARM after landing (the H-60 is always in the de-arm area when I recover currently) The rotating Beacons on all sides of the island are there but do not work The CAT READY lights on the bubbles are there but do not work Deck status lights also do not work I'm getting carried away Lol

correct as-is Cat crew standing past the foul lines
Jackjack171 replied to Swift.'s topic in Bugs and Problems
Great post! The guys on the Bow are fine IRT the Foul line. And the Shooter for the waist, when shooting CAT 3 should be in between 3 and 4 and not on the Starboard side of the pilot. The Director will be on the Starboard side while the Shooter and Topside are in between the CATS. -
On the ship, you would taxi to the bow and shut down there IRL. It would be nice to have tractors and tow bars and such but pilots very rarely ride brakes which makes this a moot point sort of! And unless you have space on the deck edge where other aircraft are, push backs are rare as well. We used to do it by hand with the legacy Hornets, couldn't do it with the Rhinos.

Will we ever get realistic physics for carrier landings?
Jackjack171 replied to obious's topic in Wish List
Oh, she rolls brother, like a mug! I still remember the calls, "Stand by for heavy rolls". As she turns, she rolls and you either have to stop your aircraft moves or be very careful. I've seen a Prowler jackknife will under tow with a tractor, very scary! -
That's new. I've been having a blast with it and I have no problem climbing. Did you provide a track to the developers for analysis? That would help!
