  1. Yes you could do it the latter way. Remember, you can do it simultaneously off cat3/cat1 then cat 4 and 2 to expedite join up. We called it a "Covey" launch. It's a 4 ship go. Let 1and 3 go, then 2 and 4. It's not the way I think you originally wanted (I think) but it is realistic and get you pretty close to what you want to accomplish. Hope this helps. I'm curious lol. Let me know how it goes. I haven't tried it myself yet as I'm just enjoying CV Operations all by myself.
  2. You can do Simultaneous launches from CAT1 and 3, then Cat2 and 4.
  3. IRL, cat3 shoots, then cat4. The A/C behind JBD3 must hold and cannot be loaded until cat4 shoots. The tower (Primary) cannot get a clear visual of cat4 with a bird on cat3. And there is just not a lot of room between them. There is a delay for safety purposes. Someone died a while back and changes were made. Now, IRL, Cat 4 will be loaded but will not be hooked (tension) until the Waist shooter is finished with Cat 3. You cannot shoot an A/C past cat 3 while it is loaded IRL! I hope that helps and did not confuse you.
  4. Sounds like a troll. What is the problem?
  5. Ha, I guess. As a person that has stood behind a JBD IRL while the A/C is at full burner on the cat; I can tell you it's like you are in hell. Very hot and uncomfortable! Lol Stay safe
  6. "We" as in Flight Deck, V-1 on an Aircraft Carrier. I'm a retired AB. Sorry for the not clarifying. Yes, things were different back then.
  7. For some reason, some DCS players either have 'A' fantasy love or just don't care. Look at most of the screenshots! F-14B's in burner off the cat. It's hilarious. Sorry, saw you mention the Tomcat and had to chime in. Lol
  8. For info purposes, once a jet is broken down (chocks/chains removed), we do not chain it back up unless it has issues and needs to be sidelined for troubleshooting. There is no periodic chaining as it moves towards the cats for launch. That would be very time consuming and laborious. I think that's what you were trying to say.
  9. Cool, Thank you!
  10. The F-14 can carry 10 cluster bombs now. Is that made up or real? Just asking for a friend as I've never seen it IRL.
  11. And a hearty thank you for making an honest 'B' skin. With so many fantasy 'A' skins around, I was losing hope. These markings look like -102's time on the JFK.
  12. Great skins and thank you. Do you plan on changing the helmets to match the time period(HGU-55)?
  13. There are some HUD tapes (IRL) on certain YouTube Vids where you can see the Pilot has the needles working but as said by guys like G B and others, once you acquire the ball, ignore them. They are not to be used to land, just to get you there. Try it, you might like it. For me, the needles are easy to ignore. Oh, don't forget the Long Range Line up lights!
  14. Dial in you ICLS Needles and use the Localizer (Vertical Bar) as a reference. After I roll out, I transition to using the Ball. I hope I didn't insult your intelligence and hope that helps.
  15. Being frank, you already stated that you play music. Simple solution; turn the music off or down! I hope you don't expect ED to cater to your own vices. They've already added a burner boom, which was asked for ad nauseum.
  16. We launch 2 tankers each cycle. The tankers are usually airborne first and land last, usually! If I recall, there was a Mission Tanker and Recovery Tanker. Been out of the game for 2 years but that's what I remember. Hope this helps.
  17. Spending money is a choice and a risk either way. Do it or don't!
  18. Not really and not at a Naval Air Station. At NAF Atsugi, we had PAPI on one side and OLS and the other side. Different uses.
  19. Bridal catchers is what you are talking about. Yup, totally different, and ancient way of doing business.
  20. On LHA/LHD ships, they also have an LSO in Primary. That's the other part that's missing. He/she is supposed to tell you "clear to cross" as you slide over to land.
  21. Wouldn't it be wild to see Fast Eddie on CAT 3 during recovery? Former Yellow shirt as well...
  22. Good observation man. I noticed it too but didn't think it was enough to mention. It will be interesting to see how far ED takes this SC. There's so much more (minor) that could be changed nut I'm having fun with it at the moment. IRL, the deck is so complicated and dynamic that I'm not sure what could be implemented.
  23. It's all good brother. Friendly convo! I was a snot nosed kid in 89', plane watching in VA. I never dove into the why or how. You know how those AIRPAC/AIRLANT guys can be. I'm thinking it was just so the Yellow Shirts would stop giving the signal. There was just no need for it, kind of like what you were saying. For me, it was an extra thing that I as a Director didn't have to worry about anymore. Take care!
