Any chance for an update regarding the progress of the F18?
Jackjack171 replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Asking for an update for an update. Got it! Makes sense SOMEWHERE in the universe! Let them work! -
I never said nor mentioned my way or the highway. Re-read what I said instead of taking bits of it. You completely misread everything I stated. When you start lifting, do you start at the heaviest weight or work up to it? Sure, you can have someone spot you, but that's minimal help. Do you learn everything you can before your bench press (diet, supplements)? Or do you walk into the gym, unprepared to do anything of substance and hope that you will walk out looking like Mr. Olympia? I bench 250, I have to work to get up to 350. There's no cheat for that! As I am typing, I KNOW my analogies will fly over your head, but I'll continue. I don't have children (thank the universe) as I led many youngsters in the military and that was enough. I'd show them the way (training) and then they execute. We have a shitload of manuals. Ask a stupid question and you were met with "did you read the manual"? The same was taught to me. There were no handicaps or cheats. Just help, maybe lol. Life is hard, accept it! Your line about children and sports was kind of off. When I played football as a kid, I was pushed very hard. We didn't accept mediocrity. Go hard or go home and get better, then come back! I definitely would never make a post whining about something I barely tried (the original reason I posted in the first place)! And then ask for a handicap because I don't have time! The small majority want things catered to them. That's the weakest stuff ever! Man up and learn whatever it is you are trying to do. There are a plethora of post where it is obvious the OP did not bother to read the manual. It's just laziness! As I said, ED can add what they please. Obviously it wont stop me from doing me. But don't bring that weak excuse of all inclusiveness. Making special adds and cheats for people too inept or lazy is the issue. Peace!

Your last line describes the problem right there. "It can't be done only for extremely hard core fans. No matter how much we want HC features, we MUST as well accept that not everyone are able, or want to, fly in highest immersion and highest difficulty by various reasons. " Then they should go for the arcade stuff or other civil sims and fly a Cessna if DCS is so difficult! There is no MUST accept...you don't show up to the Championship game or the Pro's hoping the others will accept YOUR handicap and change the rules. Do you have a go at "Call of Duty" yet you don't know how the controls work before you log in and fight on a sever? You'd get decimated! You either get better at whatever it is you do, or don't. Come on! Anyone who's played sports or ever competed knows this! Funniest things I've heard this week!

No anger here at all but I'm out of this discussion as it only makes people feel some type of way. And some don't, can't or won't comprehend what I am saying. Let me be clear, DCS is the Ferrari. But a Ferrari won't save you from bad driving technique! You have to learn it! The features in a Ferrari are not cheats! They are more like safety features lol. All other sims are Prius; good gas mileage but an eye sore and drives like crap, no matter how you drive it. Doesn't really give you that feel of the road! I love DCS and the community. Keeping it from being an arcade game was my point and I'll stick to that. They can add all the cheats they want. But as I said, if not careful, DCS will turn into a watered down product. It just takes time. And time and resources could be better spent on improving other things than cheats for people that won't even try! Fly Navy, peace!

More simmers will come regardless. More so for the authenticity of it. If you cannot understand the legacy and purity of a product then so be it. Let's add cheesy dialogue and other crap too! There are other markets out there for the arcade type people as mentioned before. And I have no problem with the features you mentioned being gone as I've never used them. Never mentioned removing anything either! Adding more useless cheats at the behest of individuals who want it "their way" is my issue. Particularly when they wont take the time to read and/or learn from the plethora of information at their fingertips. I like to learn what I've paid for. Like I said before, have cheats if you must, but don't be surprised when this turns into something that belongs on an Xbox or PS5. Let's get proper airfield and ship comms for DCS which is sorely needed. Let's get the Carrier Ops where that should and eventually will be. More procedural tasking and effects. Btw, if you get close enough to the basket in DCS, it kind of latches on anyway. So there's already a cheat there; intentional or not! Why would you purchase a Ferrari and treat it like a Prius(ew)?
-
Has nothing to do with right or wrong, it's about the purity of the sim. Otherwise, I'll go back to the other civil stuff if that's where its going. If we are not careful, we will be able to achieve 5000 KIAS and have dialogue pop up windows every second. Yes; everyone has the right to want what they want, but there has to be a limit for the sake of the sim. My opinion only!

Dumbing down features of the simulation is a slippery slope. No sooner, this (DCS) will be the equivalent to"that other horrible arcade game we all know". It just takes time. There is no point in worrying about accurate weapons and FM (constantly bothering the Devs) if we want the simple things like AAR dumbed down. I say simple because AAR is mostly formation flying. No point in accurate anything if we are going to turn it into an arcade where everything is easy. We have all of these manuals (which some don't even bother to read) and a plethora of info from the forums. For years I watched people down the more popular civil sims and say "Come to DCS, it's the most realistic for combat blah, blah". And they were right! Now, that being said, there are cheats in game already, but lets not lose our minds! The fact that the OP openly stated that he "didn't have time" is very telling! Five solid years in DCS for me and a lot seem to want unrealistic things in order to make their lives easier (RIP Immersion). Very funny!

Well if he knows, and knows that they have scaled back the updates; then why ask at all? The key word here is "update", no matter how you mask it. Kind of disingenuous there guy! -

Practice patience. Whatever you are doing sounds self-inflicted.

What we need is the gear puller! That would help us all out.
-
IRL he doesn't slam anything. He doesn't even touch it! IF the hook gets tangled with the wire, the Crash Crew has to come into the Landing Area and free the wire from the hook. That would be very complex for ED to model maybe. If you raise your hook too soon in DCS, the wire will stay engaged for some reason. Try delaying raising your hook until all movement has ceased.

The Ramp at an airport or air station is very different than the sound on a carrier deck. When you say rolling, can you be specific? ED adding the 5MC calls from Primary would be nice, but maybe too complex right now. As a Director, I can tell you about feeling the wind, the cold, the rain and jet exhaust. Very complex things to achieve in DCS I'm afraid.

yup, break traffic maybe but not landing

Where can I find pics of different flight deck states?
Jackjack171 replied to victorlima01's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
There is no set way as you said but, have you looked at this site? http://www.seaforces.org/usnair/first.htm -
It looks more like break traffic. The interval is off and he's too high. I say Break traffic. Got a bigger pic?

More better news! Thanks!

You have to be pulling VERY hard to break your wings my friend. She's not a Hornet!

I'm just happy guys like Swordsman and Isoko that have made authentic (real B) skins. May be you should check those out. True there is a ton of fictional skins and that's ok if you like but it kills the realism in a way for me. I'll purchase the A when it comes (even though the engines are not as good as the B) and I hope the Forrestal comes out with it to make it more true to the time period. That will be awesome.

BTW, Don't forget your standard CASE 1 departure. Neither A/C should cross the BRC and still remain at 500 until 7 miles. I could be wrong a little there (I am not a pilot) but watching these guys do it all my life; I understand it. Being a Flight Deck Chief, I had to be familiar with most of it.
