  1. That's news. I fly a centered ball, I get a 3-wire (unless I screw with DLC in the F-14 too much) most of the time. The Hornet is even easier! lol
  2. +1 That's what I want to know!
  3. Hmmm....have you tried to WITHOUT Target software?
  4. ? To perform what role? A mail run to the beach? Ha
  5. I never trim the Viper for landing. I listened to Mover!
  6. I see what you did there :)
  7. +1 The Aircrew hop out, if its an "up" jet, the jet is refueled/re-armed if needed and another crew takes the jet for the next cycle.

    A7 Corsair

    Yes, indeed :)
  9. The Yellow shirt (Directors) are the ones that tell you if they are on or not by pointing at their eyes. Sometimes the pilots forget to turn off their lights after trapping. You cannot taxi a jet on deck with any lights on. It signals break or hydraulic failure to the deck crew. In DCS though...maybe that's too complicated. If they put it into an ATC response, that would be unrealistic but then again..... As I said, this is going to be a monster undertaking by ED. I look forward to the madness. :)
  10. +1 Very true my friend!
  11. lol I'm having a blast with these comments. Served for over 20 years, on CVN's and LHD's...I'm all for immersion but some of these comments and request are almost unreal. I love DCS, the short time I've been here but man.... Pretty interested to see how this all turns out. I pre-ordered as well (for under 10 bucks, yay) but I think DCS is going to need a DCS centric NATOPS! There are A LOT of moving parts to a carrier flight deck that people outside of the Navy sometimes don't see. Like, I cringe when guys in DCS taxi on deck with lights on, but then again, how would they know not to? Anyhoo! Fun times ahead!
  12. ? Shouldn't taxi in the hangar anyway! Is this a flight sim or ship sim? Working elevators to go to the hangar? lol Maybe I can go below and find my old rack and take a shower too....hang out in the ready room lol Come on bro's!
  13. And yes I know, (and own) we have an F-16 lol!
  14. I would love an F-2. I was stationed in Misawa and saw them everyday.

+1 An A-7E would cover Vietnam all the way to Desert Storm! I'd be happy! Only they should give us ALL the weapons possible, so that we can choose the era.

    Wet decks

Oh, it gets pretty high my friend. I've seen water break over the bow when the deck is pitching enough, and we are in a recovery. During the launch, the Catapult Officer must time the launch with the pitch of the deck. I get seasick on the bow lol. Dramamine is my friend!

    A7 Corsair

A-3: Heavy Attack A-6: Medium Attack A-7: Light Attack I remember when NAS Oceana was just Tomcats and Intruders. Guess I'm getting old lol. Would love to see an A-7 in DCS. And it would be cool to fly it off of a Forrestal Class ship.
  18. Yeah, LHA's and LHD's had LSO's for the Harriers. It would be nice to see that. The are supposed to be able to tell you "Cleared to cross" or "Cleared to Land" or "Expect Heavy Wave off" etc. They also tell you what spot!
  19. Zip-lip recoveries for me until the carrier module comes out. The comms are minimal IRL anyway. We launch aircraft as the recovery planes circle overhead. Once we shoot the last jet off the waist, the pilots head into the break. It's just a timing thing with the cycles (without me going too deep).

    Lighting

Yes, at night they are used. That faint orange glow off to the right in the video just before touchdown are the island lights. The video's don't do the lighting justice. Trust me, it's there. I spent 21 years looking at them lol.

    Lighting

They don't use NVG's on deck. On Amphibious ships the night lighting is compatible with the NVG's for the yellow shirts to use. I've never used them on a CVN!

    Lighting

No my friend, it's not THAT dark on a carrier at night! The amber/orange floodlights are needed. It's almost impossible to taxi on the ship at night.
  24. Not really but, ok!
