While the APU does not have a generator you can do a ground maintenance mode. However I'm pretty sure ED hasn't modeled decoupling the motor so you can windmill it to spin the generator.
Correct function. Weapon select switch will only put you into AA mode and select weapon assigned to that direction (if you have multiple it will step to next weapon of same type). Only way to get back to NAV mode is to deselect master mode light next to emergency jet button.

Are you doing a trainer or night strike configuration? Because the strike configuration has has 2 rigid mounted sticks on the side consoles that have no flight control function.
Unless there was a maintenance driven reason jets would be fully fueled after recovering. And covers were generally only put one when in the hangar (ashore or afloat)
The pins line up with a hole on each side of the nose gear axle and basically pinch it. It then lifts the nose gear off the ground and than moves the jet around.
Just a heads up if someone tells you to search for "this" it might be because they have remapped that binding to something else and no longer know the default binding is.
