Fuel consumption tapes never display afterburner consumption -
https://youtu.be/ziLGh-iQdwM I loved this rental period, definitely a contender.

Running request - Bindable Button / Axis options
Spurts replied to maverickturner's topic in Bugs and Problems
MY WAIT IS OVER! I get it as both a keybind AND an axis option! I'm so excited! This has been a quality of life issue for me since day one and while it never prevented my enjoyment of the backseat having it now is going to enhance my enjoyment so much. Thanks for the great news @IronMike! -
I saw a Humpback my first flight but that's it. I guess I'll ramp up the Civvie Traffic
-
The issue isn't people wanting to fly without CFTs, the issue is people expecting/demanding the ability to do so when it means the devs would have to make a second full flight model for a non-operational condition. The work involved is not trivial.

I never had a problem doing either FLIR HUD nor the TPOD, I guess I had just done them enough that I let my finger do what it needed to do and stopped paying attention to what it was. Sorry for giving incorrect information earlier, and thank you to everyone who gave the correct information.

No, it's a long press. At least I think it is. Now I am second guessing what had become muscle memory. panic attack ensues!

SSS-in for > than 0.8s works, I usually count to three before releasing.

You are right about that

You should understand because you even posted about it. It's the squadron hotrod. Not all planes run the same. When I was in the Army my company had a fleet of HMMWV ambulances. Mine was the pig that couldn't get past 30mph unless I was going downhill. Another guy had "the Ferrari" that would hit 55mph no problem and also turned tighter than any other HMMWV we had. Despite being made by the same company in the same year and getting the "same" maintenance neither is representative of a standard M997. I say "same" maintenance because I did better operator level maintenance than anyone else in my unit. When I had to PMCS "the Ferrari" I found that it one of the front wheels had been grinding through a tie rod from those tighter turns. The guy who was responsible for that vehicle had no idea. Our DCS Tomcat, A or B, needs to be representative of a standard fleet Tomcat, not a unit hotrod, and not a unit dog. It has to match the charts, not pilot reports of flying the hotrod on a cold day for a MFCF. that is part of it, but the TF30 was also an open loop system. More air = more fuel burned = more thrust. This is the same effect that allowed the MiG-25 to hit Mach 3.2. It open-looped itself into the record books as the engine cooked itself and never flew again. The F110 had FADEC that did not allow runaway thrust. It would limit itself to not exceed a designated condition.

I'm interested to see what the official answer is, but it may be that having a PD-STT lock overrides the ACM mode.

Engine cutting out at around 17,000 ft
Spurts replied to Davros23's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Love this forum. I just picked up the Spitfire for trial and went to test the climb performance. Super happy until the second stage kicked on and had the same issue described in such detail by the OP. Happy to see it's an easy operational fix. -
Sure, when the A was first released and super buggy I got it to Mach 3.2. Seriously though, I have not bothered trying taking the shoulder pylons off to get a properly clean jet.
-
Why should the DCS flight model be representative of the squadron hot rod? There are no charts for that. That is also a non-scientific statement about both the speeds and times. also, 400kts on the dial at 40,000ft is already what? 1.2M? The panel losing story I recall was from low level (TARPS?) runs over Libya(?) where they lifted the NATOPS low level limit
-
Unconfirmed accounts of pilots claiming to hit 2.7 in the A model. Once must assume a light and completely clean jet, and it probably would not be a stretch to assume it was a cold day and that the engines of that particular bird ran a bit hot. So IF that account is true it does NOT represent what we should expect from our DCS A model, especially a loaded one.

I got an A with six Sparrows and two Sidewinders up to 1.86M at 45,000ft doing an intercept profile test. I was accelerating and climbing from 1.4M at 30,000ft (holding roughly 550-560KIAS). Spent almost 5 minutes above M 1.7 before hitting my waypoint 150nm from the boat. Full mil power return flight at 34,000ft to trap with 3,000lb remaining. Roughly 11 minutes in full AB.

I've used the AWG-9 manually from the backseat to lock a target that is not quite on the centerline. Super fun and my Pilot appreciated not having to wait for the lock.

What about Orcas. I wanted to show them to my wife but I couldn't find any.

On the old F-15E.info website there was a list of all known combat loadouts from ODS, OAF, OIF, OEF. It included an Air Superiority mission undertaken by Mudhens. Guess what? CFTs, LANTIRN pods, and wing tanks were carried along with the 8 AAMs.
