Patch notes discussion 10th March - 12th April 2023

Is this what you're referring to? Yes, can we get confirmation that we don't have to actually force OpenXR to add the MT parameter? -

Mission 1 Success!
unlikely_spider replied to TripleTapper's topic in A-10C Iron Flag Part I Campaign
Yes, this campaign is quality stuff for sure. -
Oh, really? Like the Super Hornet? Or a Tiger Moth? Or a new variant of the Mosquito?
-
Yes, it's what I use, mounted to my desk. If you don't have room for an extension, then this is one of the better joysticks I think. Good quality build and very nice dampened feel.

First Campaign Recommendations

Fwiw it's mostly pictures I think a lot of it is the expected routes of ground forces and such which you can likely ignore (I take no responsibility for friendly fire casualties) -

Yes, it's not the military - but the FAA has published a document on what pilots should look for in sunglasses. And it strongly recommends against polarized lenses. The ironic thing is that most "aviator" sunglasses aren't suitable for aviation, I've found. -

They're probably referencing Zulu time -

Polarized lenses can interfere with being able to see certain cockpit displays or make rainbow effects on acrylic, plastic, and certain coatings. I'd be surprised. It can also reduce the glare you see from other planes in the distance, which reduces spotting ability. -
More than one instance of the game running? Check in the task manager or restart the PC.

DCS F:14 Speed & Angels Campaign Info
unlikely_spider replied to Reflected's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
Excited to get into this, and in awe of the hard work that it must have taken to get it to this point. One question though that I couldn't quite determine from the description - due to the F10 options during multiple points in the missions - are we able to "save" progress and jump in at that point sometime later, or is it still required that we finish each mission in one sitting? (just for time planning purposes) I'm correct that a full playthrough of each mission is likely about 1.5 to 2 hours? Also - I'm a real-life student pilot and am ready to be completely humbled by this campaign. I recently completed the Kursant campaign (recommended!) in the L-39, but it seems this one may take the intensity level to whole new heights. After reading some comments here, I'm not sure I should be planning to show my grade sheets to my CFI -
Will an X-Ray machine damage my new RTX 4090

Many thousands of laptops get x-rayed every day at airports. -
It means that the release date hasn't changed. All that's changed is the date that you have less money.

Just curious - why are you guys excited about being able to preorder?

Yeah, makes sense. However I thought that the danger of water in the fuel lines was a pretty basic knowledge item. I've never been in the military or flown a jet, but for the three types of GA planes that I have flown, (all with different engines), taking a fuel sample is part of the preflight. And water in the sample is one of the three things I'm looking for (along with color and particulates). I thought it would be something that's common knowledge among aviators. In addition to the condensation you mentioned, other culprits can be old/cracked seals, fuel caps not secure, or contaminated fuel from the source.
