Harrier Training Missions - Bug Tracker
unlikely_spider replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Training Missions
Yeah... I was considering getting back into the Harrier due to the new campaign out for it, but it's been a while and I'd need a lot of brush up. I was discouraged to hear that the training missions seem to be obsolete now? -

Have you found that there's a way to keep your wingman alive when doing so? On mission 3, for me, he invariably gets shot down before the airfield since he flies a bit higher than me when I'm at treetop level. And it seems the German air defense have sent their very best marksmen to cover their operations in this area. (Not that I've been able to mission 3 yet either - the farthest I've gotten so far is into a wall of 20mm at Boulogne) Does anyone have video of their strategy in this mission? I don't see any on YouTube yet. -

Air defenses over France seem to be crazy accurate What strategies do you follow to avoid them at low level? -
Map the Shift Key to HOTAS?
unlikely_spider replied to unlikely_spider's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I see, thanks. I was wondering if there was a built-in solution. I saw the Modifiers button in the key bindings section and thought at first that would be the place, but it's slightly different it seems. I'm not sure if the "shift then mouse wheel" function is a specific line item in the key bindings menu. -
Probably because it's new. I think they don't have the newest ones available for the free trial.

Sure, you can flip over to whatever side has the cruise speed that you're calculating against. Mine goes to 260 on one side, and 650 on the other side. IIRC the wind wasn't too strong in this mission so you don't need to build in a lot of buffer. @Reflected - man, what a mission this was. I don't think I hit the target, though I believe my parameters were very close at time of release. Not close enough I guess. I did get hit by flak on the way back and had to cross the channel on just the port engine. So less than ideal, though this was one of the most unique missions I've ever flown in any sim. Awesome job. -
Tried a search but couldn't find anything - is there a way to map the Shift key to a hotas button? I often use the Shift key to speed up how quickly some cockpit functions turn with the mouse wheel, but it's not the easiest thing to do in VR quickly. It would be awesome to have this as a button on my throttle to hold down while scrolling instead.

After starting sim shaker for aviators, do you see an icon in the task bar? Right click and there are options there. -
Best way to measure GPU and CPU frametime with OpenXR?
unlikely_spider replied to Willie Nelson's topic in Virtual Reality
Doesn't OpenXR have a setting to show this overlay? I've used it in the past but not at my computer at the moment to see what's actually shown on it. -

reported MT - Visibility of ground objects through clouds
unlikely_spider replied to Nahen's topic in General Bugs
VR is the new AWACS. Really though, I could see objects through the clouds from many miles away. So I'm sure this will be fixed soon. -

Patch notes discussion 10th March - 12th April 2023
unlikely_spider replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
Cockpit lights don't work, you can see vehicles and aircraft from miles away through clouds and fog, and cockpit tool tips don't work. I love that this patch has come out in the beta version, and that we have a choice of which executable to run, but it's not ready for stable. Not complaining to the devs, as I appreciate all of their work and communication on this board. But there are still big bugs, as will be expected with this big of an architecture change. -
Yes. Make sure multi threading (SMT) is not disabled there.

I was having issues until I changed Motion Reprojection from "Always On" to "Automatic" in the OpenXR Tools for WMR app.

What it should look like is this, with the "Number of processors" unchecked. That way Windows manages the cores and all of them are used. This function is really available for those who want to limit how many cores are used. -

Hyper Threading for Intel, or SMT for Ryzen. Mine was called SMT in the Advanced > CPU section in my BIOS, for my 5800X3D -
