  1. Best setup for the F-16 would definately be the Realsimulator FSSB R3 base + Realsimulator F16 grip. The only issue is that this is, including VAT, a ~1000,- € stick with shipping on top and you'll still need to buy a separate throttle. But therefore you'll get a high-end force sensitive base working exactly like the real thing in the F-16, with the by far best F-16 grip non-commercial customers can buy for money. Other than that, i think the Virpil WarBRD base with heavy springs and TM Warthog grip works great for the F-16, while the VKB base with converted TM Warthog grip is also a great F-16 stick solution for sure.
  3. Winwing F/A-18 throttle, Virpil T50CM2 with extension + Realsimulator F-18E grip for the Hornet and Virpil WarBRD + TM Warthog grip for the F-16. Still waiting for a decent F-16 throttle. If money isn't an issue and you want to go with a Realsimulator grip be aware that these can be used on each base with PS2 connector (Virpil, TM, Realsimulator), but only those with BT module (F-18E, F-16 collectors edition only) will have full functionality on Virpil and TM bases. The standard F-16 grips need a Realsimulator base for full functionality. Cheers
  4. I cannot disagree. Had my Virpil stuff long before my bro got his VKB gear. Mainly choosed Virpil because i already had both TM grips and the VKB adaptor was never in stock (and i checked daily for months). Also there was no adaptor for the hornet grip back then. I realy love my Virpil bases and now highly enjoy the compatibility with Realsimulator (The VKB/TM adaptors don't fit in those i guess) but have to admit that i was pretty much impressed when my brother unboxed his Gunfighter MK. III. Same for the T-Rudder pedals. I need physical toe brakes and i'm not a rotor head, so those aren't for me. But the built quality is indeed outstanding. Absolutely great stuff, no doubt.
  5. I'm using Virpil bases (with TM and RS grips), while my brother has the VKB Gunfighter and the VKB pedals. We both are very happy with our setup and i guess there is not a big difference in terms of quality between Virpil and VKB. I'd say both are top notch and you can't go wrong with each of them. None of us had technical issues with any of our Virpil/VKB devices. Personally, i prefer Virpil because of the compatibility to TM and Realsimulator and the wide choice of grips that comes with it. But there are VKB adaptors for the TM Warthog and Hornet grip, so there is some expanded versatility with VKB as well. Both are definately worth their price. Cheers
  8. Excuse me? I have clearly pointed out, that this was ironic. Because i already knew about Aus having compliance regulations. Besides that, i don't see the purpose of RCM regulations wich can be legally avoided by just purchasing stuff from outside and the devices still find their way into private homes legally. Sounds like placebo and doesen't make any sense to me. On the other hand it has been stated MULTIPLE times from the very beginning, that this thread is about the missing markings making the WW devices completely illegal over here, and not that they are hazardous. Still we have people from wherever, trying to tell us that this is "bs" and "that their throttle didn't explode yet". So WHO exactly should get off their high horse? What has this to do with the fact, that lacking these markings makes the WW devices illegal over here? Again, this thread was in no way meant to claim the WW devices beeing hazardous, but to provide important informations for european purchasers, all the reviewers were unable (or unwilling?) to provide. The purpose is, that europeans can make a reasonable decision if they are willing to take the risk that the shipment may get confiscated by national customs, or not. Nothing more and nothing less. I realy wonder what is so difficult to say in a review: "The WinWing devices do not have any compliance markings and no markings in general. So before you order, please make sure the device is legal to import / operate in your country"? I guess the fact, that WW won't sent them any other devices in the future... Comparing a few more important things of daily life, it took me 5 minutes to find out you guys are definately going through more bs than we do. A lot more. ;)
  9. Are you seriously saying, there are no certifications for electronic devices, wich ensure a minimum level of safety and environmental protection in AUS? Realy? Now i'm confused, i always thought that Australia is a top tier developed country, as most developed countries have safety certifications for electronic devices. The USA do have their FCC mark, so does Kanada, Taiwan has BSMI, South-Korea has the KC mark and Russia has the GOST-R certificate. The WW throttle does not have any of those certifications, at least mine does not even have markings for voltage etc.. What do you think? This sounds very much as if the WW devices are illegal in each of those countries, doesen't it? Read it up, this is easy to find with google. And btw. hope you got they irony, because google came up with following: "On March 1st 2016 Australia introduced a new single compliance mark for Electrical Safety and EMC approvals. The new single compliance mark is called the Regulatory Compliance Mark, or RCM mark. It replaces the C-Tick, A-Tick and Unique Electrical Safety Approval Number, making it easier for purchasers and installers to identify if a device is fully compliant with Australian electrical safety, Telecommunications and EMC regulations." source: https://www.compeng.com.au/c-tick-rcm-testing/ Sounds like Australia does very much have this "bs to contend with"...
  11. I tried that too when i recieved my WarBRD base and the base plate is not only moving a little bit in a intense dogfight, in fact when rolling left, the baseplate is liftet on the right side when switching from right to left roll very fast. Flip over was exaggerated, but my statement remains. This is not the way it should be. Or would you fire a machinegun on bipod with the buttstock wobbling and not beeing rock solid attached to the weapon? I guess not, because it's useless, dangerous and you won't hit anyhing with it. Similar with a joystick that is moving on the desk when beein heavily used, because that is not the way it's meant to be. The baseplate of the WarBRD base is designed with the light Virpil grips in mind and IMO is not suited for the Warthog grip. Not an overstatement, but more like my personal opinion. Should have mentioned that in my first comment though, but i still highly recommend ordering the extra heavy springs and mount that combo to some kind of deskmount or simpit.
  13. In germany, import taxes (or however you wanna call it) is exactly the same as VAT + a small customs duty of 3 or 4 Euros. It's propably very similar in the United States, i guess. For detailed info, i'd phonecall your local customs office and just ask. I'm sure the officials can provide competent informations. Cheers
  14. I'm using the WarBRD base with TM Warthog grip, mounted in a simrig for like a year now and i'd say that this combo is not suited for desktop use. The baseplate of the WarBRD base is extremly light (made out of aluminum) and the weight of the Warthog grip demands heavy springs and this can make the base flip over when used with baseplate on a desk. It is also important to know, that the heavy Warthog grip does not center perfectly on the WarBRD base (about 1% off) with heavy springs, with soft springs even more. This can be solved by setting a deadzone, but that's kinda weird for a base that actually does not need any deadzones due to it's high precision. So i'd highly recommend ordering the separate extra heavy springs too and mount the base on some kind of deskmount or simpit. Otherwise you might be a bit dissapointed with one of the best joystick bases out there....
  18. Nevermind, glad it helped. You can set your wheel brakes as buttons or axis. For analog rudder axis, you need to choose the axis command instead of the buttons. Click on "Axis Assign" at the bottom of the DCS control setting and look for "wheel brake left" and "wheel brake right" axis. Maybe this helps ;) Cheers
  20. The WW throttle and the panel are 2 separate controllers. Be sure to choose the correct one when mapping switches in DCS control setting.
  21. I agree there should be more cold starts. Especially with payed campaigns, focus should be be on as much realism as possible, since one should have the 5+ min for a cold start when going for a campaign he payed for. There is always Auto-Start if there is no time to learn the start up procedure. But for user made campaigns/missions... well, people craft their missions the way they like them. Not everyone is a professional mission maker and sometimes cold start provides a few issues (at least for me) with timing. Just an example, 95% of my missions are cold start and i would do 100% cold start, IF the AI would need as much time as a player to cold start i.e. the Hornet. I'm just crafting a 2P coop mission where i want to attack an airbase. Player flight is attacking ammo and fuel storage with several AI flights attacking runway, or performing SEAD and A-A escort. I want them to take off in relatively short intervalls, but the AI is doing super fast start ups, ending up with the AI flights orbiting around bullseye waiting for the player flight to catch up and running out of fuel half way RTB. AAR doesen't help, as AI won't AAR as long as they got fuel left in their external tanks (i guess). So i either set player flight to hot start, place bullseye much further away (to force AI to AAR) or have the AI flights spawning out of nowhere around the players after a certain time. Since the latter kills immersion much more than a hot start IMO and the mission already takes 2 hours from T/O to touch down, i decided to go for hot start.I absolutely prefer cold start and agree with your demand, just saying that it's not always possible for every mission maker. I think if ED would make the AI taking more time for start-up would be a first step. Cheers
  22. That's not totally correct. Virpil does have a CE certification (at least my devices do have it) and so does VKB afaik. And since i.e. Realsimulator/Slaw Devices/MFG are located in the EU, you can be sure they have it as well. And an increase in price is absolutely acceptable compared to the risk of having your shipment checked and confiscated by national customs. In this case, you will even pay for the destruction of your device. It may be possible that the official allows you to ship it back, but as far as i experienced national customs aren't very customer friendly but more focused on law and order. One beeing interested in WW products has to decide for himself, if he wants to take the risk. But the point is, that people should at least be aware about this risk and not a single reviewer mentioned that issue. In no way blaming reviewers from overseas (US, Canada, etc.) that aren't affected by this, but there are several european reviews (french, english, portuguese, etc) of the WW Hotas on YT and all you hear from them is how great the throttle is. Yes it is, i realy enjoy mine... but it is still illegal to import, sell and operate in europe. And in case of warranty, i'm doomed as well as the shipment may be checked by customs for export ( when going to WW for repair) as well as when beeing shipped back to me. Double the risk. So european buyers are literally purchasing a product without a real warranty. Unthinkable with VKB, Virpil, or even MFG or Slaw Devices Not sure if this is the chinese CE marking wich stands for "China Export" or the CE certification we're talking about (Conformité Européenne), but the european certification has to be on the device and not on the box. The Hornet panels were on my wishlist but scratched them after i realised my Throttle lacks the certification. Sadly couldn't find any informations on the WW homepage about this and it would be great they got their stuff straight. They better do as a large percentage of the flight sim market is located in europe and the information WW devices beeing illegal in europe is spreading. And such an issue can make a company fail. No offense, but honestly i don't trust anything except for a picture of a WW device having a original CE certification, posted on the forum by someone from the community who has recieved his order. My communication with WW about this issue was too disapointing and i had the feeling they don't take it serious. And it was not like i was complaining, i was offering assistance with informations of how to get it and what regulations they need to fullfill.
  23. This is very promising. Not only for DCS i guess. If this turns out to be true, i'll definately come to the dark side. I realy wonder if the GDDR6X of the 3080 makes any significant difference compared to the GDDR6. It's propably better, but how much?
  24. Will definately wait for big navi to see some benchmarks in comparison, but at least to see if NVIDIA is dropping prices or announcing other cards (3080ti?). Afaik NVIDIA never officially announced increased VRAM versions of the 3080 and the 3070 as well as those beeing canceled wasn't a official statement from NVIDIA. So one can only hope AMD comes up with something great, even if going for NVIDIA. Competition is good.
  25. The Warthog in your link is't realy cheap. 400$ is just the minimum bid and the guy is charging 339$ for shipping!? I had the X55 prior to the Warthog and it suffered from ghosting (known problem) and buttons stopped working at certain throttle positions shortly after warranty. Maybe just bad luck, but the X56 is the same HOTAS with different paint and new stickers. I wouldn't buy it. If money is short but you desperately want a decent HOTAS, wait for the Warthog beeing on a normal price level again. If you're willing to spend 500+ for just the Warthog, get Virpil Throttle and Stick instead and you'll have something way better than the Warthog for slightly more money. I made the mistake to go with the Warthog first and started to replace it end of last year. Could have saved me the money for the Warthog. Cheers
