  1. Ok, that's not very promising. Did you take a look on my advanced waypoint action settings and if, are these ok so far? Hmm... well if it's a bug, i'd consider it rather beeing AI related than ME. Or am i wrong? I guess i'll have to deal with it and just add a description to the briefing of how to make them attack properly. Thanks a lot for the help though. Cheers
  2. Imo, the Warthog is a solid entry HOTAS. The biggest advantage when buying the complete set is, that you get a decent throttle and a (imo) very good grip for a moderate price (well not at the moment obviously). At least the grips are better than every single grip Virpil is offering. And i've had the opportunity to test one of my friends VKB sticks. Can't speak for the internals, but the touch of the grips itself and button press is way better with TM imo. The MCG Ultimate may be better, but the grips i tested felt not as good as both of the TM grips, especially button pressing/response. The base is a different story, but you can always switch to a Virpil base later on and keep the rest of the HOTAS. The Warthogs base technology is outdated, the throttle levers are plastic and the slew control is crap. BUT, before i switched to something high class and significant more expensive (WinWing throttle, Virpil bases, Realsimulator grip) my Warthog HOTAS ran for several years, absolutely flawless without the slightes issue. The base is catching dust, but i never had stiction (regreased it from time to time), the original Warthog grip is still in use sometimes and runs perfectly, my throttle still runs like new in one of my friends' setup. Never any issues. Another friends Warthog is one of the early models, he purchased it back when the Warthog was released. Besides the stiction issue wich he solved with sandpaper and regular regreasing, he NEVER had any issues with his model. No boards bricked, no buttons failing, throttle friction control is still good - nothing. For more than a decade. So, you're not realy doing something wrong with the Warthog. It's just the price that is a pain in the a** at the moment... I payed roughly 350,-€ for the HOTAS set back then and had 2 years of extra warranty.... Cheers
  3. Thanks for the link. I tried this but it didn't work for me. That is very interesting, i didn't know that. I tried it with F6 and how described, but it doesen't realy work for me. Orbit or not didn't make any difference, only that they just didn't orbit without the orbit parameter. All of my wingmen break formation and follow the waypoints as intended. just with a very tight column formation while "formation" is set to "Echelon right" in advanced waypoint action. They don't attack targets either. I'm pretty sure i'm doing something wrong, maybe set too much advanced waypoint action parameters. I don't know. What i found out was, that if i call them to attack mission target by F6 and let them just fly to the target, they will instantly attack the enemy SAM units when i use the F4 command to attack air defenses. Otherwise they will just orbit around the target area in a tight column. So a combination of both commands works. For me this is not a show stopper, but when sharing the mission with friends it might be as no one realy knows what to do. It's still in a very early stage, so i'm not in a hurry. I would just like to solve this before adding more stuff to the mission. Cheer Mud Spike.miz
  4. Ah, very sad. This announcment for me had a greater wow effect than the pictures of the new clouds. Still a great update to the Hornet.
  5. Hey toutenglisse, Interessting, but "reaction to threat" was already set to "evade fire". ROE is "priority designated" (as there also are intercepters incoming). "Enroute task" is 1. SEAD and 2. Search than engage - Air defense. Tried it with "search than engage unit as well, but that somehow kills realism when showing up all target locations in the Missionplanner while 2 out of 4 SAMs are hidden on the SA page. No joy with the wingman command anyways. I guess i'll have to try "reaction to threat" - no reaction tomorrow. Anyways thanks for your reply.
  6. Hello everyone, I'm posting this in the ME section as i know the wingmen AI is on the mental level of Toadwart and it has most propably already been reported multiple times. But how do i make the AI wingman attack properly? Following is the case. I recently created a SEAD mission where i have to protect a strike formation attacking an enemy command outpost. The outpost is protected by 2x SA-2 and 2x SA-6, no other air defense assets on the map, besides my own carrier strike group and the enemy carrier, both are roughly 150nm away from the target. Advanced Waypoint action is set to "SEAD". Once i get in range for the HARMs during the test flights and order my wingman to F1 (engage)-> F4 (Air defense) he always responds "roger" but rarely starts to attack properly and mostly (in about 7 out of 10 times) breaks right and is RTB. Or at least he is heading back to the carrier. I always quit back to ME after 5 minutes instead of waiting for him to realy RTB. I thought about setting advanced waypoint action "search then attack group/unit" and then order him to F1 (engage) -> F6 (mission and return to formation) but since he does sometimes attack properly via the F4 command tells me, that this (F4 - air defenses) is the correct way and it's just not working properly. Or am i wrong? Does anyone have an idea how to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance Cheers
  7. I've got the RS F-18 grip mounted on a Virpil T-50CM2 base with 30cm extension (10cm straight and 20cm curved) and i highly doubt there is a better grip out there. I have absolutely zero complaints with it, imho it's perfect. My Brother has the VKB Gunfighter Mk III with the MCG Pro (non-Ultimate) and i have to say it is a great stick/grip, but imo cannot keep up with the RS grip. First i was afraid to miss the metal touch of the TM F-18 grip, but the resin material the RS is made of feels just outstanding. I haven't tried the gyro sensor yet, but according to the axis display in the RS software it seems to be very accurate. For standalone mode you'll only need to ensure power supply via battery pack/5-Pin connector cable. The fixation nut is rock solid on the extension with absolutely zero play (unlike my TM F-18 grip), wich i guess is the same with the F-16 CE. Can't speak for the standard F-16 grip, but that it has a nylon fixation nut is news to me. I think this wasn't the case back when i pre-ordered the F-18 grip (was thinking about getting the F-16 too back then) and they changed the fixation system of the standard F-16 grip from aluminium to nylon in the meantime. Will need to go with the CE anyways, as i have a Virpil WarBRD base for sidestick use. You should also be aware, that the standard F-16 grip needs the RS base for full functionality. On Virpil or TM bases, only the F-16 CE and the F-18 grip provide full functionality as they both have a integrated bluetooth module wich the standard F-16 grip lacks. Therefore i use the Virpil base only for axis input while button input is done via BT so i can use all of the buttons instead of the reduced number of buttons the Virpil base supports (TM supports even less buttons). Be aware that the BT module of the RS grips need a solid BT connection wich not every BT dongle can provide. Most dongles have random disconnects with the RS grips, wich would be a pain in the a** during flight. I use the ASUS BT400 dongle and never had any disconnects. For more informations wich BT dongles work reliable with the RS grips, you would want to check out the RS forum. Cheers and choose wise
  8. Thanks for the information. I guess i have to purchase the Hind in order to shorten the waiting...
  9. Outstanding work. This is propably the best way to drag children into flight sims
  10. I totally missed this. Ordered one after i read this. Thanks a lot for this thread, sir!
  12. Best DCS module imo. ~2000 hours in the pit and no end in sight, will always be my favorite aircraft in DCS. For me it was more than worth the price and it would still be if i would've payed double the price, hell even triple the price. Compare that to an ordinary AAA title one pays 60€ for and finish it after 20 hours. I'm playing flight sims and countless other games since the early 90's and the DCS Hornet has clearly one of the best cost/performance ratio of all games i ever installed. Outstanding work with this bird by ED!
  13. You know yesterday was April 1st? It's an April fool and nothing more
  14. From wich period is the Mi-24 we're getting in DCS? 2005? No, afaik the Hind we're getting is from the 80's and there were no NVGs for the Hind. Also, the countries (except for Serbia) mentioned in your link are NATO members and are getting NVGs due to the NATO modernization program for new members (all payed by NATO fundings) and the NVG friendly cockpits are mostly installed by an israeli company named Elbit Systems. A lot of the modernisation work is contracted to ukrainian companies as well. Without that program, they'd propably be still flying without NVGs and these Hinds have nothing more in common with russian made hinds except for the airframe and engines. Their avionics are NATO standard now. And by that article, serbia is still waiting for the Mi-35 to be delivered - nothing beeing in use yet. In short terms, this is in no way related to this topic/the Mi-24 we're getting for DCS.
  15. Not only NVGs, all the more modern items/functions should be tickable so we can have real late cold war scenarios with F16/F18. I'm not an expert on wich items were available during certain periods, but i doubt they had i.e. Link16 and JHMCS back then.
  16. As long as server admins dont try to balance stuff by not disabling the unrealistic gimmicks. If one chooses the Hind (or any other less advanced aircraft in terms of NVG, Datalink, SATNAV etc.) for MP, he should stick with its disadvantages. But the tendency is that most servers dont care and let players (especially REDFOR) have the stuff they wouldnt have in the real thing. Best example is unrestricted SATNAV. Dont get me wrong, i´m playing REDFOR too, but i´m more than happy to deal with some the disadvantages that comes with it. And since there is no option to restrict the NVGs on the Mi-8, i dont think this will be an option for the Hind anyways.
  17. Well then we should also get the latest Hornet helmet wich can use NVGs and JHMCS at the same time, Harpoons for the F-16 (implemented on Taiwans F-16s), full 9g capability on the hornet (Swiss hornets do have 9g airframes and no G-Limiter) as well as the IRIS-T IR-missile with over-the-shoulder capability for the Hornet (Switzerland, Finland and Spain evaluated them for their Hornets - the IRIS-T has installation compatibility with the AIM-9) and so on. And all these things are closer to reality than NVGs on the Hind-P. I wonder when the FF MiG-29 from the early 80s gets released, if people are begging for NVGs too so they have a chance in MP against the DCS F-16 and F/A-18 at night. Nah, it should be like it is in the real thing.
  18. Cannot compete with the full size pits some people are making, but for VR it serves me well.
  19. LoL. Damn right. I guess i missed the joke
  20. Damn you are right, just checked it. Thanks for the clarification.
  21. I doubt we will see Marianas prior to the Hind (and its campaign) are entering early access...
  22. If its not a thing in the real Hind, it shouldnt be in DCS as well. just my 2 cents.
  23. Rather try "no reaction" in reaction to threat settings, works for me. With "evade fire" they will do exactly this, evade fire by terrain masking.
  24. Schon passiert Danke für deinen regelmäßigen Updates zu dem Vogel. Bei aller berechtigten Kritik an RAZBAM, die F-15E ist ein Pflichtkauf für mich. Zuviel Strike Eagle und Janes F-15 gespielt
  25. Ist das etwa der AAR Schacht einer F-15E?
