DG is the directional gyro mode, which means that the gyroscope providing heading for the AHRS is disconnected from the magnetic field sensor (which is a seperate device and has nothing to do with the standby compass). This means that the AHRS heading gyro will not be recieving any updates to where magnetic north is but can instead be adjusted manually with the course knob. There are a few more implications to using that mode but given the small size of the DCS maps they are irrelevant. The BDHI should show the same heading as the standby compass in the SLAVED mode when on the boat, however I never really paid attention to whether the standby compass is also affected by the carrier but I would think it should.

I had a similar situation against a Mig-31. Got a launch warning first, cranked, then the rwr was silent and I got hit a few seconds later. I'm not sure if this is a bug or some intended unreliability of the rwr. Buttom line, always assume you are being fired upon unless you know the bandit turned cold.

It is for the AI apparently, but it doesn't prevent you from flying the F-14 off the boat. I get that this issue should be adressed rather sooner then later, but saying your are not able to use the catapults is plain wrong. Again, I have no problems launching from the Stennis.

its really not that big of an issue. Just hold the kneel button for a few seconds longer after the aircraft has fully kneeled. If it still doesnt launch, hold down the kneel button again until the cat goes off. Works 100% of the time for me on the GAW server.

I have a TM WH and use the target script editor to create a custom bi-linear curve. The first linear curve has a shallow slope such that it hits 80% ingame when the phyiscal AB detent is reached. From thereon, a steeper slope ensures that the virtual throttle reaches 100% with 100% physical throttle. I'm not sure if Virpil's software provides similar capabilities, but I would think it should. I thought this was a feature of the real AC :lol:

I guess they moved the AB point further backwards. It used to be at around 88% now its around 80% throttle axis. I wonder why they reduced the non-AB range though.

Had no problem taking off from all four catapults in the defaul PG Case I recovery mission. My guess is holding down the kneel button for a few seconds more after the AC has fully kneeled may do the trick.

What an amusing combination of ignorance and overconfidence. Why don't you put your 1337 programming skills to good use and make your own F-14. I get the frustration about long standing issues not being adressed. But things just don't go as planned in an ever developing environment like DCS. Thats the price of progress and throwing shit at HB won't get anything fixed.

+1 I know the beta is not meant to be 100% bugfree and you can still go back to stable, but the realitiy is that most MP server use OB and not being able to use the F-14 without some quirky workarounds in MP is really a bummer :/

Well to be fair Wags said they will try their best to provide limited functionality for the F-14 as soon as possible during EA.

I'm suspect HB uses the same methods for carrier launch and recovery features as the default Stennis, which means that a Forrestal released now would be just as broken as the Stennis. EDIT: Or are you talking about the upcoming SC module?

The pump handle is for extending the refuel probe and charging the brake accumulator in case of combined side failure. Should the combined side (if available) not still provide power to the actuators?

I would love to see that back too. I am however afraid that this is not a trivial problem and there are far more important things on HBs plate right now.

The standby attitude indicator has its own gyro independent from the AHRS. Did the BDHI still show the correct heading? Because if not, this means the AHRS is gone too (which is what I get most of the time after being hit by a missile).

VDI and HUD should automatically fall back to AHRS in case of an INS failure. If you completely loose VDI/HUD you have more damage than just an INS failire.

What mindblowing information did they provide on reddit other than they have planned some big updates for the first anniversary (something HB posted weeks ago on this forum)?

+1! VRS SB wouldn't have been the same without your carriers back in the day.

There are ton's of addons for the civilian flightsims that provide both lineup and braking point marshalling at the gate. Again, the video shows the deck crew clearly guiding the AC on the catapult. There is every reason to believe these are not just scripted animations but are depending on what the user (or even AI?) aircraft does.
