You're coming in too fast, cap'n! Though you should keep around 350 km/h on the way down, after you pass the inner marker you should start reducing, aiming to cross the threshold somewhere between 280-330 km/h depending on the weight. Also, one of the things that feels unnatural in the MiG-21 compared to other planes is that you fly with the power on all the way down to the runway, only cutting throttle when the main wheels settle on the ground. Last but not least, when landing the MiG-21 you don't really flare or any such thing. Fly the little arrow down to the runway as if it was meant to keep flying, with a very slight, almost invisible nose up touch after the threshold to curtail the sink rate. You 'fly' it onto the ground, rather than land it. This video shows a pretty fantastic approach, do like this guy and you'll be just fine:

As far as I recall we won't have them because like you said the Alpha have them disabled after a short while, but Heatblur are willing to add it as an option where they appear visually for those who want them.

I went from the F-5E to the Mirage 2000 and it was a great transition, though the Mirage's real deal is air-to-air.

The F-14A had all the air-to-ground bells and whistles of the F-14B, actually.

Not really, Squirrel. It's a heavily modified version of the B-8 grip, like the stick on the F-5E, UH-1H and F-86 in DCS, and which will feature on the F-4E, AH-1 and potentially the A-6E whenever they come. As far as I know all except for the F-14 and F-5E (which has the dual trigger and the dogfight switch) are identical, but all things considered a stick like that would be useful across all of them.

To my best knowledge the central drop tank switch is under the red cover on the front side of the stick:

Practice the start-up, then fly circuits at a land base and learning the navigation systems, then a carrier launch with land recovery, and once that's done carrier landing practice. Past that, weapons employment!

The Mirage 2000 uses an inertial navigation system (constant position tracking in latitude/longitude), TACAN (radial beacon with distance measuring to station) and VOR/ILS (radial beacon with instrument landing system in some cases). The F-14 has the same minus the VOR, and it has an instrument landing system exclusive to carrier landings. The INS is very easy to use so long as you know what you are doing - it doesn't give you the moving map, but it does constantly tell you where you are. Its best use is when following a proper route where you know what does each waypoint mean in the map/situation. You can use it as a poor man's moving map by checking the bearing/distance from currently selected waypoint, like a TACAN of sorts.

It's in the game already, Hamilton. Make sure you put Brazil as the country, it'll have four liveries - 4834 like in the photo, 4828 (similar but slightly different colours), 4846 (30 years in Brazil special) and 4841 (1º GAvCa anniversary livery).

Little bump, any news on this? The Mk82 and Snakeyes are still in the wrong position on the wing pylons. This does not affect the 5-bomb rack on the belly.

You picked fine, don't worry. It's just that the Mirage 2000 needs a little more work. Would you mind telling about the details of missions you're flying? That will help figuring out what's going wrong :)

Not really doing any prep work. Most of my flying is in the F-5E anyway, which is all manual and gives a lot of feedback, so transition should be smooth.

On top of that, the F-14A was also the one to make its mark as the most feared aircraft in the Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war.

Well, for what it's worth the F-14 got somewhere between 35 and 45 kills for Iran depending on the source, most of which were MiGs and Mirage F1s. Both Tomcat and Hornet pretty decent platforms.

I'll do a little bit of both, probably pilot when on my own and RIO whenever there's a buddy available.

Can't help you on that one, I'll give it a go myself and see if I have better luck. I do remember a pilot of a different platform saying that this method of coordinate-based bombing isn't exactly loved in real applications because unless you have someone giving you an exact target position to the last metre, the bombs won't be accurate, and the fact that it uses two systems that are prone to errors (CCRP and INS) makes it impractical unless you're saturating a large area or target. EDIT: Tried it in the Mirage 2000, I think I cracked it. The INS we use is accurate to a pretty decent extent, and it accepts decimal inputs for for distance and heading. However, our blessed little Mission Editor doesn't do decimals for degrees and the INS only takes two decimals for distance! I flew four attacks, two with Mk 82 and two with Snakeyes. In all of them, the target according to the INS was within 1000ft to either side of the intended target, but that's way too far for small bombs to still have an effect. Not sure if there's a way to get the decimals out of the heading properly. Has anyone tried it with coordinates instead of rho/theta?

The A-6 has my vote but from the Swedish arsenal it'd have to be the Draken. Quirky, something new, served with Finland which also has the MiG-21bis in game, and it looks absolutely stunning.
