I'm finding (the hard way) that it pays A) to Read the PDF for each mission .. carefully, B) sometimes you have to use your head or imagination C) WP's don't always have to be followed to a T but are rather there to get you in the right area D) Listen Carefully to ALL Radio Chatter. Sometimes there are Hints ... EG: Mis 8 .. just because there are WP's beyond what ultimately becomes the objective, doesn't mean you have to follow ALL of them. If there are WP's beyond a point where the Radio says RTB, then turn around and retrace your steps ... no need to follow the entire course. The latter was a hard one for me to figure out ... but it made the difference between success and failure. Have fun everyone. Polychop ... sorry for my griping.

I'd love to see Walkthrough Videos of Each Mission in this Campaign. If I knew how to create good quality videos I'd convert my Tracks (from completed missions) to videos and upload them. But I can't seem to get the quality I need. And I have never had much success with the Nvidia screen capture thingy.

PROBLEMS WITH >> "Mission 8 : New playmates" I have a serious issue with "Mission 8 : New playmates". The first time I flew it, I got to "somewhere near" the town of Zhinvali approx. WP 5 where I was told we can get fuel on the way home if low. I went to put a Map Marker (F10 Map) at that location. But as soon as I clicked on the map to place the marker, DCS puked my back to Mission Start (no death; no count against number of flights or percentage; just start over again). So that was a waist of half an hour. So I started flying again. Somewhere around the same WP (or not much further) we pick up a Chinook which we have to lead to a Downed Chopper. Everything goes good up to and including heading home. BUT I followed the WP's using my Kneeboard for the return trip (as was the case for the majority of the flight because there are like 30 WP's). I ended up at the starting WP, landed at Farp Berlin and asked for Refuel and Rearm. The Ground Crew says UNABLE re: Fuel but rearmed me which I could do without the extra weight ... so I fired them off after taking off again. I haven't heard a message from any pilot or anyone else since we were told to RTB and I'm still stuck with this Chinook following us around. I flew all the way back to WP 5, thinking I might be able to find a Farp to refuel ... now Drastically Critical. I have landed on the road and asked ppl on the ground (if they were real they would have thought I was retarded). Anyway, I'm on literal FUMES and have NO IDEA what I am doing or supposed to do at this point. It's fairly obvious that I have to refly the entire mission again .... BUT ... WHAT AM I MISSING ? Somebody please help asap. Merci in Advance.

Hi Thomas Loeffelmann If I remember correctly, things start happening as they should once you take off and get lined up with your first WP or take off and Hover over your parking space. But if all else fails, install the Edited Mission (file link available in an earlier Thread Post).
-
Yes true. I think I got the Edited Mission for a different reason (i.e. different issue). But now I can't remember what that was. Either way, the download fixed something. I'm taking off for Mission 8 : New playmates in a couple minutes. Best of luck to you friend.

PS> Billbezeau I highly recommend you view (and post) Mission Creation related questions in the "Mission Builder's Corner" forum. They have a ton of ME resources and it's where you will likely be able to find the available talent you need to help you out. https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=210 -

Possible Solution to Bambi Bucket scenario First of all, I have only created a few missions .. and they all suck or just don't work anymore thanks to updates. So I am the LAST person to ask anything about Scripting or the ME in general. However, you might be able to Simulate a Bambi Bucket situation using Flags and Zones (or better yet ... with creative scripting). The Bucket itself would be easy enough to model. I'm sure someone will do it if you offer a couple dollars for their time. So like any Cargo that you create in the ME, the Bucket aka Cargo can have a predetermined and pre-set Weight (or weight characteristics when in flight EG: There are missions where you pick up cargo ... but you never actually see anything hanging below the chopper). Then (possibly) you could make a specific body of water (or portions thereof) a Zone (in ME) in which you have to be at a certain altitude and hover for "X" number of seconds at that altitude over said Zone, after which your Bucket/Cargo has "Z" amount of Additional Weight added to it. If that sounds like it would suffice for your mission, I'll bet there are a few people in ED Forums that are smart enough to figure out how to make it work in ME with or without additional Scripting To be honest I don't know if it's one or the other or Both can be used to create mission because I know NOTHING about scripting and only LITTLE about the ME and I haven't used it since DCS 1.2 ! Best of luck friend. My apologies to anyone offended by me replying to a Mission Creation Question which would probably be better suited in a different Forum Thread. -
Hi bakerzdozen13 In order to not give any more details away in this Thread, I have sent you a PM with some more tips to finish this mission. I hope you don't mind me PM'ing you, but I think you will find my info very helpful.

Thanks Scarecrow84, that is in fact the Thread and Post(s) I was recalling.

One thing is for sure, you must really take the time to read and re-read the Campaign Notes (PDF). In there are some clues (could stand to have a few more for people like me !!). But take a look at Mad-MM's post (up a few posts - 2nd post on THIS page). I followed his idea of following the coast to get past Ochamchira or whatever that city is called. Believe me when I tell you, things only get more difficult from here !!
-
Oddly, this is one of the issues I Haven't had !! But I'll tell you what, with all the bugs (or whatever) worked out, it'll still be a very challenging Campaign (at least that's what I'm finding .... when it works).
-
BTW iFoxRomeo FYI I failed to mention that there is a recent thread/post (unfortunately I have yet to be able to relocate it ... it is a Polychop Gazelle Forum Thread) in which someone had recently Interviewed a Known RL Gazelle Pilot during which MANY of the questions most of us have asked were asked and answered .... as detailed in said unknown but recent thread/post. I will still try to find it. It is very informative; to the point and very helpful. It was pretty clearly implied that the pilot deemed the sim Gazelle's FM to be pretty darn accurate (but not necessarily perfect)>>>> All PARAPHRASED of course.

Crash to Desktop AGAIN Hello again SkateZilla I have (somehow) managed to progress through the Campaign ... getting my butt kicked the whole way. And now Half Way Through Mission 6 "Urban Fights", while trying to take out AA targets for Hammer 1, my crap got locked up and Crashed AGAIN. So while I haven't heard back from ED yet, I'm starting to wonder if it's not the Campaign or Mission versus DCS World itself. So I have attached Today's Crash Logs etc. Please take a look when you have the opportunity (asap of course !). I'm reluctant to fly much more until this is resolved. It's very frustrating to get so far just for it all to Crash to Desktop. Logs.zip

I have had the Gazelle since it was released. While it may not be perfect, it is FAR BETTER now than it was. There are still some issues but I don't see the FM as being one of them .... except for maybe the somewhat uncontrollable speed wobble (Roll Axis) one can easily get into (but not out of) when cornering fast/sharply. It does a Pendulum type roll thingy that I can't figure out. It "might be" realistic but it sure feels weird and prevents me from being able to fly it nearly as well as I can with a Huey. But again, it may well just be Me !! I think any required Tweaking is probably minimal. Go ahead and purchase the Gazelle and give it a try.

I have found this to Always be the case right from when NTTR was first released. For me, the drop in Frame Rate is Most Serious when I have ANY civilian traffic and/or ANY vehicles (i.e. 1 vehicle) moving along WP's within the city (Custom Mission). Of course I also get serious frame rate issues if/when flying near or even just looking at or towards Smoke from fires and explosions etc (in both DCS World 1.5 and 2). Sometimes this is worse than others. I don't have the best Video Card in the world but it exceeds the minimums and I have tons of RAM/8 Core PC/Water Cooled etc etc bla bla bla. I know if I had $400-$700 more to put into a higher-end video card PLUS more $$ for an SSD, things would be better (problems probably resolved) but like MOST People, I cannot afford to do this.

There is another issue regarding the Wind (I can't find a more suitable place to mention it). The smoke stacks etc show smoke blowing downwind (EG: Right to Left) but we have to use the Opposite Rudder (regardless of aircraft) to compensate. If as in the Example above the wind is blowing right to left, then one would expect to have to use Right Rudder to compensate. BUT for quite some time now (in both Single and MultiPlayer), we have had to use the Left Rudder input to compensate. This can be very confusing since ED refuses to create Wind Socks at airports, counting on Smoke Stack Smoke (which should work well enough IF there are smoke stacks close enough to see the direction the smoke is blowing) AND since the Physics of Wind vs Rudder Compensation is Bass-Aackwards. !!!! Please Fix This.

I SkateZilla I'm feeling like this is more of a DCS issue and not the Gazelle. I reposted in their forum and attached Log, Dump and Crash files. So I'll wait'n see what happens there. Also, being stubborn, I flew the mission again ... successfully and without issue. But then in Mis 4 when returning to the Farp after taking out the artillery, upon trying to land at the farp, the Lag/Frame Rate dropped to about 1 frame per second (litterally) to the point where it was IMPOSSIBLE to Fly, Hover or Land. Crashed really well though. I'm done with it.
-
Oddly I just flew it again and had no problem. Then half way thru Mis 4 there was SO MUCH LAG the gazelle was all over the F'ing place. I couldn't possibly land for the Lag/Frame Rate i.e. 1 frame per second !!! Sickening

I don't know if it's DCS or the Gazelle or the Campaign or the Mission or What but I am getting thoroughly sick of not being able to enjoy flying because there is always some gd thing wrong. I have updated DCS 1.5 OB twice since last Friday (incl ystrdy) and since cannot fly the Gazelle Campaign Mission 3. As I approach WP 4 (to find a spot from where I am in range and can blast vehicles before they cross the bridge), DCS has puked back to the desktop. Both times at the exact same location (give or take a half mile). Whether it's the location OR just "X" number of minutes of flying (since both sys crashes happened in about the same amount of time) I don't know. But I have tried 2 times today. I'm not even going to try flying anything else until I know this issue is fixed. I spend more time frigging around than I do enjoying flight because there always seems to be issues. It's super frustrating. DCS_Log_Crash_Files.zip

I have NO IDEA how one scripts for JTAC to do anything BUT one thing I do know is that you can get JTAC to Lase Targets for you and use the same 9 Line info that A-10's use. You "might" be able to get an example of this if you have the F-5E Mod. As of last week's update (1.5 open beta), the F-5E is now capable of dropping Laser Guided Bombs with the help of JTAC. As such, there is a Training Mission to practice this. If you were to Save a COPY of said training mission and "peel it apart" you may well learn how to script this for your mission. Alternately, I'm sure this scripting information is already available in these Forums. Maybe these can help >> EG: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98616 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=120355 As far as Smoke Markers go ... I do believe JTAC does have this ability, but again, I have no idea how you'd make it work .... but somebody here does ! Best of Luck

Thanks for that advice friend. I will give it a whirl. Happy Flights friend.

OMG I can't get anywhere near Farp Paris w/o getting smoked. I am staying to the East of Ochamchira and away from the Mountains but I keep getting shot down. I am paying attention to my Radar and avoiding Sams/AAA etc by moving fast, low and around them as much as possible, but I cannot seem to dodge them to get anywhere near the objective Farp. Should I be trying to kill these Anti Air (with the limited missiles I have because the Ground Crew doesn't seem to get finished reloading when I'm told to lift off immediately ... and barely getting away) OR continue to try to evade them ? I can't go any faster or lower but I have no idea where I'm getting shot down from (I got killed 3 times NE or N of Ochamchira). I'm even cheating by flying thru the trees !! I wish there was a Walkthrough and/or a Video for Each of the Missions that will show at least 1 method of winning missions. If I keep going the way I'm going my Mission Success Average is going to be a Negative Number by the time I get half way through this bitchin' campaign, never mind if I actually ever complete it !! Somebody ... Please HELP !!! lol
-
Never Mind. I found Farp Paris. I also missed a communication which said to stay East of Ochamchira. I still got smoked ... again ... and now started 6th attempt at Mis 3. It's a bugger.
-
Okay, I hate to admit it, but now I'm having issues with Mission 3 "An opponent hides another" After returning to the original Farp (London) to reload, there is an enemy breakout (which I believe is scripted and NOT a failure of objective) during which I am instructed to head for Farp Paris. The only problem is, I have NO Idea where Farp Paris is. Furthermore, the Comms Menu indicates 3 Farp Paris' (I'm guessing there are 3 sets of landing pads at the location) but none of them reply and neither the Mission PDF nor F10 Map indicates where Farp Paris is located. The instructions (radio) indicate to Not Fly over water... so I don't. But I do follow the coast North to Ochamchira where the battle seems to recommence. But I am having problems determining exactly what I'm supposed to do at this point OR to figure out WHERE I should be. Can anyone offer me some insight to this (and maybe other) mission(s) ? PS> If it's more suitable please do contact me via PM. Unless it's okay to divulge tips in this thread ?!
