[CLOSED] Slanted side view when using TiR in latest 1.5.4. OB.
SnowTiger replied to Art-J's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
@firmek I don't either agree or disagree with what ED is doing because I really have no idea what is being done overall or how it's being done. And I absolutely agree that as users we shouldn't care how things are handled with regards to coding. The fact is I have no idea how any of "it" is done but I'm always impressed when "it's" done (at least seemingly) right. I just didn't agree with someone's rational for the way things are done whether or not that is how things are done. It just didn't seem to make sense to me. But then again, I don't have any knowledge about it. And as you implied what makes sense from a rational point-of-view may not be realistic with the way things are done when it comes to Programming. All that said, I'll bow out of this thread and just wait for the dust to settle on a few more updates and try flying again. -

I completely disagree with this idea. The fact that developers would have to test and support both methods forever would only apply if they continue to make changes to both methods. Whereas if they have TIR working .. leave it alone and create a completely independent method of control for VR headsets. These things are not alike. Each method should have it's own Radio Button ... select the TIR system radio button to use that method if you have TIR OR select the VR radio button to utilize the VR method. Then if/when they make changes to one it doesn't adversely affect everyone like we are currently seeing. I'm not a programmer so I don't know if this is possible, but I'd like to think it would be that simple for someone who is ?? ! -
I own all but the 2 Migs and the Sabre (including pre-purchase of F5E Tiger) but I have only flown a few. I have tried a few flights in the Mi-8 but have yet to learn the Start Up Procedures. I love the Huey and I've spent a fair bit of time in the Black Shark. I have sat in a couple of the jets but never really flown them. I spent allot of time in the Mustang but got tired of having to relearn things after updates/changes and have never been impressed with it's performance. While I own the 2 WW2 German planes, I have no desire to fly either of them. While I am looking forward to mastering the Gazelle, recent issues with that and my feelings of the Mustang pretty much have me Not Flying At All ! My desire for flight is in a serious slump to the point that I'm apt to wait a few months before trying again with hope that many issues will be resolved and I can actually enjoy learning and flying again. I long feared that DCS was going to take on too much and not be able to focus thoroughly on a few really good aircraft sims. It appears to me my fears have come true.

I found it. Thanks.

Sorry ... but .. Can you provide the PATH to said file please. and Does this need to be done for DCS W 1.5Beta and 2Alpha ?

Thanks msalama .. I'll try that.

TRACKIR 5 Zoom DEFAULTING TO +10%
SnowTiger replied to 00Donkey's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I actually like my X-55. The only problem I ever had with it was when I first installed the software/drivers etc, I didn't have a Profiler Icon in my Task Tray. I can't even remember how I got it to work but it has worked ever since. My problem is more with changes/updates/patches etc from DCS that constantly have us remapping it, thus requiring relearning and forgetting everything learned or practiced to that point. It just seems to be more frustrating than it's worth, especially considering the financial investment(s) made with hopes of actually having FUN ! -
Same ... Black Screen. Time Wasted. No Flying. No Fun. + TIR is all out of wack. Instead of the Default looking straight ahead, now mine is looking towards the center of the cockpit glass/wind shield.

It sucks that we have to even consider going through this process to fix something that should never have been broken. It would be nice to get an update that doesn't require 2 hours of re-setting and/or changing or re-establishing Controller Settings, TIR defaults etc etc, before getting a chance to do any flying. I think the Learning Curves are long enough without having to relearn things every time there is an update. It certainly takes the fun out of it for me. -
As of the most recent update, there now is a Trim Reset function. However, the last time I tried changing any key settings and/or Options (both), when I tried to Exit the Options Screen, all I got was a Black Screen. When changing keyboard/hotas settings, Nothing Happened ... except for my wasted time.

I have had this software for a long time but have yet to use it (although I am very aware of it's usefulness). I just haven't gotten around to it yet. However, knowing it's usefulness and now with it On Sale, I am certainly going to purchase it this week. I like to have Pro/Purchased Licenses on software I value, regardless how functional Free Versions are. It's worth it to me to support software developers when really useful software is produced. Thanks for putting on the Sale ... and giving enough time to take advantage of it.

TRACKIR 5 Zoom DEFAULTING TO +10%
SnowTiger replied to 00Donkey's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I have just WASTED yet another 2 hours dicking around with controls/settings/options, Hotas etc etc etc. Even the Default Zoom in the Gazelle is half angled to the left now. I am running into things I have NEVER had to deal with. Even after Completely Remapping the Gazelles Controls (which one should NEVER have to do IMO), and restarting DCS multiple times, I still haven't even started the stupid thing up yet. Not one minute of flight in 2 hours ! This is really becoming more hassle than it was worth to me. I'm gradually, if not rapidly, loosing my interest in DCS Anything ! Sorry for sounding pissy, but I'm sure I'm not the only one ... just maybe the only one willing to admit it. -
Low fps in 1.5.3 compared to Belsimtek UH-1D
SnowTiger replied to fjacobsen's topic in Bugs and Problems
The latest patch/update dropped my Game Loading /Mission Loading and in-game Frame Rates to an all time low. It would be great if an update actually did more good than harm. It's getting a bit old. -
TRACKIR 5 Zoom DEFAULTING TO +10%
SnowTiger replied to 00Donkey's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I'm having the same or similar issue (same Hotas) .. same default zoom issue. Of course I do know how to setup my Default Views. But it is getting to be a pain in the you-know-what that every time there is a patch or update, something else gets broken. I'm a bit pissed that after flying the Gazelle for a month (if you can call if flying), now it won't accept my NEW Hotas Inputs (have to change a bunch of them) and my TIR is all out of wack and doesn't seem to want to be fixed. Lastly, the Fire Weapon/Rockets won't accept my inputs/changes. I guess it's going to be just like the Mustang. Might as well park the damn thing for a few months until everyone is done messing around with it. THEN try to learn it ONCE ... not relearn every bloody time there is another Fun-Wrecking Update. -
As far as I know, there is No Trim Reset in the Gazelle (that I have found anyway). But then I don't use the Magnetic Trim anyway because I don't have FF Hotas/Stick. The stick position and trim range is minimal (i.e. limited stick travel).
-
This is not a great video re: Quality but starting at about 1:55 minutes, you can see a wee bit of Cyclic "stick" handling at high speeds. There is a bit more motion of travel of the stick than I would have thought.

Any updated news regarding this excellent mission ? Has ED not yet addressed the shortcomings that have prevented this mission to be working in 1.5.3 ?
-
I hear that friend. This week feels like it's gonna be a repeat !

BTW - If you enjoy the variety of missions available on the DoW Multiplayer Server OR even one or two specific missions, don't be shy to post a comment here or at the DoW Forum (Forum Registration Required). I'm sure the Mission Creators would be thrilled to hear your comments ... especially when they include praise ! Plus there is a ton of interesting and/or helpful content at the DoW Forum (Forum Link Below). Now, if you really like the missions, keep in mind they all take tremendous effort, skill, thoughtfulness and time to create (often away from what could otherwise be the mission creator's private family time)/ Furthermore, significant effort and dedication is often required to operate and maintain the Server(s). Good Equipment is not cheap either. So don't be shy to consider submitting a small monetary Donation if/when you can. It can be a one-time offering or regular/monthly occurrence if you like. The Donation Link (via secure PayPal) can be found at the Bottom Left Corner of DoW Forum Home Page http://www.webfortress.com/dogsofwar/ NOTE: Forum Registration is NOT required to submit a Donation. Thanks Everyone. Happy Flights & Fights Wait a minute ... Does that make sense ? "Happy Fights" !! Sounds like an Oxy-Contin .. or .. something like that ! :)

Interesting ! I'm definitely going to tinker with that. I'm not sure why I have never messed with Saturation ? Maybe because it Sounds a bit like something to do with Margarine ? !! I can't wait to try this out. Thanks a ton.
-
I have in fact, never touched Saturation for any of my Profiles. I am definitely going to try that out and also try to adopt to the suggestions following "this quoted Post". But I'm curious. Should I apply Saturation (without Curves or minimal curve) to both the Pitch and Roll Axis' ? Or just Roll ? Thanks in Advance
-
Use of Stick Curves is something that confuses me a bit as well as the Magnetic Brake. I'm confused only because of Conflicting Videos. Some say don't use Any Curves on the Cyclic. I tried it that way (albeit with a 3 Dead Zone on the Neutral/Center position to overcome the Detent) and found it to be too sensitive, so I ended up with a Curve of 15 on Roll and 10 on Pitch with my Rhino Hotas. I also have a slight curve on my Rudder Pedals as well as a Centered Dead Zone. But even with Curves, I find myself Over-Reacting or man-handling the Cyclic ... or at least the outcome comes across that way. I'll keep at it.
