  1. I tried using the Magnetic Trim again and it seemed pretty useless considering the entire range of movement the stick ever needs to go can be done all with the Fine Trim (Hat).
  2. Unfortunately the OPTIONS menu .. where you can customize your keybindings, does not separate the L and M models. The downside to this is that it requires 2 separate buttons or triggers to fire rockets/guns/HOT3's instead of a single button/trigger to fire the weapons regardless of which model you are in. This makes no sense considering we can only fly one model at a time, I suggest that we should only have to select the Trigger to Fire whatever weapons are available, regardless which model you are in. If in the M model, the trigger fires the HOT3's and if in the L model the trigger fires the rockets or gun etc. It's stupid to have to set up separate buttons to fire all these weapons when we all have a limited number of buttons on our Stick to begin with, regardless which stick you use.
  3. About the only thing I ever end up recording is me ... Swearing because of "issues". I flew every single day for over 2 years and had a blast most of the time. Now I "try" to fly about once every 2 weeks ... only to end up pissed. So I'll have to pass on creating videos with the Gazelle and most other Mods (currently). Good luck to all of you. I hope I soon regain my enjoyment.
  4. EST = Eastern Standard Time ? By EST do you mean Eastern Standard Time or something else ? Because where I am (EST or Toronto, Ontario time), 4pm is actually 4 hours from now. OR did you mean GMT ... Greenwich Mean Time ?
  5. Out of MANY hours of trying, I have yet to have a decent flight in the Gazelle (either model) IF AT ALL, let alone had the opportunity to even try the Multi-player Co-Pilot (I didn't even know that was working yet). I spend more time setting things up and re-setting them up and trying to resolve issues and relearning stuff, that I haven't been able to enjoy this craft since it was released. I'll just wait until the snow is deep ... then I might try again.
  6. Here are a couple screenshots to show how I do it (as described in my previous post). DCS is installed in C: Drive (default) and everything else to do with DCS, whether is Profile Config files, downloaded mods and missions etc ... are ALL on a different Hard Drive.
  7. I save a Master Copy of ALL of my Profiles/Bindings on a completely separate Drive. I load profiles from that drive. So regardless what updates do, I have access to non-corrupt files on my other drive. In the master copy profile folder, I have a sub folder for each MOD where I save profiles for each of my controllers (HOTAS, Pedals and TIR).
  8. Since the latest update (today), now my CH Rudder Pedals are not recognized in the Gazelle. I had no problem in the Mustang only minutes earlier. But I get Nothing in the Gazelle. That said, while checking my Control Options, I noticed much of my Saved Configs are all screwed up now but I'm sure that's a DCS/ED thing and not specific to the Gazelle. Who Knows. All I know is Every Single Time I get in this thing (after any update) I WASTE and hour or so dicking around but never get flying. Someday I'd like to try flying the gazelle without having to go through a bunch of BS .. to no avail !
  9. I like to install ALL programs/software on my C: Drive and I use my additional drives and partitions strictly for saving Data (photos, movies, music, DSC downloads etc etc). I have always felt this provides the best performance for me for all my programs. As well I always have as much RAM as I can afford to stuff into it.
  10. ATTN: DoW Admins >> Just in case no one else noticed, it appears TS has not been working (or showing on DoW Website) for several days now (since at least Thursday this week). I don't know if the Server is also down ... but it's worth looking into whenever someone has a few moments. Thanks.
  11. Wait Patiently ? R U Kidding Me ? The Mustang has (supposedly) been out of Beta for a long time, and yet there are still serious issues as well as not so serious ones. That said, we've been waiting for a long time for a complete Mustang. Or at least one that stands a chance against the German planes that Mustangs actually had to fight during the majority of WW2. We still don't get a complete repair to the Safety Wire (WEP) during a Repair, so flights after using WEP and getting repaired, have a weird throttle/RPM characteristics. And just when we get used to something, changes are made requiring more learning/relearning how things work and react. I'm not going to present any list of Pros/Cons of what's done versus what needs to be done. But to suggest Mustang Lovers don't have a right to complain or are asking for too much simply isn't right. The first planes out should be the first planes finished ... complete and realistic. And of course if you prefer to be 109/190 Lovers, then you should be able to hope for and expect the same .. in due time.
  12. I'd just rather not bother flying at all. There are many Flight "Games" out there that don't require relearning. You learn, you fly, you have fun ... albeit .. A Game ! I'll just wait a few more months until the dust settles, then I'll fly again. Until then, DCS is dead to me.
  13. I will try the MT again. Maybe there is more range with it now. The last time I tried using it, it didn't move the stick much further forward than the Fine Trim did without it. Whereas in the Huey or BlackShark, if you moved your stick all the way forward and then hit the trim, it would stay in that position (all the way forward) as can be seen in the cockpit and the Control Manager. I'll give it a try and see how it works. I'd certainly like it to work like the other choppers. But as stated, now I have to find and alternative for firing the HOT3's. I'm not so sure about using a Modifier though. I haven't had to bother with those yet and was hoping to avoid it. But thanks for the suggestion Brixmis.
  14. It sounds like this topic is still up for debate. Socket7 > I agree with all that you said. I was having difficulty explaining the "limited range" whether using the Fine Trim ONLY and/or the MT. It is definitely limited with the Fine Trim but one can fly effectively with that alone however, I don't think we are getting full speed with that alone because "I think" that the MT allows a bit more forward movement of the stick than Fine Trim does (not sure about that - this was the case recently). The fact is because of things like this, I haven't been flying anything since the Gazelle was released. I don't want to learn something only to have to relearn it again and again with each patch/update. It appears I'm still in that state after my most recent flight. There is one thing I wish ED or Polychop could do and that is allow the Cyclic TRIGGER to Fire the Guns, Rockets and HOT3 missiles. There is a limited # of buttons on any controller. Without the Magnetic Trim, I can use a thumb button to fire missiles but with it, I'm left without a button to use for them ... since the Guns and Rockets are now fired with the Trigger but not the HOT3's. Since we either have one air frame or the other, why can't the same Firing Button work for All Weapons ?
  15. Since the Gazelle was released there have been several patches that affect the way the Magnetic trim works or whether it should be used if/when you don't have Force Feedback. Plus there was no Trim Release command until recently. There are several contradictory YouTube Videos so that I no longer know what or who to believe with regards to the USE of Trim in the Gazelle. From the beginning, since I do not have a FF hotas, I understood that I was to Not Use the Magnetic Trim. I only use the Fine Trim which I have programmed to my X-55 Rhino HAT switch. Initially this seemed fine. I could speed up and slow down using the Fine Tune Trim. And I could get the Gazelle to fly/cruise at or close to 200. But then Trim Release was introduced (like that which we have in the Ka-50 and the Huey etc). I have seen videos that show people now using the Magnetic Trim even though they don't have FF. Even so, it seems there is only so much Stick (cyclic) movement which the Fine Tune controls were able to go the full range of this minimal movement (stick travel distance ... sorry that I don't know how to better describe it). When using the Control Manager thingy to see where our controls are at, the Cyclic only moves about a quarter inch from the Neutral/Centered Position, in any direction. Im sorry but even trying to explain my issue is difficult. So all I am really trying to determine is DO we now need to use the Magnetic Trim (MT) even if we don't have FF ...OR is MT still specifically and only used for FF sticks ? And if NOT using MT, and only using a Hat and Fine Trim controls, what is the Fastest a Combat Loaded Gazelle will fly ? Because I can't get it to cruise anywhere near 200km (or knots or whatever it is) when only using the Fine Trim. I have to hold the Cyclic beyond the point which fine trim is capable of traveling the stick, in order to hit 200. This makes me think I need (and want) to use MT, even though I can push my stick ALL the way forward, hit my Trim button and the stick still only locks a quarter inch forward (as shown in the Controls Manager and In-Cockpit stick). Using the Trim Hat, I can only ever get the Gazelle to cruise around 150 max. Am I making any sense to anyone ? Does anyone understand what it is I'm trying to ask here ? I just want to be able to fly and have everything work like it should. Without breaking my wrist trying to do it. PS> Does anyone know of any CURRENT up-to-date (with the latest patches) Videos that accurately explain the use of Fine Trim vs Magnetic Trim ?
  16. I don't think DCS should bother with civilian aircraft for several reasons. For starters, you can already get these in FSX and many sim'ers don't want to learn via Study Sims. More importantly though is the fact that the more DCS takes on its plate, the less attention other Mods will get. I think they are already over-loaded with the aircraft mods already in DCS (or on their way). I'd rather they focus on "X" number of aircraft and stick to those, making them the best they can possibly be and keeping them running (with fewer counter-productive patches).
  17. Thanks Hawkeye60 for the detailed reply. I appreciate the tips. I guess it's time I get down to figuring out this software. PS> I have used voice recognition software (DNS) quite a bit but not for a while now.
  18. Do you use VAC for your voice commands ? If so, any chance you'd consider sharing a list of voice commands you created for the Gazelle ? I have had a licensed copy of VAC for a while but I have yet to use it (too busy trying to learn everything over and over again as patches continue to make changes) so I haven't seen the advantage of using VAC until the dust settles and I can set things up once and for all (at least that's my hope !). Thanks in Advance.
  19. I apologize to everyone for any confusion I have caused. It only now occurred to me that This Thread was specific to DCS 2.0.2. All of my observations and remarks are from 1.5 OB !!??? ;-}
  20. Never Mind. This matter is resolved. Input Options with regards to TIR "somehow" got changed or modified slightly. There was a contradictory setting with regards to TIR and Zoom.
  21. A powered USB Hub eliminated all my X55 issues. Now if only something that simple could fix DCS's issues (like TIR) !!
  22. PS> It works fine in other Mods eg: Mustang
  23. I updated my DCS to the latest today. After checking all my Option Settings i.e. Controller Settings, I noticed that my Zoom In/Out does not work. The Controller (hat switch) no longer zooms at all now. What's up with that ?
  24. What's with the Trim Reset SOUND EFFECT ? It is a truly weird noise when I hit the Trim Reset Button. Sounds like a few things going on as opposed to a "Click" !!????
  25. I also absolutely agree. With a more detailed and/or accurate damage model, it might not take a full loadout to shoot down a smoking 109 or 190. Plus when something is smoking, usually that is relatively critical and probably only a matter of time before something fails (reducing overall effectiveness in the dogfight ? maybe). If it's streaming fuel, then it should run out of fuel in "X" amount of time/miles. A few things could make the fight seem a bit more balanced. As long as it doesn't just mess something else up during the process !!
