  1. I agree the truth hurts. But I also appreciate the truth over anything else. All in all, I appreciate the replies and the detailed information that will guide my way ... whichever way that is.
  2. And all this time I thought that was a smokin' CPU !! It has all gotten too complex ... and expensive .. for me. Probably time to find another hobby ... fishing maybe !
  3. I know this is an ancient post/thread ... but How does one create the Spoiler's Category for their posts ? I'd like to post my system specs (because I have been asked for them on a few occasions).
  4. Hi Yurgon Here are my system specs: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AMD FX-8350 8 Core 4.01 GHz Water Cooled 16 Gig Corsair RAM GeForce GTX 750 Ti 27" Monitor @ 1910x1080 I don't see myself using VR simply because I am too crippled to twist around looking overhead and behind (like in a real plane). This is one of the things I do like TrackIR over VR. But as it turns out, my Motherboard is only PCIE 2.0 The 1080 video cards all seem to be PCIE 3.0 While I could plug a new card in, my system wouldn't be able to take advantage of the PCIE 3 benefits (whatever they are ?). SO .. I will have to look for some other alternative for now maybe which will hopefully at least make DCS World 2 (NTTR and WW2 maps) playable which they currently are not ... especially the latter. Any Suggestions ? PS> I don't have any SSD's I just don't see the value yet because load times are still too long even for those IMO and the storage capacity is costly. That said, it is an addition I will consider in the future. It's not a priority right now. Furthermore ... I HATE reloading Windows and Software and Updates etc. Drives me NUTS !
  5. Ya you shouldn't have ANY probs with DCS 1.5 or 2
  6. I am noticing that most people are purchasing a Nvidia 1080 Ti or similar caliber video cards. I am currently using the GeForce Gtx 750 Ti which is good enough for DCS 1.5 (most of the time.. except campaigns with lots of crap going on around me.. then major Frame Rate drops). DCS World 2 "recommends" the 780 Ti Will the 780 Ti really do the job OR should I be getting a much higher Video Card to run NTTR and Normandy .... both of which are almost unplayable for me especially Normandy.
  7. Win 7 64bit ... No Hurry to upgrade until I absolutely have to. I have always been a couple years behind (for good reason). I severely dislike the entire Win10 layout ... reminds me of 3.1 ... but worse to navigate.
  8. Hello 1coroner aka Ken Unless you have a SMOKIN' Video Card and PC I recommend you stick with DCS 1.5 (which can be demanding enough). This will help avoid Frame Rate issues so you can study flight without issue. Furthermore, you get the TF-51 with it for free (and frequent Sales offer the P-51 very reasonably priced). And if you need help with training, there are many here that will offer to help online (including myself who you are welcome to PM). PS> I have a really good PC and a really good video card, but it still isn't enough to appreciate DCS World 2 (Nevada) and definitely can't enjoy the WW2 map until I invest another $600-$1000 on a better/recommended video card.
  9. I just flew in a mission I created a long time ago to learn how to hover in the Huey. It appears that there is something goofy going on with the Cargo hookup. First of all I have NEVER used the Auto-Unhook keyboard command but I do have a Lever I use to disconnect my cargo (when it doesn't otherwise auto-unhook on touchdown). For that matter I have never used the Auto-Connect RCtrl+RShft+L until this mission either. Until Today, I have Never seen the message ROPE TEAR (or whatever it says). That to me is knew. This I noticed in My Mission / Cargo Training when after a very simply Hover and Cargo Hookup, I Lift ... slowly but the bloody cargo unhooks and I get the Rope Tear message. I don't think I can possibly lift any slower or easier. There is definitely something wrong with this IMO. I noticed in the Subject Campaign's Mission 3 that while I did see the cable attached (more than once) I Never saw the Cargo Connected message. So I'm not so sure it's a Campaign issue and may not even be a Huey ISSUE ... But then How would I know AND WHO do I take this issue to ? Belsimtek or DCS ?
  10. I'm having great difficulty with this mission. First of all, regardless what the Mission PDF Notes and In-Game Mission Notes might say, there is no Cargo Hookup when on the ground. Furthermore, I don't know if it's just the wind or also Turbulence but I have NEVER had so much problem Hovering since I started flying the Huey (2+ yrs ago) but then I seem to get Really Bad Frame Rates in this mission for some odd reason. It's not like I don't have a good system and video card or nothing but it certainly seems to be getting harder to fly anything in DCS anymore without spending $800-1000 dollars on JUST the video card (which I don't have to spend). But there isn't much going on except at the very beginning with the Wind Sock which makes it look like a 100 mph wind !!! and a Chinook then the wind sock disappears ??? I'm using a 4.3 Mhz 8 Core PC, 16 Gigs RAM, GeForce GTX 750 Ti Anyway, I have used the RCntl+RShft+L to no avail .. hovering or parked beside the cargo real close. I have a button for auto release but that hasn't been necessary yet. I use the Cargo Manager RCtrl+RShft+P I have unsuccessfully tried to take a couple screenshots that clearly show the cargo line is hooked but then I get that stupid message telling me to check to make sure I have cargo ... which is NOT connected. Even though the huey flies like it's over loaded. WT Heck ..? Is it just me or something wrong with this mission ?
  11. I had this very same issue for quite some time ... until only recently. What was suggested in another thread was that I contact DCS via USER SUPPORT Trouble Ticket. Which is what I did. I'm not sure but I believe this is the ONLY way to successfully get that Update/Install Notice eliminated. So I filled out a Ticket which included the Lic. Key for BS 2 Upgrade and provided my info (to validate/verify I am the Key Owner) and asked if they'd kindly UNBIND the Key for me. They did so promptly and I haven't had the issue since. Have a great day and Happy Flights.
  12. Ya ... What Udat said ! I'm going with him on this one.
  13. I completely suck at Air-to-Air combat in general (at least since I moved from Aces High to DCS) but I don't think it has anything to do with the Sites. Fixed or Gyro, the Range and Wing Span settings are completely adjustable on-the-fly if you set it up either using the keyboard or a wheel or whatever on your Hotas. You can preset as you desire and change if and whenever you need OR Spray and Pray in Fixed Site Mode regardless of Convergence.
  14. I can't answer your question re: hiding player's aircraft BUT I have heard others say they'd rather not see their aircraft marked on the F10 map (or even Kneeboard). But I for one think the Sim assumes that IF you are a pilot, then you should know well how to Navigate. Therefore you should know where you are ... almost at all times ... or ... you are LOST ! I don't care if other aircraft or vehicles (not yet located anyway) are shown on the map, but I do think it's important to have the Player's Aircraft/Vehicle displayed on F10 (and Kneeboard) at all times. Again, it assumes that you are a competent pilot who can navigate. On the other hand, IF DCS also had a Pre-Flight Navigation/Planning mode that included a Pilot's Navigation Calculator eg: E6B Slide Calculator (see IMAGE LINK at Bottom) then we could do all sorts of Pre-Flight Planning taking into account, Distance, Altitude, Heading, Wind Speed and Direction, Beacons etc etc etc. But then we wouldn't get nearly as much Flight Time !! Heck, I even have a Flight Log Book ... but DCS Fills in a log book for us already ! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c4/StudentE6BFlightComputer.jpg/1024px-StudentE6BFlightComputer.jpg
  15. You mean I was Actually Correct ? I was just kidding when I suggested it was for shorter people, even though it seemed to make sense to me when looking at them. I certainly had No Idea to be sure !
  16. Have you tried Saved Games/DCS Version/Missions folder ? They must be Unzipped.
  17. I'm sorry to say that there is no way to gift this Key to you. I knew I had read it somewhere >> "Sharing and trading of modules is a violation of the EULA and is not longer possible." But the Upgrade only cost me $12.99 If you wait there might well be another sale on BS2 Upgrade. Sorry I'm unable to follow through. In the end, the BS2 FULL is worth the investment IMO.
  18. I had BS1 then bought the Upgrade. But to prevent future issues, I ultimately purchased BS 2 FULL. If I'm not mistaken, we can no longer Gift Keys to others (at least none that have already been activated) otherwise I'd gladly give you my BS 2 Upgrade Module/Key. If it IS still possible to do that, let me know and I'll gladly give you my upgrade.
  19. Hi lefty1117 You are welcome to PM me for a copy of my x-55 profile. It works well for all the important switches n' things including Battery, Ignition, Fuel setting, Trim and Weapon Sight Ranging etc. I have had a few people ask for mine who all seemed to like it. PS> I have TrackIR and PTT functions on the Stick as well.
  20. I'm curious why you believe that Training Missions are inferior to learning Weapons from a Manual ? The Training Missions teach you how to use the Weapons Systems in the Gazelle quite well IMO. I agree having a written reference can be handy at times but the systems in the Gazelle are so basic and minimal that there isn't much to remember (or forget). I haven't flown ANYTHING in 4 months (needed a break) but I'm confident that I will remember all that I need to remember the minute I jump back into the Gazelle (and most other Modules that I have flown). Anyway, give the Training Missions a go before you shoot them down (so-to-speak). Then after practicing what you learn in those missions/tutorials and referring to that which IS in the Manual (typos and all) if you still have questions, there are many of us here that are willing and able to help you with ANY questions you may still have. Plus you will likely receive the help you need rapidly in these Forums. Best of Luck and Happy Flights friend.
  21. The lower bar is for short-legged pilots ! hehe
  22. I'll say it one more time. It doesn't matter what the wind direction was ... what matters is The OPPOSITE rudder to that which would NORMALLY be required ... was what was required. And obviously it has been corrected. It bugs me when replies assume everyone is a newb to flight.
  23. Yes there is a Beer Keg Mod (just kidding) ... but it's a keg of piss-warm Guinness !
  24. I don't know if anyone else does this, but I have a notepad document on my computer where I keep a copy of ALL my Mod License Keys. I don't know if I will ever need to get at them from this document, but it takes up no HD space to have an extra copy of them written down. Plus they are easy to Copy/Paste if/when asked during a startup or installation. I just like to have the redundant opportunity to access those License Keys (eg: without having to log into DCS Online or DCS World).
  25. When all else fails, the MANUAL's are handy references including info re setting up Controls and using CA.
