PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
schurem replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
W00t, just took delivery of my set! I am dog tired from work, but as soon as my wits are gathered again, I'll be pointing like a boss! ... soo... how does this calibration routine work? Whoa... Also, there seems to be a bit of tape over the camera's sensor. Should I take this off or does it have an important function?- 3421 replies

Ideal would be if the UI (menu screens, mission editor, options etc) were on the monitor and it only switches to VR on mission load.

Or open the canopy.

Is it technically possible to make base textures better?
schurem replied to Gierasimov's topic in DCS 2.9
Pfff yeah is not perfect. What is? There are worse things. -
The mission builder could have chosen to prohibit the SAM to fire at munitions. It's an option you set in the group settings window.

Three cheers for the replanting of the Georgian forests! Those vineyards looked terribly out of place ;-)

And the F-5E and the Hornet. They almost all flex their wings. Taxiing an F-5 is pretty scary if you've never seen that. It's such a light machine, that sidewinder on the tip looks like a serious weight!

Build 2.5.5.35461 broke my randomized triggers
schurem replied to schurem's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
Nice! thanks Grimes! -
Hi all, I built a couple of small scenario's that spawn random OPFOR. I used a trigger system to do this. * One trigger, on mission start, that puts a random value between 1 and 100 in flag 1. * One trigger for fighter group A that activates it on condition of flag 1 being more than 1 AND less than 25. * One trigger for fighter group B that activates it on condition of flag 1 being more than 25 AND less than 50 * One trigger for fighter group C that activates it on condition of flag 1 being more than 50 AND less than 75 * One trigger for fighter group D that activates it on condition of flag 1 being more than 75 AND less than 100 Now on tuesday, on the 'stable' version, this would give me one of four possible groups. Today this no longer works, no fighters get activated. For some reason the only way I can get this to work is a 50/50 chance with one group having the single condition MORE than 50 and the other LESS than 50. Having both (more and less) conditions leaves the groups unactivated! Le bug? I suspect something broke when it comes to evaluating trigger conditions. Also, if anyone knows of a more elegant solution to activating one out of a number of groups, I'd be happy to learn :smartass: trainAA4.miz

Hi, I started rebuilding my A2A exercise run. I wanted to run it to see if the weather settings check out. It crashed to desktop instead of loading the mission. DCS.log is attached. (might be an idea to set the forum to accept .log as an acceptable file format if y'all want us to submit them. Having to zip 'em up is just another hoop to jump, non?) Gah, turns out I had old roughmets modded in, repair fixed me. dcs.zip

I hope a vineyard bug fix is in. I had to turn ground object shadows off, and while I do appreciate the added smoothness this brings to the sim, I miss the depth and realism the flat shadows gave.
-
Oh dear, I'm afraid I haven't kept around logs but I'm quite certain letting the sim re-do the shaders after an update or driver update has unf$#ed the graphics on multiple occasions. Alas, it did not fix the Caucasus vineyard bug.
-
So just for completeness' sake if I were to want to add some randomness to my training scenario's, how would I go about spawning stuff on a percentage chance, or picking one out of four units to spawn? Say I want a chance of about 33% of a MiG appearing over the target, and the SA-2 site being placed either north or south of the target, how would I do that?

One advantage of center stick is you can hold a position with the left hand while the right one does something else, like fiddle with an MFD, tune a radio or sip a coffee.

Doesn't A-10C feel more flight capable in real life?

You sir, won the internet for today O7 -
JHMCS to TGP would be nice.

The Cuacasus apparently has grown a very large wine industry almost overnight, because what used to be woodland has turned into this: Latest patch, latest GeForce drivers, deleted shader cache (metashaders2 and FXO) before loading.

Hi Miles, I saw you are sending out units to people that are way later on the list than me, is there some step in the process I have missed? I'd still love to someday receive one. Wouldn't mind getting to the back of the line if necessary. Cheers- 3421 replies

You sir, are my hero. Going to HSI, then DATA. WPT, UFC and set ELEV to zero does the trick!

Weasel dance is almost as fun as BFM tango. For an easy beginner's exercise try running an SA-2 site dry. Its quite doable, but it will make you go splat if and when you make grave mistakes.

Its a pretty simple copypasta job to put it there. I will edit this post with detailed instructions how to when I get at the PC again.

It is not, the mail ocntains a one-pixel image that links to a thingamiebob on the digitalcombatsimulator.com domain that counts reads. It's odd and looks very fishy indeed. Bad show there ED! This is what's in the body of the message:

[REPORTED] Inconsistent accuracy between GP bomb types
schurem replied to vctpil's topic in Bugs and Problems
Does the map matter as well? AUTO bombing LGB's go way long on the Gulf map. But I has some fairly good results on the caucasus map...
