  1. RB said the modules will receive no further support until... whenever. When whenever comes around and there is support again, you will be correct. And I will be delighted. As it stands right now, my RB modules are orphans.
  2. it's more than speculation, unfortunately. RB basically told everyone to pound sand. Maybe just to pound sand temporarily, but pound sand none the less. As it stand, right now, the entire set of modules has been abandoned. That could change tomorrow, and I really hope it does, but right now... I have an F-15E, a Harrier, and an SA map that are orphaned. That is the reality. The speculation is that they will not still be orphans tomorrow.
  3. I'm not convinced of that yet, but it might not be too hard to convince me either. At $100Cdn. for a plane, it really should be made clear what support the module will receive.
  4. Completely disagree. With an established product like DCS, with a long history of EA module releases. there is a reasonable expectation of continued support. Sometimes prompt, sometimes not so prompt. But at no point is there an expectation of official abandonment of a module, much less an entire set of modules. If that were anywhere in the ballpark of being an accepted sales practice, nobody would buy anything.
  5. I just want my F-15E to work and be updated. Ducks need to be put in a row.
  6. Good but not great. Cairo is fun because it's freaking huge, but the map leaves me a bit cold. Again, a good map, but not a great map. The Syria map remains the gold standard. And you can get it on sale.
  7. No Kiowa for me, though it seems many others are very happy to get it. All my chopper brain cells are reserved for the Chinook.
  8. I like fictional liveries. I was delighted that my Ka-50 came with an RCAF skin. And I add RCAF liveries to all my aircraft. I'm just here for the fun of flying and I like my domesticated planes.
  9. I find the trim to be very sensitive on my Warthog HOTAS. That said, I lack any kind of expertise to say if that is the way it should be. Be nice if it was cut in half, but maybe that's not realistic, I don't know.
  10. You're both angry and accusatory. I suggest more flying and less posting. And with the time you save posting less often, you can delete those files that seem to bother you. It's a win all around.
  11. +1 The A-10C is so complicated and so good I always feel like I have to relearn it. So it always feels like I have a new plane to fly around.
  12. By only doing what's fun. For example, I have never, not once, done a cold start in any module. It's not fun to me. But I do learn to drop LGBs in all the planes and blow big holes in things. That is fun for me. And I'm just here for the fun of it.
  13. Agreed. I've been using a 1TB NVME for a few years and have lots of planes, and all the maps of course, and I'm sure I can install Afghanistan and the Chinook and still keep between 10% and 20% free on the drive. We're at the point with DCS where storage space is as required as much as a good GPU. There's no getting around it. A couple more maps and many will hit around a 1TB install size. When a game, even an incomplete version of it, is hundreds and hundreds of GBs, there is no getting around the storage issue. And as you said, options are reasonably priced, will last for years, and are in line with the expenditures the game already requires.
  14. I'm just taking you at your word. You've said this is a problem that isn't really a problem, and I agree. Yet you write about it at great length, for days. If you are going to do that then it is reasonable to expect a response. And we are both free to respond - or not - as we see fit. And at this point I think the time you have spent writing about the "problem" has far surpassed the time required to handle the problem. So efficiency remains an issue. Good name for a premium pasta sauce. ...being correct. It's a heavy burden, But I manage it.
  15. The eternal quest for truth. I find it fascinating when non-problems are elevated to the rank of near disaster by the same people saying it's a non-problem, requiring a long series of even longer posts to elucidate. Like all that nonsense with some people saying the Assets Pack was "splitting the community", even though they said the cost of the Assets Pack was in no way the issue, and yet were bothered that people had to buy it, even though they said the cost was in no way the issue, but were still bothered that people had to buy it, even though they said the cost was in no way the issue...
  16. See, if you actually read what I said, it means you would've got the fact that I realize it has to be done repeatedly. But you yourself said it takes very little time. You're doubtlessly spending far more time writing about how much time it takes than the time it takes to actually do it. And I would repeat that your analogy to remapping your HOTAS is a non-analogy. I read what you write and I understand what the argument is. You've repeatedly asked why you should have to have files on your PC that you don't want or use. My response is somewhere between "That's the nature of software" and "Life isn't fair". And as by pretty much everyone's account this qualifies as verrrrrry low on the to-do list, and presents no real problem at all to anyone, I feel at liberty to point that out. And you exhibit an ability to advocate for solutions to non-problems with a level of precision and vehemence that is unmatched. Kudos.
  17. I'm at 700GB on a dedicated 1TB NVME. I'll get a Samsung 2TB NVME later this summer. I like their cloning software. I agree that a livery manager might be nice to have, but for sure it's wayyyy down on the "things to do" list. I'd much rather have a model for a Black Lab to go in second seat of the Mosquito. Dog goggles and scarf optional.
  18. I read what you write. I just don't agree with it. Deleting some skin files that cause you no headache at all as far as storage goes and are quick to delete - as you yourself said - bears no resemblance to being forced to repeatedly remap your HOTAS. It's not in the same ballpark. It's not even on the same planet. It is, in effect, a non-analogy. I can't imagine that my argument against it is of any less weight than your argument for it. I believe it to be a non-problem. A feather amongst lead weights. A sardine amongst sharks. A loin cloth amongst well tailored suits. As we have both done. Everything is fine.
  19. If you have the time to post here, you have the time to adjust the files to your liking.
  20. Then delete them. Problem solved. You're welcome.
  21. I require guidance to reach the promised land. Not a big deal for me, to be honest. So far. Speaking of seeing the light, off to repent in an hour. I'll put in a good word for you.
  22. Liveries only represent a small amount of install size of storage space. That fact is completely relevant. Probably because the developers see this as a non-issue unworthy of their time. And as you still have over 400GB free on a 1TB drive that's solely dedicated to DCS World, this would appear to be a non-issue for you as well. I have less than 300GB free on a 1TB drive that's dedicated solely to DCS World and it's certainly a non-issue for me. You can manage whether or not 3rd party skins are installed.
  23. Lots of planes I would have rather had, but this is such a well put together module it can't be ignored. And you're right, it has serious artistic cred.
  24. Well you must have done something right, because I was never a big Phantom fan at all, and as a maniacal mud mover, I don't spend much time doing A2A in DCS. And here I am going A2A in the Phantom and it's a lot of fun.
  25. I only got this plane because I insist on having the most up to date flightsim high-tech toys, not because I had any great love for the Phantom. But I am really digging this plane and the antiquated but oh-so-cool smart weapons. Something joyous about locking up a target while the AAA is pounding away. it's the 1960s version of the Space Shuttle of Death. Just need a good RCAF skin.
