  2. This is a MOD and has been cited numerous times for causing problems in DCS - in your \Saved Games\DCS folder, rename your \Saved Games\DCS\Mods folder to mods-bak and restart DCS, if everything runs normally (obviously the UH-60 blackhawk mod will not work) then this mod is the culprit.
  3. It was possibly me who asked this question in January last year and it was only driven by a desire to make cinematic videos more engaging. For those who only fly and die it would be totally irrelevant, I get that and as far as ED is concerned there are many, many more pressing issues.

At mission start the TRAIN is set to invisible - as it hits the trigger zone ARMOR 1 & 2 and ARMOR 3 & 4 are activated as is the signal smoke - ARMOR 1 & 2 don't fire on the TRAIN because it is invisible. When the TRAIN passes through WP 1 invisibility is cancelled and ARMOR 1 & 2 fire on the TRAIN Speed does not seem to be able to be varied (other than stopping at a given WP) The VIDEO is in case you don't have the KOLA map Train test.trk Train test.miz
  5. Good to note that sometimes bugs DO get fixed! My post re. TRAINS last March highlighted problems with trains and useful integration in a mission, all of my points now seem to have been addressed so a BIG thank you to the ED team!
  6. @BIGNEWY @NineLine I am aware that ED have said that they are looking into the performance related problems that are plaguing a lot of players and that troubleshooting an issue such as this one can be a lengthy, complicated business but I feel than interim bulletins (however placatory) would go a long way to alleviate the frustrations voiced by your client base.

It was quite funny! @SharpeXB with your high end rig you might be somewhat immune to the current plethora of performance related problems being reported here but there are also some with equally high end rigs that are experiencing stutters and general drop in frame rates in missions where previously there were no problems.

  10. @BIGNEWY I have asked this question before but haven't had any explanation, what is ANTIFREEZE ENABLED? I had never seen it in my logs previous to the last couple of updates.

  13. Agreed but I don't think I have ever been able to eject from the Viper after being hit, I think 'cockpit damage' level is set too low, almost every type of impact kills the pilot.

That made me laugh but yes, I remember Ghost Recon in the early 2000s having far superior animation, I am aware that ED would say they focus on flight modeling and aerodynamic accuracy however I also know that DCS cinematic videos sell the "game" to newcomers and having The Woodentops charging around doesn't help marketing.
  15. Cards on the table - I have no interest in flying helos but they are useful to integrate into missions and for cinematic purposes. To this end, for the first time, I have incorporated the new (long awaited) CH-47 into a mission. Helo flies in - troops embark, helo flies to LZ - troops disembark. It all works BUT... Imagine my surprise as 1) The cargo door doesn't open? 2) The troops don't climb aboard they simply disappear? 3) Then using F4 to look inside I see the helo is empty? Remember, this is the first time I have used embark / disembark in 4 years of DCS so the whole thing was a big, disappointing surprise. I can only imagine that this total lack of any realistic animation is due to EA on this module? As the Chinook is really ONLY a transport aircraft, the total lack of believable transportation seems to undermine the very existence of this module?

  19. I think the WHOLE AI comms needs an overhaul. More / different voices / more call signs / more varied ATC calls...
  20. As @draconus points out, the question of liveries is, and has been, hotly debated! On my installation .dds files account for a little more than 100 GB, the majority of which I will never use. I personally think that ED will, in the fullness of time, integrate a livery manager...
  21. Given the quantity of posts on this forum (and others) relating to stutters and lag since the last couple of updates I imagine it is something that the devs are aware of through the conduit of @BIGNEWY and @NineLine....
