Funny thing about it is that I freed up some ~2GB and it wasn't enough still. In the end I freed up some space on C by moving some recordings off of the usual Windows folders and use that free space to temporarily park another game there to be able to update.
-
Just 26MB short of disk space in these days... I definately need a bigger SSD - 1TB simply is not enough!
-
Strangely I can't hear them pop though... But it's great fun to smash them all in a row with an S-Pen on my Tab S6
-
Thanks for clarifying that. BTW with that in mind, I am extremely confident that we will fly the "Klappdrache" one day in DCS, simply because of this: https://adamsgroup.de/sit/ I guess it's pretty much likely that True Grit will pick up the Tornado as their next module after delivering the Eurofighter - having the needed connections to the GAF with that VR training simulator right there already.
-
Well, my first guess was the AH-64, alternaties I thought possible were the MiG-29 and a collab with Heatblur on either a Tornado or F-111. Then BN and 9L said it wasn't going to be anything that's been teased already so I thought the Apache was out as it had been teased at least since 2018 (Wags Interview in a video where he taught someone CnDing the Hornet, when he also mentioned Syria for the first time - he said the Boeing licence wasn't only for the Hornet), well even further back before the Shark was out there's been A model blk 49 cockpit shots on SimHQ (still there today). So TBH I'm kinda confused that this one, which had been ruled out, actually shall be the eagerly awaited brain melter. Anyway, I'm totally happy with it being teased as a D model with the Westinghouse mm-wave radar. As to say an Apache was expected, now a Longbow is confirmed As for the Tornado being off the table now I'm rather sad... But I won't give up hopes, for one reason. I usually watch the German channel of VoodooDE for VR news and game first impressions. As of recently, he's got another 50+€ patreon which is Adams Group Simulations - and as a flight simmer I naturally was curious about them. They turned out to be a company who create and maintain VR training flight sims for the Luftwaffe, both Eurofighter and Tornado. With Gero Finke involved and TrueGrit and Eagle Dynamics logos on their site. Since TG already stated they would look into making a Tornado module after finishing the EF, I would expect them to be the ones with the best chances to be allowed to do that Then the F-4 statement with it being off as well with the option for a 3rd party to pick it up was a shock to me. But maybe there's already something yet to be announced around that, and I do want to get that from HB as many others there. And they'd really be the guys who literally could nail it, also making naval versions and not just the E model. They've done some great work already that can be used as base for the thing and we'll even get an appropriate carrier with the Forrestal from them. I'd really celebrate getting the Phantom from HB if it's not coming from ED

I'm glad to see the upcoming goodies. When the "eagerly awaited brain melter" was first mentioned, my initial though was just the AH-64D, and well, it's "just" that even though BN kept saying it never had been announced or teased before. Still glad to have it in the pipeline officially now. The clouds in that video look so awesome it's hard to believe that it is DCS I was watching. What a great job! Can't wait to clear those skies in 10 seconds flat And as always, the quality of the video went from 10 to 11 - again. I really wonder when GA reaches his peak where he can't get any better... and Nick's voice in it made it (almost) perfect I wish the team Happy Hearth's Warming, as happy as it can be with the current restrictions. Fly safe and see you in a hopefully better year!

Some great notes there. Didn't expect the multicrew thing and I'm happy to see the Harrier being able to taxi on idle.

Well, ED literally already brought out screenshots over a decade ago. That in combination with those whennotif statements are actual announcement enough for me. Well, just remember "The Winter will be in the Claw of the Cat" - the thing literally was released one week before it was Spring. When a company sais "this year", expect the next one. By the end of that. Doesn't get you disappointed in the end Well, I was kinda expecting the announcement to be in the newsletters, the last one before Christmas and ED hopefully being in their well-deserved holidays will be this Friday. Either that or as you mentioned, in the "and beyond" video

Well, as title sais. I have a thread opened, try to tick 3 posts for example. When I select the third, the counter in the lower right corner flashes, but stays at 2 quotes and when I click that button it actually just takes the first post, no more.
-
Well, that's next year for me then. Would have had some time for it today only. But when it needs more time, it is what it is.

Ctrl + B / I / U do work But those seem to be the only ones. Well, when trying to save a post (anyone ever had a crash or something when writing up a wall of text?), a markup version would definately be useful, since you could just paste the thing back in with all the stuff. Now I can't use Notepad++ anymore to save my posts before dropping them here if they're a bit bigger than this one. BTW if I'd just take any of the posts within here and scale my screen image to 32:9, none of them would fit the screen at all - so that's all relative. Just sayin', cos I know some people are crazy enough to have such weird monitors.

As much as you might be spot on with this, I'd very much hate companies for being companies if that was the case. DCS is never competition to a 3rd party addon to a civsim. Not even remotely. And TBH, if such a license would be blocked by a 3rd party that only works for a civsim, this would be such an utter waste to be fair. This certainly is a point, but exactly there come the problems and managing on how to deal with those is the nut to crack. Well, I'd personally suggest having the control inputs merged, just as if you'd put two controlers in UJR with "Merge" (maybe it's another function, don't quote me on that exactly, but it's in there) that result in one axis. Each of them control the thing just fine, but everytime the other controller does some input as well, it kinda gets added. So basically if the student flies a 60° AoB 2G turn, but the teacher wanted him to do less, he could always correct the attutide with his stick - of course while telling him at the same time so he doesn't try to correct the corrections. Now the real deal here is latency. Something we simply can't just overcome, especially over the internet. As long as mankind has yet to overcome the speed of 1c with literally anything (waves, signals, etc), we won't be having that without noticable delay ever. Basically there should at least be an option to do the "You have control" - "I have control" - "You have control" thing by clicking some keybinds, comm options or whatever, but it should absolutely not be mandatory right off the bat. Also a tricky thing to solve is anything that's sliders or rotaries. You can't just merge those which is fine for sticks and rudders (without FFB though, that would need a different treatment), since you're literally adding another amount of force to what's applied already by the other guy. Well, considering that ED didn't bring updates or newsletters over the holidays in the past and usually come back in January, they literally do have two more newsletters (11th and 18th) to tell us which the brain melter is going to be, unless they really delay the announcement altogether because of reasons. Oh and well, the more I've read this thread, the more I tend to believe it's going to be: I mean, there's literally everything else ruled out, well, almost But in the end, I'll just wait another two weekssoon™ and see
-
Some nice ideas, and I just want to see the header image within the forum posts...
-
The real question is, what they meant by that - I mean if you look at what the other sim does, you'll immediately notice it has real time (well, with a certain delay anyway) real weather that gets constantly updated every 15 or so minutes while the whole thing gets computed locally to go on on your local rig at the same time, so the updates are more or less syncs. I highly doubt ED will give us that and I don't think we need it either. But since they already said their new weather engine would comprise humidity, air pressures, temperatures and other such factors, I tend to excpect it to be similarly detailled and accurately simulated, based on given presets that we'll be able to set in the ME to some extent. I mean, we do have a dynamic weather generator in DCS already, so this isn't totally new to begin with. As for the looks, ED always kinda set the bar (if HB didn't already) when they added something new or took something old and rusty to an overhaul. And the fact that we'Re still waitings makes me believe they really want to crack a nut here and not do something half baked where everyone afterwards would come by and be like "but the other product is still so much prettier and better".
-
I dig the "night mode", ED even thought of adding an appropriate header image to that. Just blanked out the times so it's always active.

The news sound great. Totally looking forward to that map expansion there. @BIGNEWY As for the Syria map getting Cyprus added, have you gotten any response or news on the Lake of Galilei not being below MSL as IRL yet? It would be great if that could get fixed while the thing is being worked on, but the last time this topic came up we simply didn't know if it was due to an internal engine limitation or something else. Also I think it's pretty news on the board software topic. I presume IPS is Invision Power Services, so technically the new software will be the same that the other (WWII) sim's company uses, which would be great. That one does have some minor quirks as well, but all in all I do like it a lot. I think it's great that you guys considered and decided to switch to another software completely. BTW as for the BB Codes on that one, you can't enter those anymore, but do all the things that would be possible with them with the WYSIWYG editor. It has some nice features like automatically recognizing links for posting images or Tube embeds, so you don't even have to mess around with tags anymore at all. Just drop the thing and it will convert it accordingly, giving you the option to revert to a "plain text paste" anytime. ED just has to lift the limit of images per post (IIRC there was a default of like 5), so we aren't limited in smiley/emoticon usage by that. Well that's one of those config things that have to be done and probably won't take long.

I know that issue too well, and it has always been one for me with DCS. But well, when my vision went south a few years ago, it became a very big issue. The latest lighting and haze changes (2.5.6, I'm talking to you) made it even a bit worse, also affecting gound targets a lot which were still easy enough for me to spot in 2.5.5. The only solutions I found that do help me a bit are using Mustang's shader mod and customized dot labels (search for "smeared label mod", that is quite subtle, but helps noticably), which literally makes like 98% of the MP servers for me a no go (low render performance on my stone age rig online put aside).

Just accidentally hit "restart" on campaign screen after 6 missions!! Help!
Eldur replied to coolts's topic in General Bugs
I use Acronis True Image and always do full backups on alternating externals. The part that takes ages is backing the 1TB and 4TB HDDs. After all it's my data that I want to save up. In case I could reinstall Windows anytime, but getting my data back would be impossible without backups. And I don't do incrementals becasue I don't want to have a backup system that relies on a gazillion of incremental files where the whole thing breaks completely if one of the files in chain fails. My system SSD is done in about 15-20 minutes though. BTW as for the data HDDs it's actually faster to just copy the stuff via Windows, weirdly. That said, I'm still on stone age SSDs that are plugged to Cretaceous SATA ports and USB 2 since Gigabyte's Z77 USB3 ship is effin unreliable (that brand is so dead for me, biggest mistake I ever made) and you don't want a backup process to be constantly aborted because "the thing could go faster" messages poppin' up all the time and resetting the connection. Those ain't even remotely fast to these days' standards. -
That would literally become the definite Flight Simmer's Mecca. Everyone has to get there at least once in their life and worship the holy holyness of Flight Simming.

I don't... takes 10+ hours to do that everytime -
As far as I'm aware of, the Immersion patents dropped 2 years ago already. And even with those patents up, Logitech, Saitek and even TM and CH did have FFB sticks, and Logitech even had a HOTAS out for a couple of weeks in 2009, but they literally pulled it because it was crap quality (one word: hysteresis) and wasn't well accepted because of that. And after all, the MS FFB2 did it best - by far. The only alternative out there is the massively overpriced Brunner base (well, they're aiming at professional/business sector) that doesn't even support classic FFB at all and relies on special support which is non-existant for DCS as far as I know. Ah, memories. Back in the day when we had fearsome nightmares of that certain team eventually making an EF. I know why I never bought the thing in the first place. But it was always good for a laugh or two Achieved mine only though non-IC-compliant editing of the pylons data by simply inverting the rocket launcher drag coefficient. And that was after dropping the tubes...
