Why have you request Steam removed the A-10C Tank killer upgrade?
Eldur replied to ak22's topic in Steam Support
Has nothing to do with people exploiting sales. If it was available just recently like that, it was an error and ED corrected it. On the ED store you only have been able to buy the upgrade prior to the release of the upgrade for 10 bucks and then for 20 bucks for the first month after release, after that you had to get the complete pack no matter what. It never was listed separately there either. You just paid the lower price and the shop recognized if you had the original A-10C already or not and changed the price accordingly. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/245332-dcs-a-10c-ii-tank-killer-faq-mini-updates/?tab=comments#comment-4465954 -
(Controls completely redone from scratch here) I noticed the toe brake axes are literally dead in the first half and ED's axis manager doesn't allow me to compensate for that as I'd need the 4th slider there to fix it myself. It's usually a range definition thing (goes from -1 to +1, but only should be from 0 to +1). Also the joystick mapping for toggling the hook doesn't work, but the keyboard one does. The definition within the luas is different, so I just took over the one from the keyboard file for now. The FM feels great already. But the Scoots seemed to be a bit slow and underpowered to me. Wasn't getting anywhere close to the 585kts on the deck I've seen for the E model. Limit was somewhere between 450 and 500, but I might have done something wrong, just did a single flight so far. At least I didn't have any brakes, spoilers or flaps sticking out for sure One thing that bugged me multiple times though was the VR interaction with the damn flight stick. When trying to manipulate some switches in the center console (weapons stuff), I accidently grabbed the stick a few times with the controller which immediately pulled the thing to the far right and pushing it forward at the same time. The grab point seems to be at the upper right corner somewhere at the front of the thing instead of being centered somewhere where the actual grip is. At this point I'd also wish for ED giving us an option to disable stick/throttle interaction with the controllers.

You must be kidding, I was expecting the thing to drop in 2 weekssoon™

One simply can't have enough Tornado threads unless the thing finally exists in DCS

You simply can't drop all the old sim memories without having listened to this again: I really hope c0ff will bring us a menu soundtrack with a similar vibe. That piece is a legend.

Same. Noticed that the first time somewhere in summer, and it's still there. I use the TMWH and have the speedbrake mapped as the real thing, so forward rectracts (switch stays there and by official practice I keep it there so it won't pop out by itself), back extends and center does nothing so it just keeps the current state. The thing is: As mentioned I keep the switch forward after retracting. Now when I directly pull it back to extend, it doesn't work anymore, but it always did until it broke. When it doesn't work, recentering and pulling back the thing again makes the brake pop out finally. But it's also possible to prevent the problem from happening by not flying with the thing in the forward position (that wouldn't be by the book though) or waiting in the center position for a second or two before pulling the thing all the way back - but well, then there's that delay. I might take a track of that later and up it here.

Actually it was LB 2 with the 3 choppers, Gold only had the Longbow, but added the second campaign and some more in depth systems to the thing. I do have Gold installed in my DOSBox (which is why it's better than 2 today - it simply does run) and have been flying it within the last week since I wanted to revisit it. Makes me looking forward to the DCS module even more so now. Especially in VR it will be a blast, also having two guys in the same thing in MP... but also simply being able to use a HOTAS

Those FF gauges don't show AB flow like in other planes, that's just your dry FF. Anyway, I also tried her again today and barely made it to just under 2.2 whereas (well, before the December update) I could get her to 2.35 before. So basically the A now is as slow as the B - and lacking in speed. However: When reading from the bottom bar and taking the "TAS" there through a calculator, they do reach around 2.34ish, BUT: Literally every other plane in DCS is faster than they should by that method, so the Tomcat being measured differently doesn't compare. IIRC someone found out about a year ago, that the "TAS" in the bar actually is EAS, but I failed to understand what EAS actually is TBH, only got it so far that that was the cause for the speeds being too high on that infobar for almost all planes. Point is, I can reach the known Mach numbers in other planes in IMN, just not in the Tomcats.

Still seeing this as well, and BTW, the multiplayer server menu is affected as well, especially in VR where it truly gets a laghell.

+1 But also, I wish the anti skid would work in the first place and prevent this... I have yet to witness any use of it - in any module.

I guess they now work as had been posted on release of the module upgrade: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/245332-dcs-a-10c-ii-tank-killer-faq-mini-updates/?do=findComment&comment=4438260 Just guessing since the CMS commands listed there never matched, but behaved like the old ones (L and R to switch program, F to start and A to stop, D to switch jammer, no long commands at all). The way it's shown there seems to be much more intuitive and better and I'm glad to get it working like that.

The notes look great though. But I'm having some giggles when reading that things have been fixed on features which are being released with this very update in the Hornet section like TXDSG and SEA mode issues. But OTOH that clearly shows testing has been done and issues have been reported and fixed before getting those features out to us

Is it actually up yet? I keep getting "The installed version 2.5.6.59625.1 is up to date" while http://updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ sais "Current openbeta is 2.5.6.60645"

AI NPC - P-1112 Aigaion (flying aircraft carrier)
Eldur replied to Temp89's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I like fictional flying carriers, no matter if it's this one or the Pandora (which doesn't work anymore). -
The dark mode still has some issues, especially with some white background drawn around some text, as can be seen in this thread: Is is anywhere near possible to have that fixed soon? Not sure what causes this, but I suspect it's "Ctrl+C'n'V"ed content, some people do have that in ther sigs as well.

To be fair this thread is like buying a Veyron and asking if you should add the AC for 3k or not. If I could afford a 3090 and a 5900X (and even if - if those actually would be in stock somewhere on this planet!), I'd go ahead and plug 128 Gigs in there so I wouldn't have to worry about it at all, not even in 5 years.

Unsteady CPU usage, sometimes up to 60% for the Ryzen 5 3600
Eldur replied to GTX2660Ti's topic in Game Performance Bugs
How can DCS use 60% on 12 threads while being single threaded? I never ever see more than 25% on my quadcore without HT, which kinda makes sense. -
I tried that even with the server being on a different machine. Frames always end up down the drink that way, no joy at all... same as MP on the internet. Same map, noone there, a quarter or a third of the framerate. This really has to improve still.
-
Well, what does importing the old files change over leaving them there in the first place - I mean they are the same, literally. And why does DCS keep breaking those from time to time, without everyone being involved at the same time? Mine still seem to work so far, but I bet if I flew a module that I haven't touched in a year, its controls are back to default even with the profiles still there. Just had that with some of the WW birds a while ago...

Seeking clarification about end of Windows 7 support.
Eldur replied to Knock-Knock's topic in Chit-Chat
Win 7 does send telemetry data. So did XP. And Vista, 8 and 8.1 as well, for those who actually ran those. But Win 10 reportedly does record your voice all the time and sends that to Google. Look for "dog toys" if you don't beleive. But regardless, anything prior to 10 is dead support wise and shouldn't be used anymore (said the dude still running 'droid 4.4.2), welcome to post 84. That's what we wanted to know. Thanks. Anyway, users should have switched over to Open Alpha a year ago already, I mean - even I did. My wild guess though is that the chance of DCS getting bricked on 7 is less than Win 10 bricking itself with another feature update. So the relevant question that hasn't been asked yet should be: Will DCS 2.7 still run on 2004 (or even older) or does it require 2010 aka 20H2? Requiring "Windows 10" is like saying I have an i5 and a GeForce GTX. Could be anything. -
I remember back in the day of the last AH-64 sim made by MP (not sure if Jane's LB had it as well), it was possible to configure the rocket pods to carry different rocket types as they've been cut into 3 groups that supposedly are wired accordingly so you can select one of the groups directly. The first was the outermost "ring" (12 rockets, usually HE), the second were the upper and lower rows on the center (4 rockets, usually MPSM) and the third was the middle row in the center (3 rockets, usually Flechettes). Now my questions are: Is this actually realistic and if so, will we see it in DCS?

That's clearly something they should consider doing after finishing the SC module. After adding life to the boat deck, adding life to FARPs with all the helos we will have soon just seems mandatory.
