  1. Don't want to sound like a smart-ass, but that's why it is beneficial to use the hotas profiles for keybinds and not the in-game key setup. :)

    ArmA III

    Look that sky! Gorgeous.
  3. That was great :D
  4. http://twitpic.com/a3duh9/full Looks terrible, just in head-height. Good news is that she's concious, I realy hope she'll fully recover.
  5. I'm eager to see how TARS will handle the boom of 3rd party aircrafts. Having an in-engine VOIP that 3rd party developers can plug-into might be a little bit more efficient then relying on a 3d party mod, that is in turn relying on a 3rd party application. I'm not saying that ED should drop whatever they are doing and focus on VOIP implementation, but they shouldn't disregard the requirement for such functionality just because TARS does it.
  6. The ground shadows are bit too strong, but the self-shadowing on the airframe itself is superb, I especially love the subtle shadows around the F-16 engine. Will try this out :)
  7. It would be worth just for the forum rage :D
  8. Threath assessment might we one of the things he's talking about. The other thing might be seeing the bigger picture - other packages objectives and schedule. Because units visbility in the mission planner is linked with units visiblity in the F10 map you, most of the time, don't see anything apart from your own flight in the mission planner. So, while theoreticaly you can change payload and wps, in reality you have no information to base these changes on. Ability to separate units visibility in mission planner form the F10 map, or the ability to add mission planner specific icons, threath zones might help in that area. So mission designer can use the mission planner as part of the briefing... now it feels somewhat separated. DCS relies solely on the missions written briefing and pictures provided by the mission designed, and these most of the time don't contain anything more then a simple mission description. Another problem is that mission logic often relie on plane xy be in trigger zone zx, so changing you flight plan might break the mission logic. But this is something ED cannot affect, and is something mission designers should aware when creating missions.
  9. or graphic card driver
  10. offtopic: you can disable autoupdate....
  11. Because in that serious case of emergency (the hydro failure) you don't want to force the pilot to take his hands of the cyclic/collective.
  12. Tbh, it's only logical for Saudi to mobilize their troops, they want to have their borders secure if something does happen there. I cannot see this sparking a ww3, or anything bigger then a localized conflict, seriously, who would fight? You think that the citizens of the western countries would hapilly let conscricpt themselfs? I sure as hell would not go, would you? And as western goverments are unable to handle even regular mobs riots, I fail to believe they would be able to force people into a war they don't want to be a part of. And againts who would we fight? Syria? Or Russia? Please, I think people there would be 'overjoyed' if a conflict with the west sparked. The strong words are just part of the politics. Both east and west ones. This isn't the big patriotic beginning of the 20th centuries, when everybody marched into WW1 singing happily. Nor are there power hungry tyrants threating the soverignity of west-world contries, as it was in WW2. And pressing the button? The situation in the world was a helluva lot more tense during the cold war (spyplanes shot in the hearth of russia and stuff like that ;) ) and noone dared to press the button.
  13. Good read, thanks :)
  14. I doubt that you'll remain unnoticed over a flat area (sea). If Turks were able to track its own plane from Cyprus, why would they think Syrians woudln't be able from shorter distances?...it doens't make any sense. AFAIK the plane was equipped with a RWR, so they most likely had indications that Syrians knew about them. Not to mention that a steep climb over enemey territory doesn't sound like a wise idea to me. I agree with you, the incident is turning into a muscle-flex competition.
  15. looks fantastic :)
  16. I don't know. But I'm nor informed enough, nor educated enough to take wild guesses ;)
  17. At 200ft? Still sounds weird to me...you have no stored energy to defend againts a missile, and you are exposed to every SAM system, even shorad... its not like you can mask yourself with terrain over sea. What can you scan from 200ft (60m)? Wouldn't you get better results flying up high? ;)
  18. Recon at 200ft ASL? Sounds weird to me... how much can you recon from that altitude?
  19. Spain - Portugal.. Well, that was one boring game. Thank god for penalty kicks, or they would play happily ever-after
  20. Because it's distributed as a game, and every game (even land of ponies) needs an age rating before it can be distributed. i.e. Black Shark has a Teen ESRB rating, because there is violence. http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=26162&Title=DCS%3A%20Black%20Shark
  21. Imagine a persistent war theater, where tasks (or 'missions') are generated dynamically, based on the current state of war, strategies and priorities. For both air and ground assets. You then, as player, select one of the tasks generated (other missions are flown by AI) and fly it. Mission success (both your and AIs) affects the whole picture. Supply adds another level to it. Loosing and airframe is one less airframe that can be used for another missions... It adds a lot of replayability, but it's a PITA to do right, requires a LOT of work to make it work and A LOT more finetuning to make it work somewhat right :) And requires the sims core to support the whole persistence thing.
  22. It uses more then 2GB - that's the default memory limit for every process in a 32bit system. :) Can be extended to 3GB via the /3GB switch, by that can influence OS stability.
  23. You're speculating and *cough* politics...

    DCS: FPS

18years...amazing, I'm speechless every time I realize how computer simulations have evolved during that time. It's just....wow.. Makes me wonder what we'll be 'flying' in another 18years. :pilotfly:
