Would be a nice addition if the Engine could do the City complexity justice and it lined up with the expanded Syria map so that there was a seemless transition once we move to the world engine.
-
This is a bug/unimplemented feature. Its been reported and acknowledged by ED/Ugra, in the mean time you can embed Kneeboards in the aircraft folder or in the mission folder and both will flow through.
-
Given what Ugra have achieved with the Syrian Runways, I don't see why it is not possible. Have a look at Incirlik, Ramat David or Wujah to get a real feel for what the engine is capable of.

Wags has shown a bit of Cyprus from the air in some of the hornet videos, Personally I would prefer the landmass was included even if not finished so that the map is geographically complete if not fully detailed, but given the large volume of comments on the forums along the lines of 'When will it be released' 'why isnt it finished' 'Why cant you add airfield X' it wouldnt surprise me if you are right. It would be nice to see Marianas launched the same with all the islands in the chain even if not all are fully detailed at launch but it looks like that wont be the case either

Given the tone of the last few newsletters, I suspect both new maps will be 2.7. I dont think there are any more features coming to 2.5.6

I did the airfield diagrams for PG, but have not reviewed in the last few updates for frequency changes. I had a go at some other diagrams recently but there are a few issues with approach plates which I found when trying to recreate a set of actual plates for a larger field 1. The Map coordinates for PG dont align with the real world, there is a significant difference in some places. 2. The real life Nav aids dont exist consistently, things like the Camel race track or various refineries/flames which are used as reporting points are not there. 3. A lot of military fields have no published info so it is all guess work there anyway 4. the ATC in game does not have any visibility of either of these concepts so they are not going to ask you to fly an approach on the basis of these items or advise if you deviate. This last one is the real issue so until that changes (Which is probably 2022 at the earliest) Ive decided to park anything more detailed than Airfield Diagrams or ERC's until the sim catches up.

There is a GR video that covers it. Also a start up guide in English

I assumed it indicated damage to the location when used like that. There's a couple other instances of crosses marked in locations on fields in Syria and PG.

The thing I like about the Fixed wing flights is they All actually show a lot of the terrain around the airfields, while a RW would give you a bit more of a view of the field structures I really like getting that sense of what the regional terrain looks like. The Gaziantep video for example looks awesome. There's an additional 18 fields coming with every country on the map getting at least one more field, there's also the improvements to the hangar structures and a number of additional custom structures dropping in to enhance the scenery. Everything I've seen so far makes me think that its going to be a fairly substantial improvement on an already good map

Have a look in my thread on this subforum, I have the forthcoming airfields listed there based on what Maestro and ED announced.
-
Deir ez-Zur is included in the final set of fields so I would expect detail out to it.
-
I don't believe Al-Azraq is planned. detailing that far south would require Tel Aviv to be added as well which is quite a significant change. I thought it was nice to get a second Jordanian field on the list.
-
Gaziantep is looking great, nice to see that level of detail moving across into Northern Turkey.

Thanks for the catch I have corrected. May have been a typo on my part or something that changed along the way. a lot of the PG radios came from previous work

Wow these are really looking amazing!

The challenge in my opinion with the above example, is that all the land will be on the edges,so anytime you start on an airfield you will immediately hit the edge so in theory the map above would be constantly criticised for being 'empty/low quality' etc. There was an indication at one point that this was a consideration for not adding NAS Fallon (I think?) to Nevada, it would be right on the edge, so when starting there if heading away from the centre of the map you would be almost immediately into undetailed terrain. In practice you want the detailed terrain in the middle getting less detailed as you extend out,, which is evidenced with the way Marinaras is being handled.

I ran across these for the first time on AliExpress tonight. I hadn't seen one before. A little pricey compared to a set of cougars, but with the built in screen it looks quite good. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002029250496.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.816c2e0ePBBGDm

Yeah that is looking good.

I saw someone recently concerned about whether or not the Marinaras would get Andersen AFB right as it has quite a unique runway. After seeing what Ugra have accomplished with the airfields on Syria I certainly believe it is possible within the constraints of the engine. .

ha Thanks for the compliment. Don't get me wrong my collective throw and even the throttle twist run well enough but without a custom PCB and well fitting switches the whole thing is difficult to do well for anything more complex than a huey or civvie jetranger/MD500, I know everyone else thats tried to build a Kiowa collective head felt the same, its a big loom in a small space.... The B10K should give you more than enough throws, in reality you dont think about collective increments in more than 1% and I think Im running about 400 steps on the collective and 250 on the throttle which is more than enough, so Im mostly interested in what your button box looks like and how you handle the transition of weight to smooth control throw on the collective. Not to distract from your thread, One day I will revisit my wiring perhaps when Kiowa launches and I have a reason, but in the meantime Im interested in anyone that offers an affordable solution that means I dont need to... Post some drawings on your proposed solution because there is a lack of affordable helo collectives which will get much much worse once the other sim releases collectives next year.
-
I built my own based on the OH-58, but not overly happy with my input results based on the wiring constraints and available hardware, I feel like the optimal solution was a Collective attached to a game controller. interested in what you are doing, all the same.

Slight update to incorporate FARALLON DE MEDINILLA TRAINING AREA and to figure how to handle the inactive runways along with a first cut of a region map to give a feel for how it will all fit together. My understanding from the available information is that the islands north of Farallon will not be included. This will be starting point for the Wombat Guide unless something else is announced. The Strawman for this guide is complete until I can get at the Mission editor to generate some vectors. @ED, a nice screenshot of Farallon to allow for a target diagram similar to the one in the Wishlist thread would be appreciated as would a nice view of the f10 map sans gridlines so I can finish a region diagram beyond the mock up below. Personally I think you should include Pagan and the other landmasses in the initial release even if the intermediate islands are not detailed in the first release as it will mean A) the land mass doesnt change as the map grows B) Active Volcanoes are cool! Really hoping that this map and the Syria update are not far off.

Nice Video, Such a pity the Littlebird will not get finished. Some screenshots or mock ups of what you are proposing might be useful.
