Yeah I have shadows on Flat at present is it worth dropping them? DCS is suggesting 90FPS is there some other way to monitor without FPSVR?
-
I've just Started with VR over he weekend with a new Rig and a Reverb G2. Followed Big Newy's settings in his post and while the game seems to be happily offering 90FPS I am noticing at Low level on the Caucaus Free flight close objects seem the stutter on the right hand side, or ghost by while things that are either further away or on the left go fine (only seems to happen out the right hand side of the ship, not on the ocean side) Head Tracking is fine, FPS is fine, it just seems to be some kind of issue when theres a lot of object on one side, so Im not quite sure if this is stuttering or ghosting or something else, I'd be interested if anyone else has seen something similar or how to properly describe it.

Depends on the amount of weight on the end of the collective, Initially I just had the Poly Pipe as an extension and it was quite smooth. Once you start to add weight to it, using friction becomes less effective, the Damper did make a nice difference to the solution.

55-60 degrees, theres an early shot in the thread somewhere of both extremes.

AG1080 is here: https://airportguide.com/airport/info/AG1080 My understanding is that only one runway is active and its essentially a Helo base, much like one of the Syrian fields the name of which escapes me that was once a jet base and is now the Helicopter field that everyone complains doesnt have enough fixed wing parking.... I havent spent a lot of time trying to cross reference the info Maestro gave me against the ED screenshots beyond confirming the numbers are the same. Renumbering fields on my Airfield diagrams, ERC and summary slides becomes a massive pain to keep consistent so I got the numbering right several months ago across all of them and have been waiting for Cyprus to drop to do another ERC and diagram release. My GPS coordinates are mostly lifted from Google, Greater circle and Airport Guide so may need to be fine tuned to suit the DCS coordinate systems. As I mentioned you may find the motorway fields and Helo port you mentioned are modelled as Bases, but they would not be airfields by the DCS definition. There is an example of this in Syria where a 5000ft strip at the Al Mezzah Arab horse association is modelled but not actually an airfield.

Markindel's Chinese Carrier Liaoning Naval Escort Task Force
shu77 replied to Hawkeye60's topic in DCS Modding
This is awesome! needs to be in the Chinese assets pack! -
This is what I think is on the list based on wha Maestro and Wags have mentioned, and yes this version of the slide has Cyprus misspelled:

Spotting difficulties after switching to 1440p
shu77 replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Funnily enough I went from 1080p" @ 27" to 1440p @32" and I found that it was lot better to spot things, I think it really depends on the size of your screen. -
Depends on what they expect the 2.7 engine to offer and when it releases, Im hoping we get Cyprus first though I suspect marinaras may come first.

To Be honest the chair was the cheapest I could find anywhere and so far seems quite comfortable and durable, I might lower it a little in time, or potentially mount it to a frame made out of the aluminium. The heaviest part of the whole build is the MDF, I would like to be able to sub it out for the aluminium as well as it would make it a lot easier to move back and forth. I knew as a minimum I wanted an option to have the throttle and collective both useable as my biggest problem to date has been finding something to mount the collective to that is rigid to the chair. I saw another solution someone had built where the throttle was mounted on a plate that had a door style hinge so it flipped out of the way but then when flying rotary the warthog was upside down so you lost the switches and axis, this way I can use both when in the helo, or if I fly warbirds/GA I can mount the Saitek throttle quadrant on the front panel and still grab most of the warthog switches. The little bit of flying Ive done so far with the set up has been great, Im still debating an appropriate board for the button box, potentially slicing up a keyboard or a gamepad. As I mostly fly hornet I would like to get some kind of a rotary solution on there to get the radar and nav on there. All the same it makes a big difference being able to just jump on and fly without having to shuffle peripherals back and forth. Im waiting on my new desktop to turn up at which time it should all be able to stay fairly much ready to go.

Cant wait to get hands on this, its looking epic!

I really like that idea, I am about to take the plunge into VR and was wondering how the current MFD set up would transition

I think an arctic map would be cool once the weather/cloud engine can properly do an arctic storm. That said the effect could likely double with sandstorms in the PG with a different color applied

LOL despite my best efforts no, I have no official or unofficial association with Ugra. Just reporting my experience with the sim as I've seen it.

This is a grand thread to see resurrected, My Grandfathers were both Farmers who ended up drivers and did their best to stay as far south in the pacific as possible which still didnt manage to keep them out of Morseby when the fun started. It would be wonderful to see that part of the world modelled one day.

Yeah I agree I currently have a very enjoyable time at 1440p with a 160ti mobile. There's some stuttering if you dont configure the preload distance to suit your spec, some issues with trees popping in and the odd fog anomally but it is an awesome map. Some of my best times in the last year of flying are taking the AH-6J out NOE from a random costal field and seeing how far I can get before I stop *not* missing the ground.

I was dead keen on one of these originally, but found the default served, so Just out of interest if you use the Hornet Stick with the Warthog what do you use to manage radar elevation?
-
I agree but it would still be nice to get a trap or two in with it

My Understanding is that both NTTR and SOH currently tap the edge of the 8GB minspec for Ram so further additions would push them over. Theres a couple references to this in threads but I have not found a proper reference to how it works and Syria can pack in so much. My hope is that once we get the world engine, its possible to start adding additional resource to the sim in which case the logical flow would be to push out the detail from the current maps. Being able to fly from Syria through to the Gulf would be great even if iraq and Qatar were blank space initially.

Regarding Additional Airports to the Northeast
shu77 replied to Flash_111's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Unfortunately I believe this Map is feature complete. It seems unlikely we will see any further updates until there is some change to the way the world engine works. -
There's some pretty fantastic Naval assets coming into the sim as mods, it would be nice if there was an avenue for those to become 'official' and rolled into the core

Its great you did a video, there is very little benchmark info on DCS on Youtube, its hard to find anyone doing quality performance reviews on DCS to inform a PC buy. A side by side comparison of the two would be helpful with larger FPS indication, I would recommend the videos VRFlightSimGuy has been doing recently comparing his 3090 to his 1080ti on the 'other sim' as a reference.

Nice addition
