I just took down a old nforce 3 system. Sold vid, memory, motherboard, cpu, PSU etc. Nforce 3 is an old motherboard running a 939 socket AGP slot!! cpu was a amd 4000 with fast pc3200. It adds up esp when you want to buy stuff you can trust and under warranty. I just blew $900.00 in new computer hardware that I had to assemble, test, and config. after owning the old setup about 2 years. ASUS maximus formula $250.00 /Q6600 $250.00 / 2 gb of ram $120.00 /Logitech g15 keyboard $80.00 / PSU $100.00 other goodies. If you do you homework and maybe learn how to put computer parts together its a whole lots cheaper to play here.

Whats the latest best of the best controls we need for Lock on and BS. I think my x52 died again. Third stick down the drain. I want something differnet. I mean go look at thier tech forum. Its a total fiasco going on there. Suggestions and opinions? Threads we should review? TIA

Throttle works great, stick sucks. Months ago perhaps since owned a common problem everyone knew about was that the hat 1 would stop working causeing a replug of the cable. Times goes by and my stick flakes out, drivers suck and so I give up. New computer build was around the corner and so insted of risking my stable os I went through some withdrawal about not being able to fly. So now with new computer built I expect the stick to work....nooooooooo it doesnt. Working with my old profile and the stock LOMAC profile I get the same problem. Here are the crazy symptoms. hat 1 and 2 work in the control panel...matter of fact everything does as usual. hat 1 does not work on LOMAC input test screen but hat 2 doesand the sticks buttons.!!!! go into game and start to fly...hat 1 AND 2 are dead. Stick axis works just fine in game and out....I can manuver, whatever. Also all the buttons on the stick work on the in game test screen but DO NOT when flying. What a mess. If someone want this to mod or fix email me Ill sell it cheap. Does not make a bit of sence. It was working fine until I messed with some usb stuff on my old computer build. Everything now is new hardware in the computer and I cant get this stick to work. This is after ripping out a previous saitek driver install and starting over. Im sick of Saiteks crap and want to fly again. Lock on has never looked so good on the new computer!

4 years is a long time. If everything changed tommrow and the game engine required 25%-40% more computer horse power, requireing a DC cpu to run it. Had alot better graphics, every bug you could think of fixed. Had new declassified planes to fly maybe 2 more planes.....therefor bringing up the total cost to play games from ED at around $1500- $2000 in computer hardware and controls etc etc. Im thinking average here. If all that happened how many more people can we count on to just dive into Flight Sims? I hope alot personally, I know alot of people think LOMAC is all sexy and cool but present them the cost of learning and the gear needed to play then its really difficult to keep some peoples attention.

Exactley. Im sure their are waves of people who will for the first time get into a chopper sim with BS. Even though they have wanted to for years. While these people may be chopper heads they will probley start buying FC too.

Well there is that thing about windows or IE not liking the security certificate of LOMAC's website and I suppose this one too. I had freaking nightmare of a time trying to login to this forum. After I emailed the webmaster and someone confirmed the password was same as the LOMAC site I could log in. This happened to me along time ago with the LOMAC site. I could not log in several times and then all of the sudden....boom im logged in. I also sent a note to the webmaster to double check things. I triple checked, was not drinking either....very strange. I got sick of keeping a word document updated with all my usernames and passwords for various websites and things. So when I was checking out a PC mag, I noticed they were doing a review of must need programs on your computer. Thats when I tried Roboform. There are others out there, So far been using for about a year. I wont go back to the old way, I just have way too much power to use lol.

My opinion is that technology is allowing ED to move forward to bigger and better things. Time and technology has allowed this. We as human beings cannot stop rules of evolution and change. I might aggree with you but I dont think we should feel disapointed about any of this. I am not disapointed at all. SOrry, I have however been disapointed with the world in general all of my life. I dont think a flight sim on the cuttiing edge of time and technology deserves to be so beat up personally.

No reply from the web master so here goes. SOS HELP ME !!! I have reg. at the DCS website and have an account. I can log in and view my profile. My password is not the same as this forums password. I then try and log into the forum with my website profile info and cannot. I then ask the system to email me my password and the system says it cannot regonize my email. It is the same email reg with the site!!! I can log in with it and view my profile!! Can someone please contact me and get this fixed. Thanks

I agree with everybody else, get a better cpu, I have a 3700 laying around for sale. Since installing the AMD 4000 I am for the most part HAPPY with how lock on runs for me on my rig in the sig. Some people here droped SLI cause for lock on it wasnt worth it or making a diff. Yeah 2gm of memory would be ok .....but I think my raid 0 helps here. Also I have never seen Lock on cause my system to go over 800mb pysical ram being used during game play. so Im still not a huge fan of 2 gb ram with lock on esp since I got a great video card and on a raid 0 . I get to build a q6600 2 gb ram system for the new year.

What joystick are you using,, x52? sietek software?

Are you using a chipset other than Nforce Nvidia? Your the first I have heard takiing this short cut with success. Your sure boths cores are actually working?

The problem is windows has to reset itself up for running 2 cores. Dual cores is a new thing for winodws. Sorry I cant explain it to you any better than that. The OS will be corrupt if it detects a new dual core. The OS will redetect everything and your OS will be screwed beyond repair. Remember we are talking Windoes here! This is OLD news but not many know about it unless your frequent computer related forums like i do.

Yeah maybe no MB replacement but THINK ABOUT OS REPLACEMENT. I know for a fact the the AMD DC upgrade REQUIRES A NEW OS INSTALL. Not sure about other but it is an OS thing with windows so you will want to look out for that. For example if your running a 4000 AMD you cant just drop in a Dual core AMD CPU and call it a day. Windows will refind everything and your OS will be screwed.

Support ED and just buy Black Shark if you want it or not.

Save yourself alot of grief Learn about what raid is on computer forums like PCper.com or others. I have been using raid 0 for a couple years now and might always run raid. Two main raid configs are done with TWO IDENTICAL HARDDRIVES. There is the software raid or FAKE RAID you can setup on one disk but with drives cheap as they are its not worth doing. If you want the fastest performance you need 2 IDENTICAL drives plus One other drive to run as a place for backups and important files you cant afford to lose. RAID 1 mirrors your two drives so is one fails you always have another drive with everything intact. Generally business servers run this way. RAID 0 is for gamers or people who need to move alot of files around. If something happens to one of the drives you LOSE ALL DATA. No way to recover it either. The raid drives are striped and files are slpit in two and work together. Think of RAID 0 as a duel core processor!! the world of raid is easy, just need to plan out how you are going to handle your files and how you are going to backup what is important to you. Western Digital created the RAID EDITION Drives that are made better than regular drives and built for raid configs ofcourse. Mine have been awsome and I have a very sweet running ol nforce 3 system, Im going to hate tearing her down this winter for a Quad core 6600 MSI PN9 650i platinum upgrade. Oh and remember kids, dont drop a dual core as an upgrade and think that all you have to do. You have to have the right bios and YOU WILL HAVE TO format your drives and reload everything from scratch. Make sure the dual core is working first. TOld a friend this and he forgot. LOL

Yeah and I hope everyone knows that. I hope everyone knows UBI almost killed off Lock ON all together!! I know they wont do it, but if ED wont post an official explanation of what happened I guess its up to us to remind everyone about what a bad publisher UBI inc. really is :( With the way things have been going in PC gaming lately I would think above all its still necessary. I mean would you buy a brand new UBI game off the shelf? lol

In theory yes in real life no and some games will not work. Im looking for real life Lock on experience too with the new DX10 cards. Anyone care to lay down the low down on them?
