Hold modes in Apache are an autopilot in technical sense of the word. System moves controls on its own to maintain set parameters. That can be considered lower autopilot modes. Higher autopilot modes are aircraft capturing set parameter/s by itself, not just maintaining it (eg. following flight plan). Apache doesn't have this. Might be easier to understand if you compare it to car cruise control. Apache has cruise control and lane keeping. You need to keep an eye on it and change as needed. Higher modes would be if you entered destination and your car would get you there all by itself (Tesla cars for example). In theory, you don't even have to be in the car for all it cares.

What do you mean by this?

Actually, we are both wrong. S-5/ATGM combo will make S-5 not working, not inboard ATGM stations. Most likely received damage to the wiring (wing still present) that prevented those weapons to fire. Did you try firing rockets at all? -

Yeah, but if they fired 4 and OP says left rack fired no problem, so 5-6 fired too. I assume S-5 isn't a problem. -

Shouldn't you be able to fire wingtip stations? OP says left rack fires normal -

Are you flying multicrew or with AI in pilot seat? Can you post a track?

You need to have microswitches activated (which is done by pilot's feet on pedals, but we can discuss this outside of this thread to not spam it). I can ask, but not sure how much tactical data they will be willing to give (and this won't be done any time soon, this is long-ish term project, they won't be happy to talk to some guy off the street)

Why? Because of heading hold?

I have spoken to Hind pilot, answer is yes You need to be pro-active, not reactive. There is a tinny bit of shudder coming down through ETL, but not as much as with Hip, so you need to pay attention to airspeed and start adding collective before you start sinking.

I would say it's standoff capabilities. While all those helicopters can do both roles, 28/64 is really meant to keep back, while 24 is quite fine at slugging it out with the enemy.

I'll try and get hold of some of Serbian Hind pilots this year. Anything in particular you guys would like to know?

already reported pulling cyclic aft or pushing forward causes roll

They also didn't do anything to holding modes when those got broken. -
While I agree with you on how much time it takes to actually be proficient, nothing was done to FM/AP when holding modes got broken (where you could not activate it unless you were trimmed out). Maybe there was no intentional work done on FM, but considering how messed up DCS code is, there is no telling if doing something else affects FM.

Exactly, but that can't be done now. Careful now, there is only one appropriate realism level and that is the one that those that are not gamers like.

You don't click on the switch itself, but on a position where you want it to go.

I don't really care about S-5s, but if you don't like them, just don't use them. Let other people have fun.

Heck, just mixing unit is more complex than the whole Apache.

Did you check your bindings?
