theGozr Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) @rcjonessnp175 If you want to keep it that way just back up the actual EDM files.. also I doubt you will want to leave it that way. We shouldn't lower Terrain and visibility to a bare minimum or any other settings on that matter to fly one aircraft. I will not fly an aircraft with terrain at Low or visibility at low. terrain should remain the same to enjoy with all the other smooth aircraft .. it is the new aircraft that need to be adjusted. We want to enjoy the aircraft today not in 5 years like previous Lockon 1.. I want to fly in formation with other MiG's without feeling sluggish Basic 101. :) Explain to the people that to be able to barely flight an aircraft they need to Overclock their 4/6/8/10/12/16 cores cpu to 5GHZ and ultra high GPU to fly one aircraft on a desert environment.. That is tough to do on sales ;) Quick update: We are making significant progress on improving performance. Hang in there! Great news !!! Thanks for this great work. JG-1_Vogel Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Thank you for the update Cobra. Great to hear the team are so quick to patch things up for us :). I have to admit I'm really struggling at the moment, and I expect nothing less tbh as my rig is so old but I do seem to get at least 15-20fps more in other aircraft. At present I'm getting about 12-15fps on the ground and no more than 24fps in the air so any improvement would be very much appreciated!

gonvise Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I could actually use someone with an even -more- low end rig for some quick testing. Up for it? F5 this forum all afternoon, waiting good news ;-)... I have two rigs, one of them low end, running other modules 30fps approx. in the air. Mig -21 10-15 approx. in the air. If you need some help, here I am ;-)

Airway Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) See my spec in the signature. 3.2 Ghz Quadcore AMD, 8 GB RAM and an GTX460 SE with 1 GB VRAM. Even with tweaked system and lower DSC settings the 21 stutters while all other modules run smooth. Edited September 19, 2014 by Airway
Nereid Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Quick update: We are making significant progress on improving performance. Hang in there! :) Please! Don't reduce the details of this bird. The Mig is just beautiful at the moment. :) Well, in real and for my personal taste the Mig-21 is one of the ugliest aircrafts out there. ;) But LN has done a real great job with the Mig-21 in DCS. It would be a shame if we lose something... JG-1_Vogel Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 One thing that stuck out to me was how insanely detailed LN's pilot model is for the MiG-21. It's funny when you hit eject on the F2 view you have this awesome looking pilot then the shock of ejection mutates him into the standard low poly pilot in the other ED modules.

Dejjvid Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 When LN feels like the improvement is good enough for a hotfix, I'm pretty sure they'll do whatever they can to let ED push it out. It won't affect other modules or DCSW, so no need to test it for two weeks. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
Kayos Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I just downloaded the AMD 14.7 Beta Drivers and they gave me 15 + fps. Worth a try for those having problems. I went from 15-22fps to 35-45fps. Still could be better but I can wait until LN has a patch. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
shagrat Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Seems with the drivers update AMD is no on par with Nvidia performance wise. From what I remember AMD (former ATI) was bad at drivers programming and updating since the early nineties. Let's wait now what LN's patch will do... in addition, but it seems again AMD is not worth the "theoretical benchmark edge" and then few bucks you save. Had the usual Hercules, then S3, my first and last ATI and moved to Matrox/Glide combo, and Nvidia and never looked back! ;-) Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

Tango Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 It's not the drivers - it's the model that is causing low performance. By removing the external model I get 45-50 FPS easily in the cockpit, and that only increases after takeoff. With the external model I get 20-25 FPS on the ground, depending on where I start. Best regards, Tango.
rcjonessnp175 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Good Job LN! But seems to me theirs going to be allot of upset people when the graphic fidelity is ramped up in DCS 2.0 and people will no longer get great frames on their old tech computers. Again please dont fully reduce your wonderful work to the "other" dcs modules standards, as you have set the new standard that all should follow. This bird looks stellar and honestly performance is fine on mine and many others Rigs. If you can achieve fps glorry without sacrificing your amazing detail that will be epic and hope that happens. Also hope the 3d hud implementation is going well. As you could be a very good example for the other parties to follow!:) Edited September 20, 2014 by rcjonessnp175 I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. stavka Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Hi, only 1-5 fps??? I have a constant 20 to 30 with high settings and my rig is: i7 920, ATI 6970 2GB, 6GB RAM The only hit on fps is when at the same time i see others MiG-21's in front of me, the fps in an airport with others MiG's taxing goes to 9 but never less than that. Thanks LN for all your excellent support Edited September 20, 2014 by stavka
ObvilionLost Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Tried new beta drivers from AMD 14.7, now getting constant 15 FPS in cockpit, 20 exterior. hopefully fix from Leatherneck will further improve FPS. ObvilionLost Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 and the a10c has 2 mfd displays .. A-10C cockpit triangle count ~291,000 while Mig-21 ~349,000. Should not affect FPS that much.
