Hi guys,

 

I'm tying to make an Uboat model unit for DCSW.

 

I must say I'm not good with UVMapping in Max.

 

Does someone knows how to make them destructible ?

I bet some .lua lines must be insert.

The .lua of the object as been taken and edited from another mod for insert purpose. (see attachment)

If you want help in the UV side I can help.. Looking good tho..

 

With the destructable side you need to make the damage model and set them to args.

 

look in the ticonderoga.lua file > DCS World\Scripts\Database\navy\blue < for an idea cos it has damage in the lua file.

 

p.s. you beat me to it.

if I remember, my uboat uses actually the .lua file of your "Enforcer" boat ! Many thanks for this !

This was extremly helpfull to insert my model in DCS !

 

As far as I know, the native DCS submarine has no specific EDM for collision, it only burns after hit, and then, sink. It is exactly (in a first time) what I want to get for my Uboat.

I've got more skills in creating textures than UVMap 3D model ('specialy in Max, fine in Maya & Rhino but UVMaps doesn't seem to be well exported to Max)

 

May be we could work together for our mods ?

Nope, no collision model added (as far as I don't know how to do this)

I've noticed something, If I replace the kilo.edm with my uboat.edm, it is destructible and burns a few moment after hit ! So, I guess, there is something to do with .lua lines ? Not with the 3D mesh ?

 

looks more like a American gato class boat to me than a german uboat.

 

nice though.

 

3D mesh is just a test to insert it in DCSW, if we succeed in making it destructible, 3D mesh & texture will be entirely reworked.

Hi guys,

 

as I am still working on this U-Boat and learning how to export some models & textures to DCS,

 

I am not a 3DS artist, I only worked in the past on Maya & Rhino,

 

I managed to export well 3d mesh & UVMaps from Maya to Max, this is a "test 3d model",

 

Does someone knows why do I get those strange glossy effects on my model ?

 

I bet there is something to tweak in the "material editor" ?

Still working on this ship, the hull has been reworked with some reference photos, still not 100% accurate.

 

It needs some more work on the top (don't know how to name it in english, we call it "Kiosque" in french ;) )

Quick update,

 

I've reworked the entire shape, it looks now more like an accurate "U-Boat Type VII", need to improve textures again and to add an AAA gun on the rear ;)

It should be released soon, I'm testing it "in-game", I must admit it is an excellent AAA unit :D

 

I will may be remove the MG-42, it is almost impossible to bomb it with the Mustang without been shot down.
