@Takavar - the Mirage 2000C has 80's era western avionics, ASM(advanced systems modeling)clickpit, it's a fighter, and in that regard it's the DCS module most similar to the F-14.

But overall I think Leatherneck's MiG-21 and ED's A-10C are the jet modules in DCS that give you the most satisfaction when you learn to fly them.

@emg

Thanks!

I have heared A-10 is hard to fly. Is FC3 version of it simplified? I need to get acquainted with DCS in the beginning before I start flying detailed modules.

Best,

Takavar

no its not hard to fly, everyone wants to make their weapon as easy to use as possible. there are just more systems you are in charge of but any monkey can learn them.

what are you so scared of? crashing? you think you're going get courtmartialed if you mess up a few times?

sure you can fly the simple fc3 a-10 but after that you still wouldn't have learned any of the a-10c systems that need learning. your reasoning makes no sense to me.

It makes perfect sense to me =P.

He wants to get a hang of DCS before he jumps into the more complicated Modules / Aircraft.

Just as new pilots arent just thrown into a 747 and told to figure it out.

But rather start with smaller aircraft to get flying time / experience before moving to larger more advanced aircraft.

I too started with the FC-3 aircraft and when i felt comfortable with them i bought some of more more advanced modules.

Its better then starting by buying the A-10C and then give up on DCS because you think the A-10C is too complicated.

The A-10C is ALOT more to handle then any of the FC-3 and as such i recommend starting with the easier aircraft (FC-3 Level airplanes)

and then when you feel comfortable with DCS and know that you like the game you can move on.

Ofc if someone is already a sim-head with long experience with similar games like Falcon 4 BMS then the A-10C is not as much of a problem.

But for someone new it can be daunting.

And also FC-3 is a good starting point as you get a number of aircraft with different roles etc.

That's reasonable. I would also say that startup, radar, EW and weapon usage in the M2000C is just a little more complex than in an FC3 plane, and it's easy to fly and land since it's FBW.

And for some people (like me) it's easier to remember the location of the switches in the M2k cockpit, than it is to remember a keybind for everything.

You got me! I have watched couple of videos on youtube and figured out people spend 10 minutes to get A-10 in the air while they knew the systems and right sequence!

It's because they perform all the different checks as you would in real life. But you can easily skip them and start the aircraft in just five minutes.

A lot of missions already have the A-10C up and running on the runway or ramp :) And if they don't it's very easy to change in the editor.

The A-10C is probably the easiest plane to fly in DCS, you put the throttle to max and leave it there. The only way to crash is if you forget to turn your autopilot on while you have your head down to press switches ;)

I would caution them against that given how spectacularly the "I want to Believe" post by rudel blew up in their faces.
