With MP crews being something in the future I'm sure this will be a thing.

Also, if I'm remembering correctly that's footage from an F-16D during training. There's another one very similar where the nugget pilot over indulged the night before at "Taco Tuesday" and has an accident. Funny stuff :D

There's a video going around (well..an audio recording set to generic footage of Phantoms) of a F-4 driver that had an uncommanded DUMPEX of his own and filled his suit with his previous meal.

So it literally was a poopy-suit.

1 minute of flight, what was the distance between the target and the launch moment?

Mhm, max speed of the Phoenix is 5267km/h, about 1463 m/s, so 1463x60= 87,78km :smilewink:

Take the distance value with a grain of salt: to make an exact calcolus, I should have considered the time passed to accelerate and reach the max speed from the starting speed of 0km/h(but you must take in account even the speed of the aircraft that is launching the missile, wind speed and direction, etc...)

Can someone calculate the approximate distance from witch the first Phoenix was fired ??? At 07:00:15 the first missile was fired and hit it's target at 07:01:18. Total flight time 01 min and 03 sec :smartass:. My guess is that it was fired somewhere between 15000 to 20000 feet. :D

Rule of thumb is 1nm/2 sec of flight time for a head-on intercept...that gives you ~31nm.

If you were to assume higher average speed, ie. about M3, you'd get ~42nm.

This assumes a launch altitude of ~33000' and co-speed aircraft at Mach 1.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

Cobra, I am going to be pretty disappointed in the Tomcat if the RIO doesn't sound like this during a dogfight!

Sounds like Sam Kennison is the RIO hahaha

Funny to read old posts from 2015. Gives a new perspective on the amount of work. This was "almost" done 2 years ago.

Actually it was only announced two years ago. 2/10 Troll attempt. Try again

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

To be exact they said they anticipated it being in Beta by the end of 2015 but cautioned it was subject to significant change.

So in light of that..it's more of a 4.5/10 troll attempt.

IIRC that was "internal beta."

2.3/10 troll attempt.
