Sweep Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Also, if I'm remembering correctly that's footage from an F-16D during training. T-38! Lord of Salt

RaceFuel85 Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 With MP crews being something in the future I'm sure this will be a thing. Also, if I'm remembering correctly that's footage from an F-16D during training. There's another one very similar where the nugget pilot over indulged the night before at "Taco Tuesday" and has an accident. Funny stuff :D There's a video going around (well..an audio recording set to generic footage of Phantoms) of a F-4 driver that had an uncommanded DUMPEX of his own and filled his suit with his previous meal. So it literally was a poopy-suit.

Automan Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 1 minute of flight, what was the distance between the target and the launch moment? Mhm, max speed of the Phoenix is 5267km/h, about 1463 m/s, so 1463x60= 87,78km :smilewink: ACER Predator Orion 9000: W10H | Intel i9-7900X OC@4.5Ghz | 8x16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport | Sapphire GTX1080TI | Intel 900P 480GB | Intel 600P 256GB | HP EX950 1TB | Seagate Firecuda 2TB ACER Predator XB281HK: 28" TN G-SYNC 4K@60hz ThrustMaster Warthog Hotas, TPR, MFD Cougar Pack, HP Reverb Pro
Vitormouraa Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Lol I was lazy to do the math, thanks. One minute of flight to intercept a target, flying at that speed is quite impressive! :) SplashOneGaming Discord https://splashonegaming.com
Automan Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Take the distance value with a grain of salt: to make an exact calcolus, I should have considered the time passed to accelerate and reach the max speed from the starting speed of 0km/h(but you must take in account even the speed of the aircraft that is launching the missile, wind speed and direction, etc...) 1 ACER Predator Orion 9000: W10H | Intel i9-7900X OC@4.5Ghz | 8x16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport | Sapphire GTX1080TI | Intel 900P 480GB | Intel 600P 256GB | HP EX950 1TB | Seagate Firecuda 2TB ACER Predator XB281HK: 28" TN G-SYNC 4K@60hz ThrustMaster Warthog Hotas, TPR, MFD Cougar Pack, HP Reverb Pro

GrmlZ Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Cobra, I am going to be pretty disappointed in the Tomcat if the RIO doesn't sound like this during a dogfight! Maniacal laugh manditory... :megalol: That sounds surprisingly similar to when my buddys and I play DCS. :) https://www.youtube.com/user/GrmlZGaming

dekiplav Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Some Phoenix test on a poor zombie...:megalol: Can someone calculate the approximate distance from witch the first Phoenix was fired ??? At 07:00:15 the first missile was fired and hit it's target at 07:01:18. Total flight time 01 min and 03 sec :smartass:. My guess is that it was fired somewhere between 15000 to 20000 feet. :D
GGTharos Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Rule of thumb is 1nm/2 sec of flight time for a head-on intercept...that gives you ~31nm. If you were to assume higher average speed, ie. about M3, you'd get ~42nm. This assumes a launch altitude of ~33000' and co-speed aircraft at Mach 1. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

RaceFuel85 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Actually it was only announced two years ago. 2/10 Troll attempt. Try again  To be exact they said they anticipated it being in Beta by the end of 2015 but cautioned it was subject to significant change. So in light of that..it's more of a 4.5/10 troll attempt. 1
