BravoYankee4 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 No need to be ashamed if memory fails you. Happens to me every day as well :music_whistling: I know it is on the left side in the simulator I have flown, and this picture confirms it.
SPIKEN Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Yeah, BY4, That is the one. So left side it is. A good picture, which makes memories come alive. Thanks!!

Krieg Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 That's indeed Vigginside! SPIKEN, you really shouldn't feel bad. It would be really cool if you would share with some of your anecdotes, memories and general know how of the aircraft.
JaNk0 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Speaking of Viggen. There is a company here in Sweden, called NovelAir, that have a full scale cockpit Viggen simulator. With FSX of course. Here is one of many videos from their channel. and a picture of the cockpit [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frisco1522 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Since we now know we are going to get a MiG-28 (F-5), what if we got a Zero to complete the list of F-14 cinema nemeses. Yes I know they are really T-6 Texans, but still. Would be awesome, not only for the F-14, but for the P-51 and P-40. (And the possible F4U) Frisco1522

Seen right of the Höjd (altitude) gauge, underneath its neighbouring gauge. Slightly below center. They're associated with some pretty hefty mechanical clunks, and seem to correspond to throttle movement. Edited November 7, 2015 by scaflight

IIRC those are the 3 afterburner stages (the clunk sound is the throttle clipping between each stage). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Krieg Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 They are indicator lights for the afterburner (zone 1, 2 and 3). Shown at about 3:33 in this video. There are quite a few Viggen simulators on different museums and such in Sweden. I hope they think about incorporating DCS:Viggen instead of FSX if Viggen indeed becomes a reality. 1

How many of them area there? Because... if the simulators are all hooked up to computers, running FSX, then you could conceivably replace FSX with DCS, and connect the computer to the internet. And if you got other Viggen pilots to go to the other simulators, you could all fly together in multiplayer! :shocking: That would be amazeballs
Brisse Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Slightly off topic perhaps, but I think some might find this interesting. In BMS 4.33, as some of you might have noticed there is a new flyable Viggen. To create the flight model they used used recently declassified data from krigsarkivet (war archives). 170 pages of data on the flight characteristics of the Viggen. They also had a few real life ex Viggen pilots try it out and give feedback on the flight model. They even got to spend some time in a military Viggen simulator at F21 in Luleå and compared the flight model to that :) I wonder if Leatherneck is going through the same process as we speak?
RoflSeal Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Anybody else think that the 2 aircraft are both Viggens?
Brisse Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Anybody else think that the 2 aircraft are both Viggens? NO!!! One of them is a WWII aircraft. That is a fact, not speculation.

It will not be long between announcement <--> release, that is correct. :D
scaflight Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Wouldn't cater to "all tastes" if we received two jets in addition to the F-14, now would it ;) A WWII-era plane has been so heavily hinted towards that it's a little beyond reasonable now to think otherwise. Unfortunately there's no 'clue compilation' thread or any way to promote those posts that do a good job of dispelling confusion and doubt. So we're forced to revisit old questions and subjects within the thread constantly. Informing the masses is a sisyphean task!
Gargoil Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I thought I read that in the september update from cobra, but I went back and checked and I can't find it  Pretty sure one of them is a WWII bird though. Cobra said in the september mini-update that both are advanced aicraft As mentioned in a previous update, both of these aircraft (just like the F-14) have required us to develop new in-house technologies and components.
-Rudel- Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 And I said the "advancement" is the progress towards our qualifications of readiness for announcements. :D https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
Brisse Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Cobra said in the september mini-update that both are advanced aicraft Yes, but if you scroll up a few posts on this page, you will see he admits to it being a typo.
TomCatMucDe Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Just one, was a typo. EDIT: Also 'more advanced' is perhaps being a bit excessive. Bigger/more complex than some of the Cat's systems- sure. But the Viggen isn't bigger than the TomCat. I'm confused.

And I said the "advancement" is the progress towards our qualifications of readiness for announcements. :D Thank you for the clarification. One question that keeps running across my mind...will either of the upcoming "modern-ish" theaters present an opportunity for realistic missions in the MiG-21 as well? Best, Nick
