Its not a front gear I can tell you for sure based on the suspension alignment,

Not to mention the mesh name is gear L2 for the upper half.

Because of this:

They posted it on fb some time ago.

Almost 100% sure that is a Corsair cockpit on the left, and I think others have mentioned that as well. Seems Aleutian islands map would make sense, cold and ocean. Plus there was fighting up that way during WW2. I forget when the Aleutian campaign ended but it started same time as Midway.

The only allied fighter aircraft that were in the aleutians during the japanese invasion were the P39 and P40 (along with PBYs, B17s, B24s and B26s). Later there were some P-38s if I recall correctly.

However, the air-battles with the Japanese were limited essentially to a very small early-war period during the Dutch Harbor attack (A6M2s, D3As and B5Ns). Late war air conflicts were rare.

Also, the aleutians theater is vast. If they were to model a small map, it should be the area around Dutch harbor during the invasion, which included only 1 airbase some 80kms to the south-west and a sea-plane base at Dutch. Japanese carriers would be essential for this, as the japanese did not have any airports.

The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good bowel movement. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life to experience all three at the same time.

I couldn't help but notice the F6F Hellcat and the F-4 Phantom in the background on their website. Is it possible that they are the two being done, or would that be too obvious? :P

I didn't even notice the P-38 there lol. I was talking about when you click the DCS MiG-21 tab on their site.

Edit: As Exile has linked.

I also can't help but notice that the F-4 seems to have the most detail out of any of those background images... :music_whistling: That being said, they all look quite detailed. Especially the nose of that lightning!

Cobra used to work with Milviz - that might be the connection.

It might be that the background aircraft represents their modules opponents? Or otherwise associated, but not the module itself?

Wonder how long we have to wait to find out?

Lot of "?" marks in this post...

I bet the gear they showed us is from the P38...great another WW2 bird in a Sim where you cant see your enemy visualy.....

Stick with the jets! IL2 is for WW2

Interesting point of view HeTzeR32. Why do you think DCS World should only be for jets when so far we have 3 helicopters & 4 WW2 prop airframes as well as 14 jets? That is only a ratio of 2:1, so really, I'd suggest DCS World has a foot in several camps. It could quite easily be argued that it is the only truly realistic attempt at modelling WW2 airframes, and IL2 certainly doesn't match it.

I'm sure you prefer jets, and I am also sure Leatherneck will take no notice of your suggestion, so why bother making pointless comments simply because you want to see more jet aircraft? You will see more, but unfortunately for you, you'll also see more props and helicopters.

I do like your suggestion that it may be a P-38 however.

I agree with him. i see no point in doing realistic missions in the ww2 planes in this game before the spotting gets better.

That is not to say i wouldn't mind having more ww2 aircraft, just that i wouldn't enjoy them in multiplayer that much.

And i do not like the "we need more ww2 aircraft because we already have x amounts of jets and/or helicopters" (or the other way around). Let's just wait and see what comes. it's a fact that making a ww2 plane is in total a lot/a bit easier than making jet's, so in the future there might be more ww2 planes than modern fighters for ya. :pilotfly:

(personally i'd like it to stay modern because i already have Il-2 and have played it to death when i was younger. But i see how people will totally disagree with me  )

It would be awesome to have the F-4, and I would be excited to find out that's what they are doing, however I would say since they are making the F-14 it wouldn't really make sense to do the F-4 just cause the 14 is its direct predecessor. What would be sick, is if they were to update the F-4s AI model, to improve game play with the mig-21, I could see them doing something like that first, and then down the road doing the full fidelity model. Either way these guys are awesome and do amazing work, I'd look forward to anything they make.

Don't we already have an AI F-4, it is in one of the quick missions and already looks fairly detailed. Also, lets not forget that one of the hints is that the next plane would have a HUD and would help in the development of the Tomcat. With that information, the 21 and the picture someone found the F-4 seems likely.

Yeah that's good point, I just mean the F-14 and F-4 in RL had very similar Missions, So I guess I should say I would be a lil surprised if it was next but not that they would make it eventually.

But I think I remember on one of the interviews with cobra he said that they were considering the F-4 or that it was being discussed or something I'm not 100 percent sure. But since its Milviz's model they have on the site and he worked for them, I think that they definitely have there sights on it.

If it were me though I would want to shoot for the F-5 ( I mean Mig 28 :D ) I think that would complement both the 21 as a lightweight fighter and 14 as being in the same era ish. But if it is the F-4 I'll jump for joy cause I love that machine. :holiday:
