But if we shouldn't assume anything then it might not be a safe assumption to assume that it is safe to assume anything. :P

Please be careful with comments like this, you have no idea what you are looking at in relation to DCS 2.0. Also:

1.10 Product feedback and constructive criticism is encouraged when provided in a mature and courteous manner. However, feedback that is abusive, insulting or condescending is not welcome. Additionally, to bring up a particular issue repeatedly after it has already been acknowledged will be considered "trolling" - in such cases a warning will be issued to the author and the post will be removed.

DX9C is prolly a shader handicap, lol.

That being said, I suggest you hold judgement until DCS2 is out of Beta.

And not base judgements off screenshots from Alternate projects involving earlier or alternate builds of an Image Renderer.

Does this have anything to do with DCS 2? I ask because they say stuff about "Building airbases".

I dunno, But I would take a week off of work just to explore that software...

So them screens are not from dcs 2.0? The reason i say this is because the explosion effect looks the same to me as its always been.

We dont know what the screens are from, we know that ED are redoing many of the effects, we dont know how far along they are with the updating of effects in 2.0, but there are many many effects.

Well I do believe we have a slight preview of improved effects, for example look at new cbu 105 explosions and explosions in general have improved.

Screens look like dcs 2.0 maps in their map creation utility or actual dcs 2.0. I imagine they have access and help in development of dcs 2.0 since they are the makers of the map tools and assets correct?

Strange.

If Smartgraf is working in close cooperation with Eagle Dynamics, as they say in his webpage, ED will know the source of this pics.

I'd bet they do, it is possible that ED will not publicly comment on them for a variety of reasons. Or maybe they will, especially if pertains to features in the consumer DCS 2. I personally do not see anything strange about it. I agree it is fun to see Edge mentioned and speculate what actually might make it us, especially since so little is available about dcsw2

Looks like Strait of Hormuz to me...

combat-4-1920.jpg

Aye, a redefined IR filter! Finally.

I like the following: "Collisions with all objects including wires and vegetation;

Information about airfield taxiways for simulation modules;

Possibility of using roadway networks for route searching."

They are based at Minsk

There presentation:

"EDGE is a modern software system designed to visualize and create highly detailed large scale 3D scenes. It is a joint development of Eagle Dynamics and its affiliated company, Smartgraf."'

So, would EDGE be co-developped by ED and Smartgraf. And now the latter creates terrains (for ED-consumers? / Pro market? Maybe both)

Anyway. I liked what I've seen

anybody notice how smartgraf and belsimtek have the same diamond looking stylized letting on their bannerheads at the respective websites.

Yeah, they probably hired the same designer.

Wait ... same designer?? Omg DCS 3.0 confirmed!!

...? ;o)

was actually wondering if smartgraf is the "professional" side to belsimtek, as in the partner to Eagle Dynamics. Since smartgraf is claiming partnership to ED. The only thing I find weird with the smartgraf site is that they call their EDGE the "Enhanced Dynamic Graphic Engine". Combined with the kickstarter vid by luthier where he stated that EDGE was in its 3rd or 4th revision. Am wondering is Luthier was talking about this other EDGE.

Now i'm a bit worried that my GTX 980/4770k won't hit 60 fps at 1080p in DCSW 2.0, :(.

I wouldn't, if that's the case buy second card. Looks like this engine is the heat with sli

so many theories, so little time.

Common in the software world, often groups of programmers will form a smaller company under their parent company and, yada yada yada...blah blah blah etc etc etc

Again, details and specs posted on that site have.little to do with DCSW2.0

If it wasnt posted by Wags in the OP, or by and ED Team Member in an Update, or In a Newsletter, then its simply a related subject with pretty screenshots and videos, just as it was when all the ConcordXIII videos of Corsica, Afghanistan, Ft. Rucker and Corsica were before.

Why? If they guarantee 60fps with i5 and dual 980s running x12 projector screens at 1080p, i'm sure your x1 980 and i7 will do well running a monitor, even at 2k or 4k. Of course smartgraph system requirements may bear no resemblance to DCS world 2, either way it's no cause for concern.

I'm not OK with you on that one. You're right saying there is nothing official but on there website, we can find indications:

- They are partner with ED and they probably helped with the EDGE coding/testing/design, (...It is a joint development of Eagle Dynamics and its affiliated company, Smartgraf. )

- They are probably concerned with the Strait of Hormuz map creation, that one that will be sold by ED.

(Image on their site and Google map comparision

There are plenty references to an ED/SmartGraf partnership.

I'm sure they are also in relation with professional (non game consumer) contractors (sounds logic economicaly speaking) for projects we will never see run on our PC's.

In conclusion, it's a bit more than yada yada. I feel we could believe the specs estimations since they are running EDGE. BUT... It doesn't give any clue about the DCS2.0 release time.

EDIT: After an IP lookup, there IP address (87.98.144.10) is located at Paris/France, OVH Provider, the same host/provider than for the ED website (IP 87.98.182.202).

EDIT2: What confuses me a bit is when I look after the phone number of the company on the web, I find that... Don't know what to think.
