So, I was just browsing Kickstarter again and while doing so I stumbled upon this KS project:

Now, this Kickstarter is always one of the kind that I am very cautious about, as it doesn't show of any of the - possibly supposed - work that has been done for the project.

Now, my questions would be, can this be legit (I am of the opinion it is not, but I may be mistaken) and has anyone ever heard of this Chris Donovan offering this Kickstarter? Does he have the skills, machines, access to the hardware and capabilities to make this happen?

I wouldn't touch that one. No useful information presented, not even a 3d model from a supposed '3d cockpit designer'.

Would need to see some prototypes plus it seems the $199 pledge may be implying the minimum market price for the individual sticks AFTER public release. I think I'll watch this one and see where it goes.

Intel i5-4690K Devil's Canyon, GForce TitanX, ASUS Z-97A MB, 16GB GDDR3 GSkill mem, Samsung SSD X3,Track IR, TM Warthog, MFG Crosswind pedals, Acer XB280HK monitor,GAMETRIX KW-908 JETSEAT

His facebook page is a dead link! Not instilling any confidence!

Not a really good way to start a kickstarter... Video clip of machining will come online shortly...

I would have all this stuff online as soon as the kickstarter starts to entice people enough to make it to the deadline.

Serious serious doubts about this one.

Words are cheap for a kickstarter business, but can be a very expensive mistake for a consumer.

I'd sit and watch this one. If he can't make any prototypes or even basic images before taking your money, then he clearly doesn't have any capital and is relying on the cash up front. Dangerous thing to invest in.

Although I would really love to get MiG-29 stick, I don't feel confident about this one because, as already mentioned, there is zero work shown to be done for it so far, everything is just words and I don't see single "...we have done / completed / started..." in there. Everything is "planned", even the machines are not available to them (as they say they want to use the money from this Kickstarter for their purchase).

So I can't back this up. I think they should invest their money first (by the machines etc) and make it happen (as prototype) and show people that it actually works and exists... then I would feel confident to give them a chance and donate.

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

If Hegykc were to start a kickstarter - I would definitely back it.

This is a perfect example of what I will not do :)

First, back a few projects so people know you've been to kicstarter before and are not just in for a quick scam.

Second, if you're "ready" to produce a few grips, you already have a ton of pics and presentations to share. I know I could fill up 10 pages of a thread with pics only, and I'm not even "ready" to produce yet, they claim to deliver in 3 months.

And last, invest at least a third of your own money to show that you're serious.

Very fishy and not at all professional. Gotta watch this one in case my pics end up as presentations...

I don't think you have to worry. He obviously doesn't even realize the importance of pictures.

You guys are amazingly brutal to sling accusations of scams and fraud. His KS will succeed or fail based on his presentation. Just glancing at the posters I don't see any one here that has actually made and sold anything. Unless I missed some one selling some thing in the last two weeks.

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

I don't think it is a scam at all, just misguided. Somebody running a scam would have had more content.
