Crowley Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hey guys, I searched the forums for this but I didn't find anything. Does anyone know how to drop the napalm bombs (the big sharp looking bombs)? I can't select them in the DSMS, only the Jettison screen. :helpsmilie:
Pickle Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 They're external fuel tanks, not quite nape canisters.
Oznerol256 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You mean these ones? Sorry to disappoint you but these are external fuel tanks. They contain fuel for your jet. They can be jettisoned (usually done when empty) but they don't contain any fuze or anything like that. They dont even fly in a predictable manner after you drop them. The tanks are pressurized with bleed air from your engines. That pushes the fuel out of the tanks and into your internal fuel tanks. This means your internal fuel tank will be full when your externals go empty so you can drop them as soon as possible. Also note that you can check their fuel level on the fuel quantity gauge after the external fuel tanks with the fuel display selector (rotary know below the fuel quantity gauge). For more details on this check manual page 121. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Yurgon Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You mean these ones? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the small ones on stations 4 and 8 just travel pods? AFAIK in that picture there's only one external fuel tank on the centerline station 6. (Maybe that's too obvious to you to mention, not sure, or maybe I'm wrong. But I think those are just travel pods).
cichlidfan Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Yes. Clean underwear and socks on the right. Chocolate, magazines, cigarettes and gameboy on the left. :D EDIT: As to the OP's question. I don't think the US has used napalm bombs since Vietnam. pepin1234 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 The problem of Napalm is the high impact in the press and media. Is absolutely not nice see the people burning and running. But when you talk about a weapon, it is a devastated weapon. There are new weapons that can be used prior the Napalm. One of this is the TOS-1 rocket system. I don't know if there is an airborne version of this singular rocket, maybe planed for the future. Honestly I would not like see Napalm in DCS. The Vietnam picture come to my mind. Not nice at all. Crowley Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Oh, thanks guys. I should've noticed in the weapon selection list it was under 'Fuel Tanks'.. duh. Next time I promise I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks for all the replies.
Freeroamer Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Should be coming with the once the Hornet gets out of Beta (I.E. Mk77)
Kayos Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 From wiki on mk77: Use of aerial incendiary bombs against civilian populations, including against military targets in civilian areas, was banned in the 1980 United Nations Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons Protocol III. However the United States reserved the right to use incendiary weapons against military objectives located in concentrations of civilians where it is judged that such use would cause fewer casualties and/or less collateral damage than alternative weapons. Mars Exulte Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Honestly I would not like see Napalm in DCS. The Vietnam picture come to my mind. Not nice at all. So you're ok with blowing up pixels with other pixels representing high explosives and god knows what else, but you're offended at the prospect of blowing up pixels with other pixels representing incendiary weapons? QuiGon Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Politics and morality has no place in a war game lol I could name quiet a few war games that contradict that, one beeing the Laws of War DLC for ArmA 3.
