_Acoustic_ Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 For one McCarren should be lit up all night and in low light, everything on and a blaze. Can't speak to the other three airfields since I don't have that knowledge but in my time in the USMC we had all airfield lighting on during operations until the airfield closed, if it did. Anyways, for the issue I found. At Creech if you cold start and get the runway 13 once you get to the runway and get clearance the lights turn on but that isn't that case when landing on 13 if you don't start from that airfield. You get clearance for 13 but they never turn the lights on. Probably drinking beer in the tower.
USSInchon Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Probably drinking beer in the tower. Hey we would never do that...now an overly distracting game of Spades or Hearts absolutely. But yeah, +1 for lights on during operating hours.
Punisher74 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I think Mccarran should be on at night at all times. Thanks, Lt. ac5 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Though, asking permission to land to the ATC does light up the runways.... But it was not so in the Georgian map. Something else, the localizer of McCarran 25 L works, but not the glideslope... In Groom Lake they work both... Is this possible? IvanK Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Runway Lighting logic is daft in DCS. Some airfields have Taxiway lighting on all the time with Rwy lighting off ! Certainly for Civil airfields Runway lighting should be ON during hours of Darkness. For Major airfields (even if subject to night curfew ops) it is an International requirement. In Daylight it should also be on as a function of Visibility. Anything below 1200m Viz should imo result in Runway lighting coming on regardless of Day or Night Ops. In addition there should be a means for player to ask for Runway lighting on at any time. In some night combat scenarios its logical to not have Runway lighting on all the time ... just when requested.
ac5 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Right... at least Mc Carran should be lit at all times... A plane lands there each 5 minutes.... Art-J Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 You're talking about Nevada map I presume? Yes, the lighting of the runways over there works like the additional runway lights on trucks on Caucasus map - You have to contact tower and get a clearance for them to be turned on. No, it's not like in real life, but this is one of aspects that are still WIP, so for the time being You can only get used to it. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

In real life, towered airports or always lighted in the US, and most of the world for that matter. Uncontrolled field lighting does time out and shut off... you must activate it by the pilot controlled lighting frequency. (3 clicks - low intensity, 5 clicks medium, 7 click high intensity) 1
