Realistic 2016 releases (NO Wishlist)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

2 months and half to 2017: best scenario (very optimistic) is to have 3 new modules before year's end.

  • In GREEN modules already published.
  • In RED modules that should be (almost surely) shifted to 2017.
  • In BOLD modules candidate to be released by 2016.

It would be nice if posts included some sort of key as to what's actually planned / announced verses opinion.

ED would have to release more than one product per month based on the above list........ That's not going to happen......not even close . SOH map, Gazelle, a WW2 plane or two would be more realistic. I would be happy with SOH and the F18 by this time next year.

Realistic 2016 release?...

NTTR goes from alpha to beta. that will be it.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

The only realistic ones I see on there are AvioDev and Polychop.

LN's is probably right on the Viggen and Corsair front, less so on the maps and Tomcat.

Belsimtek will put out the F-5E, very much expect the Mi-24 to be 2017 though considering they're unfreezing development on it next month.

VEAO: The only thing I'm expecting is the Hawk EFM. I can clearly see they want to release more and probably plan to, but they've had a lot of set backs, but it might come together for them as the P40 was looking promising.

ED will probably release the Hornet and Spit. We might see Hormuz as it seemed to be pretty much asset complete last time we saw pictures, and 2.0 is now pretty much out.

Added L-39ZA Albatros and red cue for modules thet could be shifted in 2017.

We have not begun creating the weapons systems for either -A or -B Tomcats yet.

We're currently revamping our generic weapons stations template structure to be more dynamic in preparation for 2016 and 2017 titles.

Base work for weapon stations and AWG-9 will begin in the next few months.

Seems to me LN has pushed their Tomcat back into 2017, a wise decision.

I don't get that from that comment. On the assumption that they need to do that work for the Viggen/Corsair (which are early 2016), it wouldn't have much affect on the Tomcat. Time they lose at the start would be recouped by easier implementation of weapons later on.

Besides, as LN are on the verge of releasing two modules in the near future, I suspect the comment about 2017 modules is probably to do with unannounced ones.

Back on the topic of the list though, I'd be surprised if we see the P-47D-30 Thunderbolt in 2016, we've heard nothing about it aside from it coming after the Spit.

Same here but, IMHO, best release scenario for Tomcat will be an Open Beta for the end of 2016.

Some months ago, P-47 was scheduled to be release before Spitfire: then things changed in favor of Spit. In any case, some screens of 02.2015 showed a P-47 cockpit pretty done.

So i think isn't impossible to see a 2016 release for Thunderbolt.

I wonder where the optimism comes from for the F-18C? Yes there has been some tidbits on it, but I have not seen anything to give an idea for a level of completion. There has been no discussion on the F-18C for several months now.

Well ED did get rid of the old F-18 Chit Chat thread in this fourm? And with SOH coming out right after they get Nevada fully developed early next year,we could possibly see the Hornet sometime late 2016.As for what releases well see next year. Most likely well get SU-33 & MIG-29 PFM models.EDs' Spitfire & P-47 Thunderbolt for WWII.Multi-crew implemented with L-39 & the 39ZA.Hawk EFM & P-40F Warhawk from VEAO.F-5E Tiger II,multi-crew Huey & Hip from Belsimtek. Harrier GR7/9 from Razbam.F4U Corsair & AJ 37 Viggen from Leatherneck.Aviodev most likely will release EFM and C-101CC Aviojet and start working on Mirage F1.And Polychop will release the Gazelle & BO-105 next year also.

If you look back through the newsletters, the cockpit was pretty much done by June and they said they were making good progress on the A2G radar in the same newsletter, which'd mean they're in the midst of the ASM modelling. Obviously that could mean radar is first and they've done nothing else, or it's last and they've done everything else.

Considering the first newsletter mentioning it was Sept 2014, but it was already known to be in development, and assume at least a couple of years to develop it (iirc, A-10C took 4ish), I'm not expecting it in early 2016, but at the end of the year? Not outside the realms of possibility.

I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility either. Perhaps I am not as optimistic because ED is not talking about anymore at the moment. It could change early next year and I hope it does.

That was kind of a low blow to find out about RAZBAM's decision to hold off on the A-7 in favor of the Harrier. :( If it's ED's ground mapping radar holding things up, I would assume that it doesn't portend well for the Hornet either.

OH well, this probably means that when it finally does come out, it will be so realistic and so complicated, I won't be able to utilize it properly anyway!! LOL :pilotfly:

The main problem as, a "3D model cockpit and exterior" has some "claim" of a complete module?, no. That modules require the AFM, cockpit functionality and system improvements and that take a large time. We can see a F/A-18C complete cockpit, normally "render" of non-alfa pics, or a "video" in progress, none has a claim of a module has near to release. Actually need take patience to the DCS: W ED and 3rd party roadmap.

I know (and i agree with you) that simple screens doesn't mean a near-release module.

But i only said that isn't impossible, not that i'm sure to see a 2016 P-47D release.

This comment does not pertain to the Tomcat. It is planned for H2 2016.

Thank's Cobra: deleted red cue for Tomcat on first post.

Didn't know Corsair was in the mix. Interesting. Now I can play Bah Bah Blacksheep! :) I wish the Cobra makes it. Doubt it, but I can wish.

Good list but I have serious doubts about ED releasing 6 aircraft/terrains this year in addition to merging 1.2/1.5/2.0, completing NTTR and getting all the third party stuff in. That just seems like too much for a single year if we look at their previous release rate. So I expect we'll see the L-39ZA, Spitfire and maybe 1 additional plane (P-47 probably). We will also get 1.2/1.5/2.0 and NTTR squared away. Anything beyond that will need to come from 3rd parties I think.
